This is the high water mark for me....the extended Re-Mix of this song.......It brings, without fail, Both tears of Joy and Sorrow each and every time I hear it. Immensely Moving and self-reflecting....This song has burned a mark in my soul and spirit. Rest in Peace Stuart.....
This is the kind of music you can take directly to the silver screen. Every time I hear that part I see a battlefield, smoke, soldiers. A feeling of desolation. Then the drums start beating again, you pick yourself up.
The genius of William Stuart adamson.. still lingers on and on… till I die… hope I meet him for the 4th time again and he sitting in a world high above me… and am still looking up at him in awe….
This was one of my birthday presents in December, 84, from my sister! Love it, the 12," Inch version is superb, I still have it on vinyl, a tragedy to lose Stuart in December, 2001, still remember being stunned at the news..
When it kicks off at around 50 seconds with the bass absolutely CHUGGING, I get a burst of adrenaline and energy. I know Stuart probably intended this as an anti-war song but I can’t help imagining scenes of bravery and triumph as this song marches along. Incredible energy
Totally agree with what has already been said about the remix of this song. Our name will never die , this time will be forever....... the fallen will never be forgotten.......... R.I.P Stuart
Big Country is great, and I think this song it's their peak. I only knew about them in 2007 (for pure coincidence, watching some videos at VH1 channel), and I'm still amazed on how good this band was
I agree, in a small way Steeltown no 1, driving to Damascus no 2, The Crossing no 3. But they released self produced material as well. Which was great. No place like home , too many bsides on this 1, poor management didn't help but they were brilliant live .
bought it when it came out, still got it.

I couldn’t agree more. That’s a fitting tribute- thank you.
Real music played by true artist's,will always listen to Stuart and the boys ❤
The rhythm section is in the groove from 0:50 - 1:52 on this righteous remix. "Where the Rose is Sown" is top-3 Big Country. What a band.
Well done to Thatcher and Reagan for bringing out the best in Big country with Steeltown
the turn the song takes at 4:07 is totally genius. Loved these guys since 1983 !

Anti war but never anti soldier, I think
The best version of this song, as you can hear all the fantastic guitar pieces!
When mixes had Balls
They go round again at 7.25, just when I think the song is breaking down. True believers.

Troppo "fracassone": niente a che vedere con la purezza d'animo di Stuart & Co. Peccato... 👎
