To be fair, he was retiring. Meaning it is no longer his job. Weird how you expected him to do the next managers job for him.
Even if he did some transfers or whatever you wanted, the next manager might have disagreed. Did you want SAF to buy players he wouldn't be coaching? Weird thinking all round really.

If I were a united fan I would be embarrassed, I mean even bournemouth tried, but we are talking about manchester united, you can't expect to not concede being over 90 minutes in your penalty area, because in the few moments you have the ball you have to be clinical and it's not easy at all. Coaches always say it's worse when a striker doesn't have chances and scores a goal than having one that has many and maybe scores 1 out 8 shots, because it means they are involved in the game (I hope I explain it decently. I think rashford had too much backlash from this game, he scored and multiple times he tracked back, you can't expect him to turn everything in to gold especially if in the counter (a unorganized counter like you said) you let him alone. I think conte might be the right choice he could give a bit of athleticism and discipline. United has to rebuild everything from the ground. That said really appreciate your videos and your objectivity

Im a lifelong Arsenal fan and have looked at United with disdain for that entire period. When City came along and used massive financial doping to engineer a dynasty that has now lasted longer than a decade, it changed how I viewed United and Liverpool. One thing I will suggest to you as United fans is to not take the easy road, don’t beg for a Qatari takeover and try to rehash what the Emiratis have done with City. Take the road less traveled, innovate, reinvent. Lean on your identity and legacy as a club. This house of cards City has built will collapse soon enough, and only clubs with strong foundations will be left.

"Why do you always look like this? Please relax". The fact that he can't relax is one of the reasons why he holds the points record in all leagues he has coached in.
He was once asked recently what still drives him and he simple said it was _fear._ He said that he's constantly afraid of failing. Always.
And he clearly transmits that to his teams who buy into it, which is why they always work hard and give 100% against anyone and don't leave any room for error.
When he praises other teams in the bottom half of the table for "how good they are" and points out all the things they do well, he isn't belittling those teams or saying it for the camera.
That's what he drills into the players days on end before the game, showing the team countless clips of the oppositions goals and in what situations they are dangerous and how they have to stop those situations at all cost etc.
City only roll over everyone and make it look easy bc they are not only much better but _also_ work and try as hard as any football team possibly could.
Liverpool, who are currently in first place, were losing at half time against relegation candidate Luton. "Of course" they went on to win it with a relatively comfortable looking score line of 3-1 but they didn't turn that game by leaning back and thinking: "Don't worry about it. We're Liverpool. We're just better". Of course not - they worked their socks off.
Just because some teams in the _first division_ aren't as good or as consistent as the very best teams doesn't mean they are amateur teams. They can hurt the best teams, if the best teams don't actually perform to their standards - which takes effort, concentration and discipline.
After City went through past Copenhagen yesterday, Pep said that he was happy about reaching Quarters and proud of the team.
When a journalist pointed out that - despite the achievement - Pep must know that people will brush it off and say "It's just Copenhagen. Who cares", Pep answered: "You're right. Last season, when we played Leipzig in the Ro16, people were saying: 'Oh. It's just Leipzig. It's so easy'. But now when other teams (Real Madrid) have to play against Leipzig, it's suddenly not so easy."
Expecting the better team to win is one thing. Acting like it doesn't even require effort or an actual good performance by the better team to win is just very naive or facetious.
Pep - in his obsessive nature - is always expecting the worst case scenario, always expecting his opponents to have the best game of their season and always makes sure that his players take every opponent just as seriously as he does.

ManUr´s defeat vs. Fulham was much more damaging for them. Rashford goal was 2nd time you ManUr´s had the ball on Man$audi´s half for more than one touch in a row. Oh, and Onana started well, which was the 2nd biggest surprise of the game after Rashford scoring a screamer (not in general, but in THIS moment). Anyway, there is a question: Liverpool had a 30-year break in winning the top division of English football, whatever it´s name have been, will it take over 30 years from the last title of ManUr´s to win the EPL next time, if ever?

I only watched the highlights and that Man City third goal says it all, Man cities team were in Man U's half pressing like crazy as if they were the ones losing 2-1.
The teams are miles apart it's not even close, this could have easily ended 5,6,7,8-1.

Such a breath of fresh air to see someone else who's barely biased and just loves the sport, respects the sport, the teams and its player. Shows your overall intelligence and nuance, which is incredibly rare in the sports fandom.

It's just annoying to see the way United fans bicker like little children about Rahaford. The only pleyer that actually put the ball behind the net at the derby (an impressive world class goal by all standards)
Yet you'll see comments like, he scored then went back to his shell,
Where was Ganacho, Bruno, lord Scot, almighty Antony and the rest of the team, dead useless that's where.
It's shameful to see these comments. The dude, put in a shift despite his injury. The clubs does this thing where it constantly looks for someone, something and and some entity to throw under the bus when things don't go our way.
The entire team is BAD, enough with blaming players, I can understand criticism when someone does poorly, but when everyone is equally bad and a player despite injuires puts in the only goal and still gets this much bad month. Then you know it's more just petty bickering at this point.

So many thoughts. I am a Man UTD fan, despite trying to change allegiances recently I've discovered that it is true, you really can't. And I found myself watching City play, you know, as if they were my club. I recognized the possession difference but when you see the numbers on paper, OMG. At about 94' I thought, just blow the whistle and call it already. Rashford's goal gave a glimmer of hope, I thought, hey maybe. But no. Side note, I noticed recently how interesting it is that two young star players came into the club as hot players but left in such poor form and seemingly quite defeated (Jadon Sancho and Donny VDB of course). How does that happen?

I think we just have to accept there needs to be an overhaul if we ever want to compete again, as of now I'm Ten Hag in, but top 4 is a must next season and selling players is a must, the likes of Antony and Sancho need to leave for a starters, if we are lucky we might get 40 million for both

    • @gm2407
      @gm2407 2 месяца назад

Main issue is that enough of the players he uses have been his targets and are now at the club. Second issue. United can't flog the players they want to get rid of. Contracts are so huge that even when expired people don't snap up the players as the negociating positions are poles appart. The fact De Gea (33) isn't playing for anyone even if he isn't a sweeper keeper says everything about the money he was on and that nothing has tempted him back in the game when he has years left on his career and is still an excellent keeper. Will take something special to retool United as there seems to be some poor personality traits as the dominant spirit for the group of players at the club. Has been that way since Jose really, maybe even under Louis.

Today is the day, when 5 years ago Erik Ten Hag's Ajax beat FUCKING REAL MADRID in SANTIAGO BERNABEU! THE TEAM FRESH OFF THEIR UCL TRIPLE in past 3 seasons with 4 UCLS in 5 years. The same AJAX team went onto beat Ronaldo's Juventus in their home too and they would have nearly qualified for final if not for Lucas Mouras' heroics in last minutes (or seconds) of 2nd leg UCL semi-final. It was the team of same Ten Hag who was not even shy of putting CR7 on bench. But his reluctance to change his failed tactics and the fucking terrible away record he has with united(25 plus matches against PL TOP 10, only 1 win........BRUH) is really changing my feelings about him. We have good stints only when we have a goal scorer in red hot form. I do acknowledge the positives he has brought tho. Maguire's redemption arc, Onana in domestic games, Lisandro Martinez, Rasmus Hojlund and maybe more which is surely not good enough rn. With lack of options in manager market, I would give him 1 more year if I was in charge. Let's see how things turn out. But maybe I am a tad bit too optimistic, but I personally feel United are destined to be on top eventually. I have believe in Sir Jim.

I think I'd cut ETH some slack tbh. I don't think he handled the Sancho situation well, but is the Anthony drama in any way his fault? I'd say not. Is there anything he could do to improve Rashford's form? Not really. Ultimately, he's gone the same way as Solskjaer, turning to the solid McTominay because his more talented players show such indifference to losing.
When I was a kid, United won the treble. That season, they averaged just over 2 points a game. That's what it took back then. Look at the league now. Villa have just over 2 points a game & they're more in contention for 4th place than for the 1st place. The PL's become like the Bundesliga - the only way anyone can deny City is by having a truly exceptional season, like basically going unbeaten.
If the test for a United manager is whether they're good enough to beat Pep for a league title, I'm not convinced ETH is the right guy. If the test is simply to make progress, I think he needs to improve his man-management. And I know enough about the Dutch to know that emotional intelligence is not their strong point.
Both Klopp and Arteta failed a lot before they succeeded tbf. Great video btw!

It was still a fun match tho. Im not a fan of either but it didn’t really look like United were playing terribly, it was just City scored some nice goals. I'm a Gooner and always thought the anti-Rashford sentiment was garbage. Per season, he should be having 20+ goal contributions across all competitions. But the management, tactics and roster situations have been subpar his entire career. His conduct has not been perfect, but he ends up being a scapegoat for greater dysfunction at the club.

i grew up with united winning everything and sections of their fans constantly goading rival fans in comment sections, so ngl i'm quite enjoying their fall off without wanting to go out of my way to rub it in.
i don't think TenHag understood the levels at the top of the prem compared to dutch league, most of his signings have not been good enough, and the established players are seemingly not inspired by him. With time and a major clear out he might be able to get them on track, but he's still the guy who "did a Spurs" against Spurs in the CL Semi and for me he's not shown enough for me to think he's anything special.
Rashford and Bruno both seem to have toxic attitudes and they are meant to be leaders, you may disagree, but they'd never get away with the way they behave under Pep or Klopp, even Arteta bombed out Aubeymang and Ozil when he didnt want to put up with their BS anymore. Getting rid of the attitudes and signing hardworking and determined players should be ETH priority if he's there long enough.
