I received the large gold crown today. Thank you for the video! A few of my notes: I had to start and kill/abandon more than 24 Investigations, all with at least a gold and silver reward. The crown popped on two gold, two silver, one bronze, 2 people, 3 faints, 50 minutes. My head didn't touch its belly, and I was fairly certain I had it. Don't ever give up, people, you can do it!
Razfort it was a Master Rank Investigation, though I did most of my crown hunting in High Rank Investigations. I put the video on my channel, but FYI - Abyss' is much better for reference and measuring. His videos are, by far, the most useful to crown hunters...
This was the last one I needed for Platinum. I loaded up on Kirin investigations, got a nice drink, threw on a podcast and buckled down ready for a grind-fest. Got it on my first reset. I guess the game took pity on me grinding for Large Kushala for an entire day with no results. Thank you for these amazing videos, Abyss. Without you, I wouldn't have even bothered trying to tackle this beast of an achievement.
This one had to be the MOST annoying monster to get a crown for. 134 Kirins and possibly over 400 abandoned quests just for this crown. But thanks to your measurements guide, it at least saved me the trouble of fighting more Kirin's than I possibly would've. With that being said, 29 monsters down, 30 more to go!
Good for you 👍 He's the last large crown I need for the base game achieve but I'm still to do better than silver. 😥 Saying that, I've actually only killed 79, so looked at 100-ish all together I'd guess. I predicted I'd slayed more honestly, what with nearly 1800hours total play time (MHW and Iceborne combined).
145 kirin kills and I can't find the small crown ...i killed 20 in expedition level 7 Coral...and hundreds investigations...I don't know search in MR or HR...😢
74 Kirin hunts and still no large crown, always so close to having the gold crown Kirin being 659.60 but my largest was a silver crown being 654.24, still not giving up and thanks for showing measurements of a large gold crown Kirin

Thanks... Not gonna lie, it is a challenge... I have 5 investigations, already went through all of them twice (i keep saving the data in the online storage so I can reload) and so far nothing...
After my hard drive crash on my PS4, I had to redo odogaron crown. But I had my USB so I just redid the same investigation and was able to get the crown again. That's why I tend to like the two silver and one gold because even when I reload my save the size ends up changing still doesn't stay at one size
I finally am done with the crown hunts (minus Lunastra as that will be done for fun), I got a certified Giant on a Tempered Kirin 15 minutes hunt, failed like three separate times in a row againts him or the clock, then spent a good while hunting the lighting horse of death incarnate, finally found one on a 30 minutes high rank investigation (forgot the boxes colors and faint attempts), last investigation of that type raining algo with others in case I failed (conditions of the investigation was that there was a growth of pick up places) I saw it and I yelled at my dog: "This is it Guayacan (he barked and went to play with a tennis ball)." Killed it and then........... I got it hah, the last Thropy crown is mine. Now to mop up some Arena quests so as to then focus on the multuplayer ones. Thanks for your video guides. Edit: 56 Kirins were slain in the pursuit of both his crowns.
Bloody nora I FINALLY got this guy and platinum base World. What's hilarious though is that the mini crown for Kirin was the very 1st mini crown I got in the game and there was a 2 and a half year gap between me getting Kirin's mini crown and large crown.
@@GamingWithAbyss I think I've killed around 100ish Kirins and who knows how many I've measured and didn't fight :D. Pretty much since Iceborne came out the last crowns I needed to Platinum World was Kirin, Nergigante, Kushala (just their large crowns) and Black Diablos (both crowns for that bugger). Within the last month or two I've finally managed to get them (thanks to G-Rank investigations). Trying to get Nergigante's large crown ended up making it the monster I've hunted the most in the entire game (I think I've killed nearly 180 of them). Thankfully I've been having a much easier time in getting gold crowns in Iceborne and I've even managed to get multiple in a single day. I got crowns for Velkhana (large), Blackveil (mini and on my 1st try) and Namielle (large) in one day.
I’ve done this about 200+ times with other 2 ps5s and not a single gold crown no mini and no large. Funny enough there was a investigation that I was 100% sure it was a gold crown but I died at the end.
Hey thanks for this. I have been looking for large kirin for a lot of hours now. No luck, I don't have 2 silver 1 gold. Do you recommend to look in 1 gold 2 bronze, or 3 silver? Or skip those altogether and go for temp? I find it really hard to decide. I also just been following kirin for investigations but 2 silver 1 gold just not popping up :(
As long as an investigation has at least 1 silver and 1 gold within it then you should be okay. Example like 1 gold 1 silver 1 bronze or 2 gold 2 Silver
Is it a bad idea to do the Kirin the Myth quest to get this large crown? It's a low rank but it would be spawning two instead of one theoretically doubling your odds. Also can I just abandon quest and return to camp to speed up my farming or do I have to return from quest to not mess of the size rng or something? I know it's a lot to ask man but your videos have been hella useful recently and I was just wondering thanks.
I'm always here to answer questions, it always just depends on if my tablet notifies me fast enough. When it comes to the low rank Kirin event the chance of getting a crown are very very low. I honestly don't recommended your best off in regular high rank investigations. If you kill a monster, you must return from Quest in order to get the crown. If you're in an investigation or event and there is no monsters with any crowns then you can abort. When you are abort just return the camp which makes the process faster.

Going into an investigation and selecting "Return from quest" after measuring is the technique right? I see everybody talk about sniping but nobody goes into detail about the actual quest procedure. I've seen some people say that the size of the monster stays the same per investigation, and so far from what I've seen that seems to be true.
Return for quest is after you have killed the monster and you're looking to see if it's a crown. When you abort the quest, that just means this one is not a crown. You basically abort so that you can quickly start another Quest to farm again. No point in killing the monster if you're just hunting crowns and it's nowhere near gold size. The best investigations are two silver and one gold to farm crowns. Some people say to stay in camp and other say return back to base. It's a coin toss but the monsters don't stay the same size per investigation. I was able to get a mini gold crown and a large Gold Crown within the same investigation
Low rank investigations or low rank events have a extremely low chance. So is always recommended to do something in a high rank for the crown. I personally like investigations with at least one gold and one silver. I recommend trying those
Gold crowns are regularly available in any investigations. Just from personal experience I've had better luck with two gold and one silver investigations. That is the main reason why I always recommend them

Yeah I was starting to think that was going to be the best way, because I’ve been doing the low rank investigations that had gold , silver and bronze but was having zero luck with them spawning. I got the black diablos large crown last Friday.
Low rank are not a good investigation to farm. High rank are good with investigations that have two silver and one gold. But yeah tempered quests give you the highest chance
It took about 10-15 games to find a reasonable big horse.. and it carried gold! Thanks for all those videos, knowing what to look for made it easier even though it was frustrating as hell :D
The million-dollar question. The investigations are all random whether they're going to be gold silver or bronze. I never found a way to exclusively get gold and silver. The best bet is to pick up Footprints from stronger enemies then the weaker ones
I slayed 101 kirin I got the small one fast but the large crown is silver 654.24 I'm so close I literally tried everything no luck at all. I'm doing investigations with 2 silver 1 gold. Tempered investigations I'm doing everything right I'm just not getting any results whatsoever at all. The struggle continues I'll get it eventually
Hey man I was wondering if their is any inconsistency with sizes and the number shown for the crown? Since I have a friend who has been crowning alongside me and he got a gold crown kirin that was the same exact size as the one in this video but without the gap!
I know each Gold Crown has 2 to each mini and large. And it also depends if you're wearing a helmet or not. That can throw off measurements a little. Someone has already did a comparison of size to female and male and they were the same

So Idk if I hate or love Kirin now. While most monster gave me their crown sizes across one or two days (still going on five days for Kushala because he hates me), Kirin gave me her crowns, mini and crown, across TWO INVESTIGATION HUNTS! I did the same investigation that had 3 attempts. First one was ave. size, 2nd one was gold giant crown, and 3rd time was a mini crown. The RNG must hate Kushala but love Kirin. What the fuck
Here is the problem, I have no more for Kushala. And if I try get more for him, they will be for other monsters or have a gold or a silver. So I'm doing just SOS and while I have ran into 2 silvers and 1 gold, still no crown
Very true but there is an optional Quest I believe it is. It's the one where you have to deliver 10 blue berry from the Elder recess. In that Quest just run around and pick up a ton of tempered footprints and then complete the quest. I'm not around my system to tell you exactly which Quest it is but I'll be on later
I've never gotten a crown from a low rank event or investigation. Supposedly though you can get them but the odds are very very low. You're best off sticking in the high rank area

Tempered investigation typically have a higher drop rate. For my second character I purposely didn't do any temper Quest, I did everything in a regular investigation high rank. But I do favor 2 Silver and 1 gold, those particular investigations I had the best luck
Tried to do that :( I use the diablos bow... Btw just wondering, do special conditions and rewards matter? I mean, i read that you should always do investigations with at least 1 gold and 1 silver rewards. I also read special conditions like 15 mins or less deads increase the chances of a crown monster appearing.
@@GamingWithAbyss Not always, I had plenty of instances where teammates knew what they were doing, even with Tempered Kirin. It's just that my luck turned sour when I encountered the Gold Crown Kirin, where suddenly everyone got greedy and got fried in a pretty pathetic way.
You know if I download my mhw file (psplus) and finish my investigation tries without crown, then I download the same file to recover my lost investigations. Any time I will find the crown?
If you're basically talking about saving up a bunch of Investigations then backing them up on a USB or Ps Plus just in case you don't get a crown. Then reloading your save to try those investigations again. Yes if you did that then there is a possibility you can get a crown.
I've had the worst luck with Kirin large crown. Been hunting for three days now 500 quests and 50 actual kirin hunted and only two silver crowns, my luck is dreadful haha.
Sees a Large Kirin... Proceeds to measure it Sees the gap between the hunter's head and kirin's belly GET PUMPED UP AND KILL IT ...get a Silver Crown FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
You might have to just go to the coral Highlands and pick up some Footprints there mainly from the Seven * monsters which are this more difficult ones. Hopefully you can pick up some investigations through that way
231 kirin kills, got about 10 silver large crowns. after this black diablos & lunastra.... Mostly doing those HR49 tempered quests, so at least im helping them hit HR50
As long as it's high rank it has a higher chance for the crown. Also the Arch Tempered Kirin might be a good spot to farm but I cant confirm. I recommend staying away from the low rank investigations and events. Too low of a chance.
Love your video, earned my sub! Please tell me how to have more 8 stars elder investigation. Only Kirin, Teostra and Nergi left but I ran out of 8 stars investigation. I have had more luck with 8 stars than tempered investigation.
You can use your Tail Raiders Safari in whatever area you're farming. Or I was basically in that area running around grabbing Footprints of random monsters. I tend to stock up before I start farming but on the last investigation, I try not to run out. I'll follow the monster around and pick up a bunch of its trails
This one is driving me crazy, been sniping for a week straight, I've seen like 900 Kirin now, I even killed approximately 15 Kirin that were as big as the one shown in the video and even one bigger still no Gold crown And to top it all of it's last one I need
Yeah when I was helping someone the other day. I ran into a couple with The Gap above my head but it was a silver crown. Kind of annoying because you figured the Gap above your head you're good to go. Just keep at it you'll get it. The anticipation of completing this is probably high so I wish you the best of luck
I finally got it just right now. I'm so glad to be a regular human being again. Interestingly the one I got was definitely smaller than the one in the video and some that I killed before. The head of my huntress even slightly touched it's belly. This was kinda weird, something may be off with the measurements on this one. Thanks again for all your help in getting people to measure and get gold crowns.
Weird because there is 2 Large Gold Crown per monsters. The one in this video is the Smallest of the 2. Last week I got the Biggest one which was a surprise to me.
I don't see why not. I would just Google how to save scum on Xbox. For PS4 all we're doing is saving on USB and then copying it back when we want the investigation back
I’m starting to wonder if I should just start killing Kirin after Kirin like I did for mini crown Vaal, and Pink Ian, Legi, and Paolumu.. I’ve spent all day going on a quest and returning. I almost had a gold crown the other day I’m pretty sure, but my best friend carted twice and it was a 2 faint limit. We had it limping also. I wonder if killing them would somehow manipulate or change RNG as opposed to returning from quest..? Also, was thinking about Kirin the Myth, but I’m not so sure that’s worth it, either, seeing as low rank gives lower chances for gold crowns.
Kirin the Myth is low rank I wouldn't waste time. It sounds like you almost have the crown in whatever investigations you were using. I would stick to that
My silver large is at 654.24, im SO close to gold, but Kirin is being a butt and is the second to last one I need before I have all of MHW gold crowns done
Got multiple silver crowns for all my missing giant gold crown monsters so you could say I'm somewhat used to it. Do you remember how many hours you had in when your plat popped?

I had that with Vaal Hazak but it was the opposite from Big to small within one investigation. Got to love it when that happens

Yeah there's a couple occasions I was able to fit underneath it and it still was one size before the gold crown

Low rank investigations or low rank events have a extremely low chance. So is always recommended to do something in a high rank for the crown. I personally like investigations with at least one gold and one silver. I recommend trying those

Gold crowns are regularly available in any investigations. Just from personal experience I've had better luck with two gold and one silver investigations. That is the main reason why I always recommend them

Yeah I was starting to think that was going to be the best way, because I’ve been doing the low rank investigations that had gold , silver and bronze but was having zero luck with them spawning. I got the black diablos large crown last Friday.
Low rank are not a good investigation to farm. High rank are good with investigations that have two silver and one gold. But yeah tempered quests give you the highest chance

The million-dollar question. The investigations are all random whether they're going to be gold silver or bronze. I never found a way to exclusively get gold and silver. The best bet is to pick up Footprints from stronger enemies then the weaker ones
I slayed 101 kirin I got the small one fast but the large crown is silver 654.24 I'm so close I literally tried everything no luck at all. I'm doing investigations with 2 silver 1 gold. Tempered investigations I'm doing everything right I'm just not getting any results whatsoever at all. The struggle continues I'll get it eventually
Hey man I was wondering if their is any inconsistency with sizes and the number shown for the crown? Since I have a friend who has been crowning alongside me and he got a gold crown kirin that was the same exact size as the one in this video but without the gap!
I know each Gold Crown has 2 to each mini and large. And it also depends if you're wearing a helmet or not. That can throw off measurements a little. Someone has already did a comparison of size to female and male and they were the same

So Idk if I hate or love Kirin now. While most monster gave me their crown sizes across one or two days (still going on five days for Kushala because he hates me), Kirin gave me her crowns, mini and crown, across TWO INVESTIGATION HUNTS! I did the same investigation that had 3 attempts. First one was ave. size, 2nd one was gold giant crown, and 3rd time was a mini crown. The RNG must hate Kushala but love Kirin. What the fuck

Good old 2 Silver and 1 Gold investigation. Try those investigations for Kushala, you will have better luck

Two days ago I got a gold crown for Vaal through a tempered Quest. If you have any temperate Quest that's probably your best bet

Very true but there is an optional Quest I believe it is. It's the one where you have to deliver 10 blue berry from the Elder recess. In that Quest just run around and pick up a ton of tempered footprints and then complete the quest. I'm not around my system to tell you exactly which Quest it is but I'll be on later

I've never gotten a crown from a low rank event or investigation. Supposedly though you can get them but the odds are very very low. You're best off sticking in the high rank area

Tempered investigation typically have a higher drop rate. For my second character I purposely didn't do any temper Quest, I did everything in a regular investigation high rank. But I do favor 2 Silver and 1 gold, those particular investigations I had the best luck

I like to use the LBG against Kirin. Good mobility and you can defeat within 10 mins solo
Tried to do that :( I use the diablos bow... Btw just wondering, do special conditions and rewards matter? I mean, i read that you should always do investigations with at least 1 gold and 1 silver rewards. I also read special conditions like 15 mins or less deads increase the chances of a crown monster appearing.
Dont know why but was pretty easy to me. Almost done with both trophies, and the average number of killed monsters is 30.

It's just that my luck turned sour when I encountered the Gold Crown Kirin, where suddenly everyone got greedy and got fried in a pretty pathetic way.

It's a low-ranked event so the odds are very low. I still recommend just sticking with the high rank investigations
You know if I download my mhw file (psplus) and finish my investigation tries without crown, then I download the same file to recover my lost investigations. Any time I will find the crown?
If you're basically talking about saving up a bunch of Investigations then backing them up on a USB or Ps Plus just in case you don't get a crown. Then reloading your save to try those investigations again. Yes if you did that then there is a possibility you can get a crown.

You might have to just go to the coral Highlands and pick up some Footprints there mainly from the Seven * monsters which are this more difficult ones. Hopefully you can pick up some investigations through that way

Mostly doing those HR49 tempered quests, so at least im helping them hit HR50

As long as it's high rank it has a higher chance for the crown. Also the Arch Tempered Kirin might be a good spot to farm but I cant confirm. I recommend staying away from the low rank investigations and events. Too low of a chance.

I have had more luck with 8 stars than tempered investigation.
You can use your Tail Raiders Safari in whatever area you're farming. Or I was basically in that area running around grabbing Footprints of random monsters. I tend to stock up before I start farming but on the last investigation, I try not to run out. I'll follow the monster around and pick up a bunch of its trails

Yeah when I was helping someone the other day. I ran into a couple with The Gap above my head but it was a silver crown. Kind of annoying because you figured the Gap above your head you're good to go. Just keep at it you'll get it. The anticipation of completing this is probably high so I wish you the best of luck

I finally got it just right now. I'm so glad to be a regular human being again. Interestingly the one I got was definitely smaller than the one in the video and some that I killed before. The head of my huntress even slightly touched it's belly. This was kinda weird, something may be off with the measurements on this one.

Weird because there is 2 Large Gold Crown per monsters. The one in this video is the Smallest of the 2. Last week I got the Biggest one which was a surprise to me.

I’m starting to wonder if I should just start killing Kirin after Kirin like I did for mini crown Vaal, and Pink Ian, Legi, and Paolumu.. I’ve spent all day going on a quest and returning. I almost had a gold crown the other day I’m pretty sure, but my best friend carted twice and it was a 2 faint limit. We had it limping also. I wonder if killing them would somehow manipulate or change RNG as opposed to returning from quest..? Also, was thinking about Kirin the Myth, but I’m not so sure that’s worth it, either, seeing as low rank gives lower chances for gold crowns.
Kirin the Myth is low rank I wouldn't waste time. It sounds like you almost have the crown in whatever investigations you were using. I would stick to that

The last two Kirin crowns I got were in regular investigations. If I'm doing a tempered Kirin Quest, I always do it solo. Too much can go wrong
And on day six, a 2 silver, 2 gold reward, 2 try, 2 player max, 30 minute investigation netted me a gold crown 659.60 sized Kirin.
