I have been trying on-and-off for four years now, trying to beat this boss. Haven't really had too many issues with the rest of the bosses on this game, including the high lvl chalice bosses... After watching this vid and studying your (and his) attacks, I got him on the first try. I finally have 100% completion for Bloodborne. Thank you so much.
I find it perplexing that you can take down this beast without getting hit. I reckon I've got about 50 vit, and 24 blood vial - still, haven't been able to defeat him. Kudos to your skill, mate. Subbed.
There are many crazy good people out there. Go check out Arti killing Orphan without running, quick stepping, parrying, at Lv4, without gems or buffs. The masochism is STRONG in the Bloodborne community! 😍

I kept thinking that there is an opening and his one armed almost one shot hit always used to get me. Now that i kept observing him over and over i could get the timing of the dodge right and the dodge right to avoid his swipe left. Thank you thank you. I took an approximate of more than 100 tries for this boss easily ten times more than on any other boss in the whole game. Now i know why they call this dlc the most challenging one. More power to the people who damageless runs. Astonishing talent.

I first played the DLC at NG +2. Now I'm replaying it at +4 and damn this guy is kicking my ass. This is probably the best video on him I've seen. Still haven't beaten him but I've gotten noticeably closer.

I thought I had figured out his first two phases 100% but you still had some interesting insight I hadn't thought about (also that fucking extended pincer always got me). On the attack where his hand sticks to the floor, I actually dodged towards him right as the aoe triggered and got a couple of hits. His 3rd phase I never quite figured out and just played safe and eventually I was able to do it. Could have used more dodges as you demonstrated but I was too scared. Also there's a small difference since I was lvl 128 and used 13 blood vials lol (though our damage output was very similar). All in all, congratulations man, you did awesome

Man, I can't say how happy I am right now. I was trying to kill this asshole for one eternity, I died more than 60 times trying to kill him. After this guide I could understand his paterns and moves and finally could defeat him. Another thing, I was trying to kill him in NG+4, and he is such a pain in the ass in this difficulty. I realize that it's just the patterns and mechanics I need to learn and improve upon. I just need to work on my character and being patient.
You know what's more funny, I almost beat him in my first try, he was in his third phase and I stuck in the lava and couldn't move, he did one of his stupid shadowbox hits and killed me. From that moment, still can't get to his third phase. This fight is stupid and lazily designed. Leave aside dodging his attacks, It's more frustrating to reach the fog gate from the lamp. Cheap DLC. Lady Maria and Ludwig are the only good fights in the DLC.
Laurence is the hardest boss for me I am yet to beat. Today will be the day. Its been exhausting annoying work and he is a boss you absolutely need to be PATIENT and keep distance. The last phase gets me. The one hand smash or sweep just kills me. On Ng7 or beyond here (lost count) and started the DLC after completing Bloodborne many times. Orphan of Kos was a great fight. Any faults I made were my own mistakes. A great fight. But Laurence has moves that just take the fucking piss out of me man. He will die. He will die. He will die. Today. This vid helped hugely btw and shows me what I need to do in the last phase.
Be aggressive in his first phase. Run to the front of the map where you enter if you have to, to get him to do that ground punch he does at the start. It's easy to dodge and get behind him. Also, summoning Valtr made this fight much easier for me...yeah, Laurence will have more health, but Valtr will distract him, giving you more time to attack. In the last phase, using projectile weapons is highly recommended if you have high BT, like the Evelyn/bone Ash, or especially the Bowblade, with right gems on. If you have to go in to attack, wait for the fire to disperse, hit him 2, 3 times MAX, get the fuck outta there. Rinse, repeat.
A great performance against the boss from hell. You make it look so easy when I make a total pigs ear of it. Interesting that you keep the lock on when most of the guides tell you to keep it off. Some people just have an edge when it comes to gaming and you are one of them.
Whenever I fight him he always follows up the second hit of the combo (the one you're supposed to i-frame through) with the rest of the combo. Why is this?
I counted at least a dozen times where you are clearly hit but took no damage. How? Has this guy been patched since Aug 2016? Because half evading dives you do in this vid will get you hit in the game currently.
i've watched tons of guides, another 20-30 tries today and i got to the last phase only 2 times and died ofcourse, only explenation is that i suck but ng+7 is so fuckin brutal, he kills me with one hit this is bs

This is why I really hate this boss and think he's one of the worst design wise. Even being an expert and knowing his moveset perfectly you still have to do a lot of waiting to get safe attack windows. You can't use your skills to expertly dodge and punish. I didn't feel accomplished beating him, just relieved

I died to him twice on his legs from the total five I got there (lol). I ended up after your vid using 2 vials at second stage (not knowing his moves that well) beating him. But Laurence bro. 3 hours in I haven't initiated his second stage yet. It just tilts me off the face of earth. Skill build I have tried with cane whip and chikage. I know I will beat him eventually, but jesus.. What gets me is that I don't know when he is gonna slam the ground once or twice and when he is going for the full 4 hit combo. I just don't get it..
I hate the fridge timing in this game. It's honestly the worst thing about it because you dodge and are still hit sometimes, and aren't others. This guy is a perfect example of this. Other times, he AND his blasts make no contact with you, but you're hit anyway and have to soak up the follow up. I can see what to do in this video, but that's of little help in actually doing it because it's inconsistent. The flame blasts are the only reason this boss isn't dead yet for me.
I’m new game + level 230 something. Beat Kos my 5th attempt. Tried this guy like 20 times already and still can’t beat him. This is the hardest DLC boss for me. I’m not giving up though, 3 more to go.
It was rumored that members of The Healing Church would eventually turn into the foulest of beasts (Cleric Beasts). Laurence was the founder and first Vicar of The Healing Church, and was the first to turn into a Cleric Beast. While you fight this version of Laurence in the nightmare, this is just a representation of Laurence before his death. Hence why he is smoldering, because it was inferred that Cleric Beasts, as well as any others, were burned after being captured or killed.
Idk if its just me but i have such a hard time predicting what this boss will do sometimes. I want to kill him without taking a hit and ill give it my best shot but this one seems really hard to no hit kill
How can you deal so much damage on lvl 10 with that saw? I fought him at lvl 98 and I deal less damage with Ludwig Sword - I had my strength and skill 30+

phase 2 you can unlock and stick to his skinny arm and you can dodge his attacks without rolling, but it is cheese ofc :)
