Love this video! 1999 New Year’s Eve, I was playing drums at the Luxor. I pulled my then girlfriend of 10 yrs from the audience of approximately 5000 and proposed to her. We now have two kids, and I’ve retired from music. Still happy to have moved here. Although, I certainly miss the 90s in Vegas
Thanks for posting this. '99 was actually my favorite year in Vegas. It was a great mix of both new and old properties and about a decade before the strip began to look like an overpriced office park.
Me too.. I was kinda really pissed when I moved there because of having to be 21 for almost every damn thing compared to where I had been use to getting in at 18 where I moved from.. and I was almost 19.. stayed for about 5 years.. way too much fun.. only worked and played at night though forget that desert heat ..
@@of_the_how_or_why_of_me__t8685 What year was this when you moved there ? There are lots of things to do there even if your under age lol . House parties, hotel parties , raving , arcade, bowling , street racing , etc . The casinos if your 21 then yeah you go and gamble, or hit the bars 🍸 ,and clubs . But if you have the right connections..... i also agree with you on work all day and party all-night lol. The vegass heat is not bad i love it! Where do you live now , or you a Millennium or Gen Z ?

I had enough fun for a two or three people .. I wasn't into gambling , but I did want in those clubs though. At least I found acid I was so amazed that price that squired a whole sheet bc only 100 for 100 when before it was 10 for 1.. yes please.. I'm a young Gen X.. the mid90's I was out there.. found out under 21 you could get into strip clubs so I would go to them with my male friends and lots of concerts .. I heard that in the early 00's, it died down a lot compared to the 90's.. it was an experience that's for sure.
Very nostalgic. I hadn’t visited Vegas at that time (I was still a teenager) but seeing how simple things were. Before social media, before Smartphones, when “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” was a thing. Now it’s just influencers and tourist traps.
Strip was my office for 16 years...🚕..Just imagine what I witnessed at 12 hours a night/6 nights a week..BIG $$$//FUN//FUN//CRAZY TIMES (with no cameras)😜
Gotta say, NYNY has held up well after all these years for a mid-tier property. NYNY is probably better today than how it was in the 2010's. Thank you for sharing this video!
I find this to be the sweet spot of Vegas. A little of old Vegas a little of New Vegas. Cleaned up and exaggerated from old Vegas but not yet the super mega resorts of New Vegas. Fun themes, accessible hotels, good times
My favorite too..have lots of souvenirs from there..New blue velvet jacket,etc...BEST IMPLOSION EVER,video taped it from across LV Strip...GR8 MEMORIES as 16 year 🚕 Always Tuesday mornings 3am!!!Watched Old go down/New go UP!!!
Thanks for the upload. My first time in Vegas was in 99. I stayed at the Luxor and remember going to the "Ra" club there. The first thing I see in this video is Luxor and an advertisement for RA on top of the taxi :)
I went to Vegas all the time back in 1992. I could get a nice meal for $3.99, a beer for $0.25, and a room at the Tropicana cost a whopping $35.00. I went back in 1997 expecting around the same prices and received a very rude awakening... Still had a good time though.
What a great time to be alive during 80's & 90's. Vegas wasn't the same after 2000. It was awesome as a kid walking thru each casinos with diff' themes. Now all of the buildings are pretty much the same with no distinction.
So much better then. Hotels and casinos for regular people. You could eat, see a show, stay at a fun hotel without taking out a 2nd mortgage on your house.
Compare this to the 94 video on youtube and its almost unrecognizable. A lot of the concrete of what Vegas is today had started to settle by 99'. Mandalay Bay, Park, NYNY, the remodeled MGM Grand, Caesars, Venetian, Bellagio, they were all here. All that's missing is Wynn/Aria.

I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, and I can’t believe how many changes that happen for me living here
Got married there 9-22-99..Still going strong, miss this era.
First time i saw las vegas when i played gta san andreas
I love playing it and figuring out what each fictional casino is a parody of.
Seeing the old Monte Carlo in that little spot between The Bellagio and NYNY was a treat.
I miss living there. Had a good time growing up there. It's not the same now...

It’s turned into a horrible violent lousy place to live.
So much better back then!.. affordable not as claustrophobic and crowded as today it was cleaner I can go on and on!
It definitely was not cleaner.
Brings back so many memories
Caesars looked so much cooler with the blue lighted fencing. They should have kept that and carried it throughout the new towers too.
We have been here in April 1999, so it´s wonderful to watch it again as we knew ist. Thanks very much !

When Vegas was GREAT!
Man it's las venturas. I love san andreas i wish to visit vegas sometimes in future :)
Back before they built that monstrosity THE COSMOPOLITAN right next to the Bellagio.
Really takes away from the beauty and grandeur of The Bellagio.
Very nice view, lets come to see my country culture, stayconn always...
Credit must be given for zooming in on the Statue of Liberty at 1:52. Great stuff here.
i havent seen it that up close since Planet of the Apes
oh man so much has changed i moved out here in 2005 im 26 now
1999 starting hitting Vegas hard 😝
Some parts haven’t changed
The year I was born , the strip hasn’t changed much over the years
Your Crazy its a shit hole now all of las vegas ... the 90s was the best time to live in vegas
You’re joking right hahahaha
I saw myself walking from Caesars to the Bellagio ... rolling my ass off on ecstasy
Before the city center project was built next to the Monte Carlo/park mgm now.
I don’t remember some of these hotels being that old, like New York New York.
What year is the car your driving 🚗
1994.
Katy Perry last Vegas Bellagio ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤SPA
I remember spending the night at the Full Moon Motel, bet it's gone now.
That was a great Krusty the Clown laugh.
That was my crazy friend, he is a character himself.
Sounded just like the laugh of a Motley Crue , member ..
Mandalay Bay’s opening year
Those are good good times. Nows its a shithole and a dump ghetto and super overpriced. Vegas sucks nows
Vegas is actual better, but yes it’s a little pricey though
I love the random yelling and laughing 😂
thanks, yes thats my crazy friend:)
I have this same video😂😂😂
You have my video?
I strongly believe las vegas is over. The place has lost it's true character and is really not a fun place....Vegas no longer exists.
I kinda agree and now the Mirage is being torn down! The originality has been lost.
