@@bishfish1514 His skills on the bass guitar far outgrow his piano skills even in his teens. A musician like Burton would have been more than capable of composing a piece of music like this and play it on the bass without touching a guitar.
mate...you nailed it...but there was no need for the second part(when drums kick in) it just doesnt fit...first part is inspired by classical music(cliff was trained pianist as a kid so) but second part is pure metal shredd so you cant really squeeze it into piano(you can obviously but im just saying that you made a huge thing making the first part cause it really feels like it was written for a piano)....great job
who cares it looks like he had fun playing it and hes a different musician than cliff. comparing him 2 cliff is rude both ways. no need to criticize the music. no disrespect meant
bear velasquez well neither did i compare him i just said how cliff wrote good piece and this guy nailed playing...i only said first part sounded better(in terms of classical music feel to it)...he did great great job
nah its cool i agree with you in that aspect of him nailing it but as a classically trained musician (viola for 5 years) sometimes its fun to play a classical instrument, such as piano, as if it were an electric instrument, such as bass even though it may sound weirder i guess? idk just sharing thoughts. it was a mis understanding i thought you were comparing him
bear velasquez no problem i get your point, and im the first one to support musicianship and thinking out of the box...its never the instrument that is limited, but the person playing it
@Miittle You're very welcome. I've been wanting to hear a piano version of this for years and this is just magnificent. My personal favorite part of Pulling Teeth is the part that starts around 1:20 and you nailed it perfectly; it has a very atmospheric, majestic, just grandiose sound to it. I wish I could play it like you do on my bass but I would need 3 hands to do it, lol... Keep rocking man.......
what I've learned in playing/writing music : when testing to see if a piece of music you've recently composed actually holds up test it on both the Piano and acoustic Guitar
+jimmy mcfadden no disrespect to guy, he did a brutal job, but cliff is the one who made it that way, since he was trained pianist he drained inspiration from both cellos and bowed instruments and piano and even organ, then played it on a distorted wah bass...such an amazing composer, i show people covers like this when they say cliff was overrated

Very nice cover dude! I liked it a lot. It always amazes me how good Metallica sound on any instrument. Have you ever heard of Scott D. Davis? He does some amazing Metallica piano covers!
Well done! I just got a keyboard today, couldn't play John Lennon Imagine or any of the other allegedly beginner piano songs... so I am learning this! Only one handed at the moment, but I am happy with the progress so far. With your left hand, are you just playing the octave down bass notes?

PIANO SOLO, TAKE ONE.
Welcome to today's episode of Brutally Underrated Comments
Cliff was actually a Piano player when he was a child, maybe that is what created this bass masterpiece. You never know.
Probably was, fits perfect on piano, his knowledge of music was brilliant
It defo is, this whole piece is inspired by classical music.
He must of made it on the piano then played it on the bass

Cliff is looking down, smiling...
You know you're good when your cat comes to jam half way through the video
I always thought that this song was like the Für Elise of the modern music, its absolutely wonderful
I listened to this while looking at pics of Cliff when he was still around. It actually made me feel sad inside....If only you were still here Cliff
2:42 even the cat likes that :D
If cliff were alive he'd probably congratulate you man as he loved all music beautiful cover man
I'm so happy you played the second part, no one else does.

Incredibile
wow!!! that was goooood!!
Sounds kind of like Bach or Beethoven
Well you would be correct cliff learned everything he ever knew by listening to Beethoven and Bach and went to school for classical theory
He was very heavily influenced bye bach

Yes, exactly, pretty straight forward, and a nice tune to start learning (at least for the first part).
Congrats for the new keyboard! Cheers!

Only thing missing are the drums, would be cool if he could play whiplash afterward.
Los pelos de punta
I'm Sure that Cliff Burton is proud in the heaven!!!

Douglas Vieira ironic because james took piano lessons as a little one

This sounds so much better than the original version. I never liked the bass version with the crappy sound of Cliff.
okay???????
