16:42 As far as I know, they've refused to call it anything aside from either One DnD or the 2024 rulebooks. 5.2 refers to the update coming to the System Reference Document (the free stuff) that will add in material from the 2024 rulebooks.
Just found this channel and this is my first video. I absolutely love the random chart mechanic for building the characters' backstory. I'm already hooked and I haven't even seen table play yet.
15:47 I don't know where you heard it was 1 to 20. Since the road map reveal sometime last year, all I heard was first that it was a high level module that went to 20 and people were speculating it could be DnDs first 1-20 module, and then later when the official description for Eve of Ruin came out it was listed as a 10 to 20 module that could be run as a stand alone or as a sequel to a previous dnd module- most of which end at level 8-10. This is clearly its focus, as the character creations section mentions pre-existing characters before it mentions creating new ones for the adventure. That said, the section for creating new characters is incredibly lack luster. It serves its purpose, but looks more like a table for starting at level 5-8 than 8-11. As for not giving magic items, while I think it absolutly should have had a magic items table for new chatacters, in fairness there is already a table for starting a campaign at higher levels in the DMG (in the same section as Tiers of play) that suggests starting with normal equipment, a bunch of gold and 2 uncommon magic items. Also MINOR SPOILERS --------------------------------------------------------- The first few dungeons I've read have been absolutely frontloaded with magic items in a way officially published adventures usually aren't. I think this is to account for the possibility of characters coming into the module with few magic items and to kit them out.
See, I swear I saw promotional material that said 1-20, but if I did it's been wiped from the internet so maybe I didn't and it was all a rumour memory is janky like that
@@The_Crimson_Witch Oh for sure. I was definitely both relieved and sad to discover it was 10-20 🤣and I get that it's something that can be done after a level 10-20 campaign, and there are instructions in the DMG for starting higher level, but it all still felt a little....lackluster for me. I like what we've done with it, and even if the module itself loads us up with magic items, we start the game feeling like we're really the heroes of legend that the module thinks we are. I would've actually rather they loaded us up with stuff to start and then kept the adventuring rewards a little lighter in the beginning, it just makes more sense to me. Still, it's nice that it sounds like they didn't just do and expect people to figure it out entirely!
Ohh just curious… so a crit success for a monk with evasion a dexterity saving throw regain hit points, since a normal save is no damage…could be interesting…
clarification. official WotC name is just "5e Revised" or "PHB / DMG 2024" to designate the new material. "OneDnD" is the playtest name, same as 5e was called DnDNext while in development. "5.5...5.2, all others are community names. Personally i just go with "5r"
I hadn’t thought about it before but when you started talking about languages the question, Why would people from the Forgotten Realms, Krynn, Oerth, or Eberon all speak the same ‘Common’? Came into my head. 🤔
The planescape setting has a theory about that (as Sigil’s philosophers tend to). The theory is that Common came from Sigil as the trade tongue and then got spread to other worlds.
I was wondering how you would deal with the no actual healer in the group apart from the artificer that can do some minor healing spells. High level game can be a bit hard to deal with without a good healer. Kelly having a DM PC is a solution to that. Did you have some trouble finding a fifth player to do that role, or did Kelly just want to play along as well?
We weren't able to get a 5th player who had the scheduled night free and had good chemistry with the rest of the group - but there's no guarantee they would've wanted to play that role anyway so we thought the DMPC was a good option regardless.
Any info like that will often get put up on the wiki! (Our wiki managers are all volunteers though so we don't demand them to keep everything up to the minute) dorktales.fandom.com/wiki/DorkTales_Wiki
Do you have the table for your character origins available anywhere? Im new and a new dm about to run Eve of Ruin myself, and your table is similar to something I wanted to use for my players.
I'm confused about the eyeballs and fingernails thing is it a phobia like eyes being plucked out or something, and like fingernails being pulled out from torture, I understand spiders and the rest but
A bit late to the game, but there is a short one-shot that acts as a prelude to Eve of Ruin called "Nest of the Eldritch Eye". As someone with a history degree, I must vigorously disagree with the assumption we would NOT want to go after Vecna. I might not want to FIGHT Vecna, but I'd love to go and see history in person. I could absolutely see one of my fellow historians wanting to ask Vecna questions.
The draft copy is up on our Patreon, but the final release has been delayed due to some life/family emergencies. It's in layout right now though, and I'm hoping to get it up ASAP.
Pfft! A level 10-20 campaign with limited sources of healing? What could go wrong? Seriously, though, having a NPC that could pitch in on that front is a great idea. Coupled with (most of) the cast of Dragonlance and you've got a winning combination!
Hyped for some high level dnd finally
My favourite part of moving back to the pnw from the south is that now I get this as my local favourite.
I love these videos. They're getting me through a really tough time.

From what I gathered it was supposed to be a sequel from shattered obelisk and there's a mini adventure that goes before it that links the 2 together.

Either way, this is already a chunky book. I'd dread to see how many pages a full 1-20 module would be 🤣

@TheAkiliDaniels Oh absolutely, I don't like *how* they went about addressing the issues present, I was just saying that the attempt was made.
So thrilled for this
Sounds like Rosie is going to have the Caster gun from Outlaw Star. Love it.
Soo hyped for this!!!!!!!!!!! (also i really liked the rolly tables, they're fun~ )
I loved the random tables!! It would be amazing to join you guys!(but that’s a pipe dream. Let’s be honest.)
I’m looking forward to session 1!!
Can someone direct me to where I can find the tables Kelly used at the end of this session. Please and thank you.😊😊
They aren't available yet (they're not even fully done yet lol), but rest assured we'll let people know and provide a link when they are!
@@TheAkiliDanielsAny updates in regards to the charts? Thanks.
@@phillipnewberry6944 He's got a rough draft done, so should be in the next week or so (for the Patreon, not sure about the DMs Guild) :)

Loved this! I want those charts when you get them done.
I'm excited for a Canadian group. As a Canadian player who's always wanted to stream, that'd be awesome to do
Been waiting on this! I'm ready! When's the dorktales dice coming???
A wedding that got crashed by a mystical portal that unleashed dinosaurs, caused by bandits...
Why aren't we playing THAT session?! 😂
I literally just got this book yesterday as soon as I'm done reading it i shall see all of you in the multigerse I'm ready to join in on the fun
82nd video in a row where I comment for the Algorithm God!
Curious to see what some seasoned players do with this module

Our builds are still in process but by the time ep 1 drops the wiki is the best place to find them!
Really looking forward to this one. Love these players from dragon lance, just need Kal to round it out. I know it’s gonna be great.
We tried, but Kal's busy on the night we had to schedule this (and the schedule being what it is, we'd lose other players if we moved it) :(

i don't think Wizards is calling it 5.2 at all. It's just 2024 ruleset at this point.
I can't wait for how broken these character are going to be
vecna vecna vecna, soon comes vecna. vecna vecna vecna, soon comes vecna.v vecna vecna vecna, soon comes vecna.
