I thought your stem is suppose to start coming off, not all the way, but a bit. That dhows the cantaloupe is almost already to cut off thr vine. Also when you were eating the cantaloupe it sounded crunchy. Loved the method of growing bot harvesting to early.
Yes, cantaloupe change colour when ripe - to tan or yellowish. Some people like them a little short of ripe - crunchier, though not as much sweetness or flavour.

@@bm8292 Just do a search here on youtube for cantaloupe or melon jam. It does take awhile to make because of water in melons. I haven't made mine. I will in a couple weeks.

I soaked seeds for 24 hours. Then sow inside in a seeding tray with lid place on top of 80 degrees heat mat and keep soil moist. If you notice any mold forming, immediately mix 2oz water & 2oz peroxide, spray on affected areas. You may need to partially remove lid to allow air circulation or buy a lid that has a humidity dial built in. Wait for them to sprout. When they start getting bigger then transplant out of nursery to Solo cup. DO NOT USE MIRACLE GROW OR ANY SOILS WITH FERTILIZER. Only organic seedling soil mix. Water AM/PM using just a spray bottle. When they start getting larger can water with watering can, but only small amounts. ~1-2 tsp per cup. I hope this helps🥰
