    Dont apologize. People can be such idiots!! It made my boil too when you said the little girls doll house was robbed. Had to have been kids who's parents didnt take the time to teach them anything about respect and compassion. Pretty self explanatory if you ask me. The world today is so sad. Smdh

    Discover the fascinating story of James "Doc" McGruder - an escaped slave from Kentucky who became a Union soldier as well as a beloved animal healer and successful jockey in Blackberry Village (now Elburn, IL). McGruder earned respect for healing farm animals, children's pets and even a crippled child - leaving an impact on his adopted community that transcended racial and cultural attitudes of the time. His grave in Blackberry Cemetery is marked by two headstones, including one purchased by the many children he befriended. Presented by Donna Blackenship, local historian and former Kaneland school district fifth grade teacher.
    Birthdate unknown - Died July 18, 1894

    Interesting, but you need to be more careful reading dates. At least twice you said 1838 when stone said 1888. You also skipped reading one child's name completely when showing a family monument. Just slow down & read to yourself before out loud, maybe.
    I had to go back & make sure I was seeing things right.

    Talk about strange happenings in the cemetery. I worked for telecommunications company and when Verizon was pulling out all the copper lines I had three customers who had live phones INSIDE the mausoleums insisted on paying for fiber so that they would be a live phone inside the mausoleum. At a cost of over $3,000 per install. None of them would actually come up with a reason why they insisted that 🙄

    Through an online obituary for Rebecca Jean Sparks it says she died from a one car accident. At the time she was a research chemist for Miles Laboratory and died two weeks before she was to receive her Master’s Degree. All the dates, names and location match this monument but in the obituary she has the married last name of Farmwald (shows Rebecca Jean Sparks Farmwald) though no mention of a husband at the time of death. Unfortunately, there was no information about the little doggie pictured who looks so sweet and must have been cherished to be part of the monument. She was survived by her parents, two brothers, some Grandparents and additional extended family members at the time of her passing. Thank you for sharing these wonderful monuments and statuary. Please forgive me if I’ve incorrectly attributed the information to this monument. I tried to cross reference the information. If anyone has different information I would welcome knowing that.

    The proper term is headstone not tombstone. Like calling a casket a coffin. Coffin is a wood box. Get the point?

    • @CEMETERYVIEWS
      @CEMETERYVIEWS  3 месяца назад +2

      Tombstone, headstone, or gravestone are all proper terms to describe where someone is buried. Go ahead and Google that I’m correct. All caskets and coffins are made of wood. The difference between them is a coffin has six sides. A casket has four you can buy a coffin that’s made of metal but most are made of wood.
