I wonder if her crush/girlfriend actually turned into one of them… and Ellie had to kill her? I really didn’t understand her desire to become consumed by the fungus. There’s no dignity in that, but I guess it was necessary to the plot so that Ellie could find out she was immune.
Yeah, I believe so. Riley had to turn at some point and Ellie did mention back in 1x04 that the guy she shot to save Joel was not the first person she had "hurt". Yes, they needed to keep them alive so Ellie could find out she was immune, but I also liked Riley's perspective of things and the fact that she wanted to spend the rest of her time with Ellie instead of robbing each other of such precious time by taking the easy way out.
