Watching Artie in this interview after seeing the one he gives on 11/4/19 has given me a lot of perspective. Often, there were times in my own addiction when my friends and family would tell me they liked me better when I was sober then when I was wasted. Didn't really care much for that, I was too focused on making myself feel good then worrying about how others felt about me. But watching the contrast between these two interviews of the same person over four years is helping me realize that being wasted like that isn't making anyone in the room feel good, especially Artie. Never really saw it from an outside perspective before. Makes me realize how much money, and time and talent that I have been wasting, and maybe it's time I started treating myself better. I guess in a way, Artie gave back tonight to a total stranger.
Man I am glad I am just now catching up to these podcasts. I've been through a hard time these past 4 months, and haven't been able to get out much. All these clips have kept me sane
HA! The reason you see junkies thin is because they are BROKE! I promise you if a junkie had enough money for a fix AND food he would be fat as fuck. When high on dope you crave sweets like a MFer.
My girlfriend is always bugging me that we never do anything...Umm yea where doing something...Im watching the game and eating a sandwhich and your making me another sandwhich.." - Artie Lange
You don’t realize how important being genuine is until you hang around with fake people. It takes character and surety of ones self to truly be the same person no matter who is in front of you. Two real solid dudes here.
ShangTsung917 He did his L.A. tour and he was on the Adam Carolla Podcast and did not sound anything like he did on the JRE podcast. He was funny, sharp, and positive.
Artie seems like a cool dude, and I don't wanna sound like a hater, but I think it's interesting to see Artie and Joe two guys who are the same age (47) and how they're totally different lifestyles have affected them in their later lives. It is clear seeing Artie and Joe side by side, that our health has To come first.
Joe smokes a ton of weed, but he also works out like a fiend, does martial arts and is into all kinds of health supplements...plus he's passionate about learning and bettering himself. Artie is a diabetic slob with a history of heroin, cocaine and gambling addiction.
Yes I know that why it's interesting seein the comparison. Joe caring about his health and fitness looks vastly different than Artie who's the same age but looks older and sicker because if his lack of taking care of his body. You framed my point a bit better though haha
First hour = Depression. Next 20 min = Pool. after that more depression, gambling and boxing. This guy is fucked. Theres a reason why this only went 1hour 20 min. Still interesting to see how joe handles this guy.
RTommyR3D Joe can definitely sense something is not right with Artie. He seems genuinely concerned and is trying to help the guy by offering some advice / suggestions on ways to improve his life
Kyle Sciacca And Artie also kinda seemed to be asking for help. At least with his diet, and losing weight, but looking back at what he said it did seem like more than that.
The difference from the 2019 Artie is indeed unbelievable. Here, he struggles to make eye contact, he is awkward and clearly mentally behind Joe. In the 2019 podcast, Joe almost has a hard time keeping up with Artie, there's a spark in his eyes. Two different people. Addiction truly kills one's soul.
Shaun Andrews He doesn’t have quit. But Artie is weak minded. You don’t have a job in show business (albeit much smaller now) for 25 years if you just quit after every roadblock.
@@arizonarider6998 stern is steady..Rogan can be all over the page or focused..I like it cuz you never know what you will get..hey are you from arizona??I grew up in phoenix..currently in Europe for a bit..
Artie is actually trying not to nod throughout this entire episode. The latest podcast he looks, sounds and acts like a completely different man. Keep it going Artie!
+ZACK COFFMAN nah man, just the opposite. He said he was withdrawing and he looks it (i.e. he looks slightly sick/off). He would be much happier if he was high.
ZACK COFFMAN Yeah I have seen him "nod" as the dope heads call it on Stern. That pale/sickness with the matte looking skin looks like dope sick to me but I could be wrong. Look how joe has normal sort of "man grease" on his head and Artie looks sort of drained of color and moisture. He also did say he was withdrawing around 25 minutes but he could certainly be lying.
Sickos Exposed I mean. I don't think he's in the first 72 hours of w/d but I don't think he would hide away for 2 months to make sure every last chill is gone. Like I said, I could be wrong but the sort of drab, uninspired melancholy he has looks like it might be week 3 or 4 of cold turkey.
Artie's a kickass human being..Certainly one of my favorites..I loved the film "Dirty Work" as a kid, and you've brought me tons and tons of laughter ever since..I just wanted you to know how deeply grateful I am for that.. The inspiring form of art in which you choose to share with the world is such an astonishingly timeless, genuine gift to all of humanity..Laughter is so inherently underrated in our society, it's downright shameful.. I myself completely believe that a LAUGHTER(+MOTION) filled life is the CURE*ALL of the perplexingly beautiful struggle in which we all battle by the minute, by the hour, by the day..Whatever our unique story and/or circumstances may be within our own infinitely complex and potentially supernova like power equivalent conscious minds..We're all waging an inner battle of wits wisdom and will known as the human condition, thankfully laughter energizes and infuses us with such a rich vast array of neurological benefits which immensely supersede the astronomical majority of top tier mental illness medications, which really only work to the extent of a band aid in most instances(meaning they don't heal, they conceal the imbalance in your brain, it just acts as a finite, makeshift form of relief) yet doctors hand them out like rubbers at the abortion clinic👨🏻🔬🤷♂️ Whereas a sincere and spontaneous dose of laughter will engage astonishing sparks of neuroplasticity throughout your brain releasing intoxicatingly euphoric 'happy chemicals' NATURALLY!While every brilliant punchline delivers us a burst of laughter which simultaneously refreshes, reminds & reassures us of the insurmountable beauty that constantly exists all around us, everywhere that we go if only we can remember to pay attention and seek it out on a consistent basis instead of the usual negative aspects of our lives..The best part is that with practice, ANYONE can develop the truly superior and God-Like skill of unwavering focus where we can bend, sculpt and fine tune our mental conditioning abilities to our own will hence having our minds work and play for us like the elegantly intricate instruments for which they are..EXCELLENT PODCAST MUCH LOVE TO ROGAN AND ARTIE FOR THE ENERGY YOU GUYS PUT IN TO PUT OUT👊👊🏿👊🏻👊🏽
Artie Lange lost his soul when his hero, his father, fell from a roof leaving him a quadriplegic in the mid 90's. He's 1 of the most self loathing, self destructive comedians of all time, and they're generally known for such qualities. He's actually had 1 of the most charmed (career) lives ever as far as the breaks he's gotten from way back getting a really good job working the docks, to catching a break from Norm and then Stern. He's always seemed to have a black clound hanging over his head. He complains that he can't straighten his life out by dieting and working out bc he doesn't have the $.. he takes care of his mother and he loses a lot of his $ there, but fails to mention the thousands of dollars he spends on his vices each week. It's a shame bc I've always been a huge fan of Artie's. Dirty Work was great and would be known as a classic if the original R rated script would have gotten the green light. Beer League was hilarious. His memoir 'Too Fat to Fish' was great and the 2 stand-up special I've seen from him were amazing.. but he really hasn't been the same since his 2010 suicide attempt by stabbing himself repeatedly in his belly after drinking bleach (an act that gives a little insight into the darkness he feels about himself deep down). I can't believe he's still around actually- just a testament to how loved and talented the guy is, but this guy has too many demons to count. I'd love to see Artie recover from all of his problems and addictions somehow because this interview was really sad for anybody who has seen his decline over the years.
He actually blames himself for his father's accident because he was supposed to be there that day to help him out and hold the ladder that he fell from. He said he was screwing around with his friend instead of being there for his father like he said he would be. This is why he hates himself so much and unfortunately nothing is ever going to fix it. I can't say that I blame him for feeling this way because how can you live with yourself after something so terrible that maybe you could have prevented? It's a terrible story and I really feel for him.
305 you are exactly right and thank you for adding that very important piece to Artie's personal narrative. When I read that in his book it explained a lot. It reminded me of the time I heard Scott Weiland open up to Howard in an interview about the sexual abuse he experienced as a child and how that totally changed everything I had ever thought about the guy- I've felt a huge sadness for Scott as well as Artie ever since hearing about the pain they face daily. Our society doesn't talk much about those devastatingly tragic events that occur where a person can rationally place the blame solely on themselves. There's really nothing that can be said to a person in that situation that could change their stance. I think the situation can be so dark that it's hard to talk about
Bubba Ranes well done and ty sir, you're comment got a good laugh out of me during a time when I need as much as I can get.. & you're right.. in represpect I slhould've went with something like 'deceptively charming'
Really cool interview, aside from Artie not taking care of himself I love this duo. You can tell Joe genuinely likes artie and enjoys hanging out with him. Hope he starts taking care of himself before it's too late.
I’ve recently only known about Artie Lange since Joe interviewed him recently after he got clean and I now listen to halfway house religiously so seeing this is quite a shock for me. Seems completely out of it. So great he is clean!!
In June 2016 (roughly a year after this), Artie told Dennis & Callahan (WEEI) that he had relapsed and was about two months clean -- which means he might have been flying for parts/all of the 2015-year containing this interview.
Wow, Joe Rogan and Artie Lange are both 47 years old....Artie looks like he is well into his 60's and if Joe didn't polish his head he would look closer to 35-40.
He's speaking in slow motion. When he starts touching his face like that and his eyes are barely open, he's high a fucking kite. He used to host his old Directv show like that all the time, then said he was stone sober. He was a junkie on that show nearly the whole time.
...it’s not a short list: It’s booze It’s heroin It’s coke It’s pills It’s sugar! It’s gluten It’s shakes... Don’t have a cherry! If you have an orange, peel it this way!
Bro you should really be thinking about how you could help him
Man I am glad I am just now catching up to these podcasts. I've been through a hard time these past 4 months, and haven't been able to get out much. All these clips have kept me sane
arties successfully fucked up the one perk of heroin addiction...being thin
HA! The reason you see junkies thin is because they are BROKE! I promise you if a junkie had enough money for a fix AND food he would be fat as fuck. When high on dope you crave sweets like a MFer.
ftw 185th I put on weight too.
it made food taste better for me. 40 pounds in a few years.
LOl. Junkies fuckin love ice cream.
Nah it just depends on the person. Kurt Cobain and Jimi Hendrix were skinny .
hendrix was not a heroin addict cobain was
Joe pulled out a surprise intervention on this dude
I love and miss Artie so much, Its currently May of 2019 and he’s still in terrible shape. Pray for Artie🤞🙏🙌
Pray for Artie’s nose to 👃
😭😭
He just got outta rehab and is 8 months clean! He looks damn good too minus the nose, hopefully he stays that way
What you mean he has 8 months as of 4 days ago so he was clean in May 2019
@@GrahamPablo because that's what he said
My girlfriend is always bugging me that we never do anything...Umm yea where doing something...Im watching the game and eating a sandwhich and your making me another sandwhich.." - Artie Lange
man i hope Artie isn't chasing the dragon again
He never was chasing the dragon, he was snorting heroin, smoking it is chasing the dragon.
Keety Kardashian a Kardashian would know
Keety Kardashian Real heroin addicts inject. Full stop.
gizmo nala lel
Keety Kardashian If hes snorting it hes probably smoking it
You don’t realize how important being genuine is until you hang around with fake people. It takes character and surety of ones self to truly be the same person no matter who is in front of you. Two real solid dudes here.
Listen to the new podcast with Artie and you're basically listening to the same episode but he's sober
So good to see Artie. Please do the Artie lange podcast again. That was one of the best podcasts out there.
Is Artie tired here or is this the way he normally is on his podcast?
Poopiesnoopies He's usually always on drugs. Drinks a lot and obviously obese. Very funny guy but very poor health.
agreed
Musiccalgary another Calgarian JRE fan. Hi five brother! stay warm!
ShangTsung917 He did his L.A. tour and he was on the Adam Carolla Podcast and did not sound anything like he did on the JRE podcast. He was funny, sharp, and positive.
"What am I on the view?" Artie is so funny
what a contrast from this to Artie in 2019. Respect
Probably the most honest guest Joe has ever had.
Almost 3 years later and Artie is still alive. Seems like a small miracle if you ask me. 2 of the best right here.
+will sparks
47 is their later lives? How old are you?
Guillermo Marcelo De Santa Garcia - Artie's face still looks younger to me. And he would be a lot more fun to hang with than Joe whom I like.
First hour = Depression. Next 20 min = Pool. after that more depression, gambling and boxing. This guy is fucked. Theres a reason why this only went 1hour 20 min. Still interesting to see how joe handles this guy.
gets better after an hour... kinda
It did get depressing, but still, when he said something funny, it was really funny.
Yeah I feel like this guy is gonna pass away soon with all his health problems and Joe will always remember how fucked up this podcast went.
Artie has mastered the art of semi functioning junkie
That’s cuz he’s got money and a good connect He can afford to buy whenever he wants And he has a job where it’s ok if he nods off
The difference from the 2019 Artie is indeed unbelievable. Here, he struggles to make eye contact, he is awkward and clearly mentally behind Joe. In the 2019 podcast, Joe almost has a hard time keeping up with Artie, there's a spark in his eyes. Two different people. Addiction truly kills one's soul.
Artie is EXTREMELY high here ! Takes one to know one
Artie must of been SO happy about that last second pick in the end zone by the patriots. That was like a $30,000 play for him lol
this guy makes me think that this is how Chris Farley would have turned out.
RYNO LASCAVIO idk, Artie has a hell of a lot more quit in him then Chris .
No way
Shaun Andrews He doesn’t have quit. But Artie is weak minded. You don’t have a job in show business (albeit much smaller now) for 25 years if you just quit after every roadblock.
@@shaunandrews5138 I've never heard of you. Artie's quit is more successful than your start.
Robert KY Wildcats I’m a producer ya dumb fuck lmao hahahahahaha
Not one word about howard. Rogans a stand up dude.
Even if he did artie is always way open to speak of it..plus Rogan never speaks of stern to anyone. .
Rogan is a better interviewer than stern
@@arizonarider6998 stern is steady..Rogan can be all over the page or focused..I like it cuz you never know what you will get..hey are you from arizona??I grew up in phoenix..currently in Europe for a bit..
Arizona Rider Good God that's soo not true, and crazy disrespectful!!!!!
Joe Edwards joe yeah I’m near Phoenix .
Artie is actually trying not to nod throughout this entire episode. The latest podcast he looks, sounds and acts like a completely different man. Keep it going Artie!
Artie Lang deserves a biopic what a legend
this is a really dark episode
Joe Rogan is a class-act, gentleman...
58:10 Norm discussion.
You're welcome.
exactly what i was looking for
God's work. Thank you sir.
Me too
You're the man
Lol as soon as I clicked on this video, I was looking for where they'd talk about Norm. Thanks!
8 months clean and fucking strong. Thanks Art.❤💥
I live in Hoboken and have never seen Artie in 20 years. He stays uptown.
Just ask the dude about some baseball!
So glad Artie got clean. Night and day difference
I hope Artie gets through this period of his life. He's in trouble..
-just eat healthy food
Artie: HOW THE FUCK AM I GONNA DO THAT ?!!? LMAO
“ it’s all the same shit” had me dying!!!!! 😂😂😂😂
Artie Lange is the modern day Rasputin. It’s literally impossible to kill that dude.
BABY GORILLA NEEDS TO DO MORE PODCAST I LOVE ROGAN BUT ID WATCH ARTIE ALL DAY TOO
He has his own show
Artie is high as a kite here
+ZACK COFFMAN nah man, just the opposite. He said he was withdrawing and he looks it (i.e. he looks slightly sick/off). He would be much happier if he was high.
+Goad Said have you ever watched him when he was on stern high? Same shit.
+Goad Said dude if he was dope sick he wouldnt be at this interview.
The fact that Artie was that high and still that funny on this episode is one of the most amazing comedic feats I've seen lol
Joe: You need to earn your meal
Artie: "I do, I go to work and I pay for them". Im so glad to see the change he made. I love Artie.
I myself completely believe that a LAUGHTER(+MOTION) filled life is the CURE*ALL of the perplexingly beautiful struggle in which we all battle by the minute, by the hour, by the day..Whatever our unique story and/or circumstances may be within our own infinitely complex and potentially supernova like power equivalent conscious minds..We're all waging an inner battle of wits wisdom and will known as the human condition, thankfully laughter energizes and infuses us with such a rich vast array of neurological benefits which immensely supersede the astronomical majority of top tier mental illness medications, which really only work to the extent of a band aid in most instances(meaning they don't heal, they conceal the imbalance in your brain, it just acts as a finite, makeshift form of relief) yet doctors hand them out like rubbers at the abortion clinic👨🏻🔬🤷♂️ Whereas a sincere and spontaneous dose of laughter will engage astonishing sparks of neuroplasticity throughout your brain releasing intoxicatingly euphoric 'happy chemicals' NATURALLY!While every brilliant punchline delivers us a burst of laughter which simultaneously refreshes, reminds & reassures us of the insurmountable beauty that constantly exists all around us, everywhere that we go if only we can remember to pay attention and seek it out on a consistent basis instead of the usual negative aspects of our lives..The best part is that with practice, ANYONE can develop the truly superior and God-Like skill of unwavering focus where we can bend, sculpt and fine tune our mental conditioning abilities to our own will hence having our minds work and play for us like the elegantly intricate instruments for which they are..EXCELLENT PODCAST MUCH LOVE TO ROGAN AND ARTIE FOR THE ENERGY YOU GUYS PUT IN TO PUT OUT👊👊🏿👊🏻👊🏽
Scott Truax artie doesn't read the comments jerkoff
Great post
I think the situation can be so dark that it's hard to talk about
you were on a good roll til you said Beer League was hilarious
Bubba Ranes well done and ty sir, you're comment got a good laugh out of me during a time when I need as much as I can get.. & you're right.. in represpect I slhould've went with something like 'deceptively charming'
It's weird to know that Artie is actually younger than Joe .
Artie is off the cuff funnier as a junky than 99% of other comedians who spent months writing their bits.
Really cool interview, aside from Artie not taking care of himself I love this duo. You can tell Joe genuinely likes artie and enjoys hanging out with him. Hope he starts taking care of himself before it's too late.
"What am I on The View??" lmao
Holy shit Artie is on FIRE!!! Taking the industry by storm! Could HE be the next Hollywood IT man??? I think so!
he was a trainwreck on hollywood
Lol is this the TV guide review from '98?
Thank you for the excerpt
This is like 95% identical to the 2019 Artie podcast, same stories and anecdotes... but Artie is like super happy in 2019
Comedians love doing that, repeating the same jokes and stories.
Artie is full of shit, exposed on Howard Stern, none of his stories are true
Hes not high as a kite in the 2019 tape
I’ve recently only known about Artie Lange since Joe interviewed him recently after he got clean and I now listen to halfway house religiously so seeing this is quite a shock for me. Seems completely out of it. So great he is clean!!
this is definitely in my top 5 JRE's of all time. they've got amazing chemistry they really do seem to just get each other.
I don't think I've ever seen artie more fucked up on heroin than right here
In June 2016 (roughly a year after this), Artie told Dennis & Callahan (WEEI) that he had relapsed and was about two months clean -- which means he might have been flying for parts/all of the 2015-year containing this interview.
TAProductions He just confessed to Opie that he relapsed and was arrested in February.
never higher than when he was on the stern show doing some cornball act..roll call...roll call..
Sad but true, he's wasted
He passed out on the stern show Wtf are you talking about.
Wow, Joe Rogan and Artie Lange are both 47 years old....Artie looks like he is well into his 60's and if Joe didn't polish his head he would look closer to 35-40.
Artie is quite high in this interview.
He's speaking in slow motion. When he starts touching his face like that and his eyes are barely open, he's high a fucking kite. He used to host his old Directv show like that all the time, then said he was stone sober. He was a junkie on that show nearly the whole time.
...it’s not a short list:
It’s booze
It’s heroin
It’s coke
It’s pills
It’s sugar!
It’s gluten
It’s shakes...
Don’t have a cherry! If you have an orange, peel it this way! And if you drink water, only drink it cold!
Alright! What the f-
How the fxck am I gonna live?! Everything I know to do, I can’t do anymore! 💀🖤
Edited: I LOVE ARTIE! 😁♥️
Artie and Anthony will be the most amazing show. Better than anything there has ever been!
Yeah?
Unfortunately money accomplishes just about everything in this world, and until we can free ourselves of its burden our psychological states will always feel in disorder.
Rich Pianas Last Oxy he meant money is a psychological burden, but if you do nothing for a year, you will either get depressed or continue to be depressed.
