Hello everyone! So I thought I would do a little update on Daisy now she is a fully-fledged toddler. She's almost 17 months-old now, and I thought I would do an update on her for anyone who is interested, and also for fellow parents of children with Stickler syndrome, Pierre Robin Sequence or a cleft palate. Lots of love xx
Seriously, I can have a truly rotten day and watch one of your videos w/ Daisy talking & it all just disappears & the world is right again. She is a wonderful tonic for this 8th grade science teacher!
Hi Charlotte. My name is Trisha and I’m 37 weeks pregnant with my third baby, a little girl, who we think has Sticklers just like my husband. I’ve had lots of extra scans and this little girl has a smaller jaw too, unsure as yet if there is a cleft palate. I’m having a c section next week as they’re worried about the possibility of an airway issue at delivery. Like yourself I have googled all sorts and it’s been quite a stressful pregnancy, I’m a midwife so my knowledge has been a blessing and a curse at times. I just wanted to say thankyou for your blog, it has really helped me. My other two children don’t have Sticklers and my husband was fine as a baby but has since lost the sight in his left eye due to retinal detachment, so this is our family’s first experience of anything like this. We’ve certainly learned a lot about the condition in this pregnancy but your blogs have been the most beneficial for us, to actually see what we are/could be faced with when our little girl is born. Daisy is beautiful and looks like a very happy little girl. You’re amazing but you put across quite well how tough it has been for you and your lovely family. But thankyou for your blogs, keep posting, they’ve definitely helped us! Xxx
I'm surprised she's learnt that many words already, I was a late developer in terms of speech and that's without stickler syndrome. I could only say dada until I was 18 months and developed very slowly until I suddenly found confidence at 3 years old and got really chatty! Everyone learns at their own pace and Daisy is doing tremendously well!! You're a great role model for her and you should be so proud of the progress you've all made as a family 💖
What an amazing video, so heartfelt and honest! I recently became a mom on september 3rd 2018 and it came as quite a surprise to us as our little daughter/miracle had a cleft palate and also Pierre Robin Sequence. It's been the toughest months of my life with a newborn and all those problems that goes with those diagnoses and we have been so terrified and worried about what the future will bring for our little girl. She will have her cleft palate closed at 14-16 month and she is slowly recovering from PRS. She recently got a hearing aid and so far her eyesight is good. We still don't no yet whether or not she has Sticklers syndrome, but we will soon learn that from a genetic test. It is so amazing to see that it is possible to have a great life with Sticklers and that the speech isn't all that bad! You are an inspiration to me and you have such a cute and beautiful daughter. Thanks for the uplifting video, it saved my day :)
She's a little star. It really does thrill me to see Daisy thrive and develop, after all that she's been through. She is a little trooper and doesn't let anything stand in her way. Love that she says "Hi guys" like Bill does. 💛👶🏼 xx
Daisy is so so clever! I'm sure a massive credit to your top parenting! She was born the same day as my little boy so I do tend to compare the two of them. Her speech and language is coming on brilliantly. Well done Daisy!
She is so gorgeous! 😍 makes me so excited to have my own little girl. Have my 20 week scan tommorow can't wait to see her again 😊 your an amazing mum Charlotte x
Daisy is doing amazingly! Theres 2 weeks between her and my son and her speech is leaps and bounds above Lucas' :) what an amazing clever girl! Shes a credit to you xx
Amy Caughey I was about to write just the same thing, she's a clever bean... Daisy is only a few weeks older than my son, but way ahead of him in terms of speech and interaction 😀 Definitely a credit to her lovely, attentive parents!
Amy Caughey My son is 12 months and is yet to say his first proper word. He'll mutter away but no words yet. I do think boys in general take longer than girls though. Daisy is so advanced
Aww Daisy is a beautiful little girl 🌼 so cute and that smile just melts your heart ❤️ you must be so proud of how far she has come! So happy for you Charlotte xx
Oh dear, she reminds me SO much of Everly when you talk about her little personality... feel like they'll give Rich and Mark a few grey hairs over the years. She definitely seems like she's thriving and is a total cutie. x
There are not enough videos about Stickler syndrome. I was also born with a cleft palate but I have severe eye issues. I am 36 and only a month ago did an eye doctor say I might have Sticklers. I had never heard of it before. I was extremely nearsighted, had cataracts in 2019, and just had a partial retinal detachment last month. I don't know how some kids are being diagnosed in their first year but I have had all these issues and only now had a doctor mention it.
My baby has cleft palate too...And doctor said she has syndrome im thinking my baby is same as yours. May i know if your baby cleft palate has closed like she done a operation to closed her cleft palate. How is the result? Can she talk properly? Please reply
