At first I was all "oh no baby what is you doing??" but now I've thought about it more and you know what? Jake Gyllenhaal REALLY is the archetypal Taylor Swift ex. We're still thinking about that scarf 10 years later. Red is personal and vulnerable and painfully honest in a way that 1989 (while brilliant) isn't. Bestie, you're right and you should say it.

I was really surprised when I realized you were going to put Jake as the best ex but then the points you raised were actually really convincing, and I have no choice but to agree because it's true. It's true that Jake Gyllenhaal brought out this raw, honest artistry in Taylor which created RED and All Too Well, and it's true that he and Maggie have been respectful and silent about the whole issue! So yep, I have to say, this ranking was really a realistic and well-thought out one! 💖

First time when I heard Dear John I got goosebumps. Creepy feeling, very weird vibe. Just thinking about their relationship dynamic makes me uncomfortable.

Absolutely agree on the list, but I feel that your ranking is gonna change once 1989 TV is released. The secret message story that she created for 1989 is so interesting and heartbreaking, she never did something like that for any of her album. That album lead to her personal and professional growth both. And above all, In Haylor's case, we got to hear 'hit' songs from both perspective! not just Taylor's.
Also In terms of content and entertainment, Haylor content basically never ended since the time they dated. Every year we get something which reignited Haylor conversation. 2012- They dated on-off that year, pics, videos are super cute, In 2013- The iconic IKYWT VMA 2013 speech by Taylor, their award shows interactions were fun to watch. In 2014- 1989 was released and " I love you by Alex and sierra, a song co written by Harry was also released ( the song is 100% hinting at Taylor because of number 13 in it) In 2015- Made in the AM by 1D was released with song 'Perfect' In 2016- Harry wrote 22's lyrics for his bday, which became most retweeted tweet of the year. In 2017- Harry released 'Two Ghosts' and spoke so highly about Taylor in his rolling stone interview and supported her (indirectly) during her lowest time. in 2018- Harry again teased '22' lyrics in concert and broke headlines, In 2019 - Harry released Fineline on her 30th bday. In 2021- They Met again. I mean that's a good amount of content both music and entertainment.

Since some fans can be extreme with sending him hate messages. I think Taylor’s drawn parallels between John and Jake, but I think Better Man is about Jake. The line ‘you would’ve been the one if you were a better man’ reads Jake. Also, the accusation of ‘talking down to me’ is echoed in songs like Begin Again, ATW10 and WANEGBT.

Red kinda gave alot more variety than 1989. There were songs with different emotions than the mostly fun & happy sounding songs in 1989.
Like Taylor said, The color Red resembles emotions that are very intense on both good and bad sides.

I feel like all too well TV has some more scathing lines in it, and it's the fact that she didn't even need to try to be scathing all she needed to do was speak the truth such as, his lovers stay her age.. I think his actions in how he treated her and their relationship and just the fact that he seems to date younger women reflect VERY poorly on him, but I don't think he's overall a bad person and him refusing to speak on it is probably the best way he could possibly deal with or respond to her songs and media gossip.

To me, Taylor Lautner is the best ex in terms of how she was treated HOWEVER, we really gotta applaud Jake for not going crazy/berserk with all the bullshit he got after the release of ATW 10 minute version. I feel like he unfortunately got a lot more roasted than John, even. Which, to me, wasn't something he deserved after 10 years lol. And idk, I feel like if Jake was just THAT horrible, I don't think we would've gotten a song like "I almost do" out of that relationship. I feel like he was just neglectful and didn't feel as strongly as Taylor did- or at least he was too late in expressing it.

He was one of the biggest music producers in the 2010s - produced rhianas 2 most streamed songs and has more monthly listeners than harry styles today. He’s Taylor’s richest ex by far prob why he pushed back after the break up bc he could afford it. Also, she cheated on him in a public fashion so don’t really blame him for taking his opportunity to clap back.

I think the creator is pretty clear that we don’t know what happened behind closed doors, and is doing a ranking based on publicly available content (what, if anything, Swift’s exes said about her publicly after their respective break ups and the quality of songs that are linked to each ex. I’m not really seeing what the issue is with this video. If you don’t want to listen to Taylor Swift commentary from someone other than Taylor herself, you might be on the wrong channel.
