I wish I did this with my XA GT but I never thought all this paperwork is so valuable well you live and learn. Good on you Gavin looking forward to the next video.
Thanks Tom. I bet you miss that XA GT, they are worth big money nowadays - around 150k+ AUD. I have only started keeping records for my last two cars. The 3 that we have here all have complete records and service history. It can make a difference to the price as it makes it easier for the next owner to sell when it is there turn. Thanks for watching Tom, I hope you are not working too hard mate, it’s getting hot. Take care. 🙏🙏🍺🍺🙏🙏🚙
@@gavinpavlina Yes I do miss the GT I and my brother did a lot of work on the motor ( My brother is a Mechanic ) we ported and polished the heads ( 4V heads ) sig 100h camshaft, blueprinted the engine 850 Holly carburetor, the GT was getting about 10 miles to the gallon ( 28 liters/ 100 km ) but what a car, the car of my youth great memories
Gav, I had no idea you're in to your Holden soooooo much. It's a great car with a lot of great history. I'm glad I could immigrate here soon enough to appreciate the Holden/Ford fever. And now it is sad what is happening with both icons. According to Autoexpert.com.au Holden is done. It's gonna be Opel and Ford is still running with Ranger. Beside that they have nothing. Nowadays any 4 cylinder can make the same power. I know it doesn't sound the same, nothing sounds like V8. But time change so is the market. I've seen a video, 70 years old English man bought VW Golf R (4x4) 2 Litres 4 cylinder. Over here around 65-70K on road and got a bit of tunning done worth he mentioned around 20K. Now he has a sleeper with 700 horses. I always regret that I sold my HX 1977 253 ci . I kept it for nearly 18 years as a daily driver. But it was getting more and more demanding same as old person. Now my 2L 4 cylinder VW Amarok have more power and use 1/2 the fuel. It's comfy, large, fast enough, it's 4WD and over all more practical. But doesn't sounds like V8. Sounds like tractor. Have a nice day mate.
I agree, the new modern motors , turbos, superchargers and now the extreme performance has put the old school engines well behind in fuel economy and performance. The 253 you had was a great engine in its day , but a Suzuki Swift would probably leave it behind before 30kph. I miss my Sandman with the 253 and my old 1981 VC SS Commodore with the 308, great Aussie engines but my current car is far faster although she loves a good drop of 98 Ron. We will always miss those old Holden’s, Fords and Valiants though, they look so cool with chrome bumpers and such. Thanks for watching, I m glad a fellow car enthusiast watches my videos. Have a fantastic day 🙏✋🍺🚙
it is not the same when I came to Australia Men drove cars now cars drive Men, too much technology people don't know how to drive a car by the seat of their pants.
@@tomnovotny9953 I had a few of those old school ones. The first was HR station wagon just like Volga 24. Tree speed column, bench seats, no A/C not even fan. But that car cost me $300 and got me to Perth trough the continent.
