I was a newly hired Pan Am steward in 1978 and at that time some of the flying boat stewards were still flying as senior pursers. They had some wonderful stories. The corporate culture, especially among aircrew, was amazing, and passenger service standards were par excellence. I treasure my time with Pan Am
That’s so awesome 🤩
You are fortunate to have worked with those folks. Incredible! 👍
@@ironbomb6753 right
Excellent history. Thank you!
The narration is glorious. Well done.
🙏🏽🙏🏽
Another well done video. 👍
Thanks for the visit
The majestic Boeing 314 Clipper fascinated me my entire life.
PanAm airlines Clipper Service made tremendious aviation pioneering history building from scratch 100% complete infrastructure supporting traspacific passenger service. They did so very much to advance aviation safety, flight training, ground support & hotel facilities, radio navigation networks. Pan Am was "The Gold Standard", across the board, in those early wilderness commercial-aviation days.
You are soo correct 💪🏽💪🏽
It was the 747 of the 30s!
The flying boats are so majestic. I would love to have seen them when they flew.
Me too
I really enjoy your videos and narration. Thanks.
Thank you very much!
Really well narrated, well done! When I was looking for a 314 documentary, I scrolled to find if you'd made one!
Thank you soo much. I’m glad you found it. 🙌🏼🫡🫡
The Second World War killed the era of the flying boats. Prior to the war there were very few airfields on land in much of the world. Water was a natural runway. It was everywhere and required little maintenance or upkeep. But the war changed all that. By the end of the war, airfields and runways were everywhere and land-based aircraft development had exploded.
Very correct ✅
Hi. The 324 was unpressurized, and could only fly passengers at 10,000 ft. Boeing's own Stratoliner, (1939) was the first pressurized airliner and flew at 24,000 ft. above the weather. The thinner air gave it the economy advantage of less aerodynamic drag. Operating economics killed the flying boats. Cheers, P.R.
Thanks for the history lesson, beautiful bird, well done !!! Always enjoy seeing PBY's at airshows !!!
No problem 🫡

And now you can “fly her” in MSFS 2020 !
Yes you can
You grossly failed to mention the saga of the Pacific Clipper. On its normal run from San
Francisco t New Zealand, it was caught by the attack on Pearl Harbor away from home base. Unable to return directly to the US, it was forced to fly Westward unsupported by Pan Am or the US; having to beg for supplies & AvGas, @ least one occasion forced to use automobile grade fuel. Took a month but they did return to the US
Sorry.
@jamessimms415 For a video on the overall historic significance of flying boats, the B314 being an iconic example, imo, this would not be a subject that would be fitting in this video.
The story is very deserving of its own in depth video. Be it by this creator or by the top aviation incident channels like GDA, DB, AS, CP, etc.
Correct 🙌🏼🙌🏼
