- This is the weekly test of the S.A.M.E. system being done by Environment Canada. Specific Area Message Encoding allows you to set your radio to alert you depending on the type of messages you are interested in receiving. More info here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Specifi...
These are my Uniden Home Patrol and Oregon Scientific WR108 radios. The transmitter here is XMJ225, a 45W ERP unit on the C.N Tower which is about 10Km from my house. The antenna for the Uniden is a discone mounted in my attic. The WR108 is using the built in antenna. Наука
The one sounds like a Honda chime
Would love to find one of those scanners. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Tom!
What other alarm-clock sounding radio am I hearing?
All you hear are the alert sounds from the two different radios.
The Oregon Scientific radio is just playing the raw audio of the Weatheradio Canada broadcast. The alarm clock tone is literally a sound you'd hear broadcast during alerts on Weatheradio stations in Ontario.
NOAA Weather Radios work with Alert Ready? I thought NOAA is a US Company
Environment Canada uses the same S.A.M.E. protocols as the U.S. for weather radio info.
@@TheScottytr6 But AlertReady has an alarm tone, not the U.S.’ surprisingly creepy computerized tone
@@jimsdog23 Alert Ready is a different system for broadcasting alerts over TV, AM/FM radio, and wireless emergency alerts. This is Weatheradio Canada, which shares the same data protocols and frequencies that NOAA does. Also, NOAA doesn't produce weather radios. Any weather radios will work in the US, Canada, or Mexico as long as their network uses SAME or 1050hz, and are broadcasting on weather band frequencies.
What version of uniden is that and is it rare
The model is 'Home Patrol'. Not rare as far as I know.
@@TheScottytr6it is extremely expensive
That's a uniden home patrol. it's rare not because of limited stock, but because they are $200+
What is the one on the left
That's a Uniden Home Patrol 1
