Yep! It's much better to get your own drink, and drink it all at once, so you don't need to take another sip, until you're ready to get your own new drink. That way, you don't have it sitting out, all available for tampering.
It's never your fault if evil people target you for their evil actions. If you can't protect yourself, it is still and always on THEM.
That said, if you CAN protect yourself, please do so, because you may not be so lucky as OP was. You may not be saved.
It is "not your job" to take every precaution in the encyclopedia to protect yourself from villains, and anyone who says it is is an accomplice to the villains, in my mind. It's not even possible to take ALL the precautions they tell you to, especially when so many of them simply contradict each other. Still, it's good to do what you can, when you can.

They often intentionally wear expensive clothing items, like nice shoes/jackets, or have these unique "rewards" (like red laces) to entice younger kids/teens into wanting to join their ranks. Like a "see all this cool stuff? It could be yours too one day". Shoes are the most common "calling card" of the gangs, with some gangs even having specific brands they use to identify themselves (which they use almost to "promote" their group to the younguns) Knowing these signs and what they mean have helped one of my own friends escape with their life as well before (when you're in a place where everyone seems to be dressed very similar except you/a few other people, and that similarity in dress code isn't expected for the place, it's better not to be in that place anymore)

The Norse religion is big with them as they see it as free from middle-eastern influence. Yeah, they shun Christianity because Jesus isn't white enough for them. Are they aware that the eddas, though reflecting to some extent pre-Christian beliefs, were recorded at a time in which Christianity was a major influence, and that there is (or, last I looked into it, was) some debate as to whether Loki was originally a major deity, or was a minor deity that Christians (or at least those influenced by Christian beliefs) elevated and twisted to fulfill a more Lucifer-like roll? This is horrifying! It puts me in mind of that first story in Gavin de Becker's "The Gift of Fear." After he raped her, he closed the window, before going to the kitchen, saying, "Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you. I'm just going to get a glass of water."
She didn't understand it in the moment, but the fact he closed the window tipped her off. He was going to kill her, and wanted to block the screens. So, she quietly followed him, staying in his blind spot, as he went straight for the drawers to grab a knife. She slipped out and went to the neighbor's house, while he went back to the bedroom, to finish the job, only to find it empty.
I am SO GLAD that the OP listened to his gut. And I am SO SAD that people like those monsters exist at all, let alone in my country. And they probably chose him just because he "passes for straight." I actually get the feeling they would have left him alone, had he been more stereotypically gay, because they would have thought, "Oh, that would be an obvious hate crime. We need to find a (insert your most hated gay-slur here) that we can kill, without anyone thinking it's us, or because he's a (insert your second-most-hated gay-slur here). Someone we think deserves to die, but won't be directly linked to us, yeah!"

I find this extremely suspicious. You don't plan a murder where there are a untold number of witnesses of where the victim was last seen going to your house.
When ever I go to someone's house where I expect to go inside that I let someone know where I am going and that I am to contact them after a set amount of time.

This would be true, if I didn't know that people do exactly that (ie. plan something without understanding consequences outside the action itself). Just cause you can plan the "event" doesn't mean you are smart enough to realize all the consequences. (Jail time, hospital time, etc)
Also, it may not have been a murder in planning but a drug and beat the living daylight out of him. Or some other, "lets not think on it" thing.

@@willparry530 I agree it's possible, but if you've ever beat somebody to a bloody pulp. it's a real mess to clean up (or so I've heard). And since he would have been drugged, much easier to set up. But again we'll never know, thank whatever God you believe in for that, if any. I am SO glad that OP listened to his instincts that night. As a lesbian, the fact that stuff like this happens in our country scares the crap out of me. Neo-Nazis have no place in any society.
It's kinda sad that Weak Link probably only saved OP because of his godfather, otherwise I might say he was a decent dude. Hopefully this incident opened his eyes and he learned to become a better person, though.

Holy shit man. I don't know what happened to the other dude that was inside but he's the real MVP. The gay dude should've said to his cop friend to check on the other dude if he's missing or even alive. Mans wouldn't be here to tell this story if it wasn't for him.
And the human garbage's father was a cop. Don't people need to get their background checked before becoming an authoritive figure? Sometimes, situations like these make me wish it'd be okay to just get a gun and clean house with those oxygen wasting mouth breathers and it be written off as doing good for the community.
