Hey your car goes down the road nice first car show cool
About 35 years ago my buddy bought a 57 Chrysler 300C convertible it needed everything it eventually got restored I did a lot of work on it for him he had a windshield we've we've suddenly realized that it's 300C convertible only windshield by the time the windshield was purchased and installed it was a $2,500 windshield he he poured over 40 Grand in his car it was nice when it was done it was like turban bronze or copper bronze metallic the car was nice but he spent a lot I know he recently passed away and the car was sold I don't know what she got for it but I'm sure he had more in it than she got think he paid 25 grand for and it was rough thanks to the video have a great day I couldn't believe how expensive that windshield was and I was 35 years ago but it was an Old Stock windshield
The old TV show "Highway Patrol" is the best place to see many examples of these cars that I know of. The police drive the post model sedans but the bad guys usually have really cool hardtops and convertibles. Too bad not in color. The show was made between '55 & '59. The earlier episodes featured many Buicks & Mercurys but the later ones a lot of Dodges, Plymouths, & Desotos. Those cars have been SO unappreciated all these years. I hope more are found by people willing to bring them back to life.
Copperstate Classics in Arizona, Bo Malefors has the correct compound curve windshields brand new for the 58 Dodge. Your windshield is the same as convertibles. Save your original weatherstrip seal, that you cannot get. Regular Gojo without the pumice seems to rejuvenate the rubber pretty well.
Cool as ya can get!!! My car is the same as yours, except my screen is ,,what i think ,Vista type !! Yours is 57 type,?? All the best with the car ,,,Jlz, NZ
Thanks for the tip on the windshield,,my car is from Bakersfield ,and it's screen is sandblast d ,, OK till you get the setting sun in front of you ,,then it's pullover time, can't see ,, can buy a new one ,,cheers for that mate , Julian
Incredible stying. The grill, lights, bumpers, fins, roof. There's not an ugly line on that car. Digging it more than tri-5s. It must've been spectacular in that gray/silver two tone!
I owned a 57 Chevy for years, had no idea these cars existed, wish I realized sooner.
That car has some good bones , worthy of a complete restoration ! Not many hard tops are out there .
Definitely complete restoration worthy, we just want it to be more road worthy, safe, and look better at this point.
That car sounds just like Christine.
Sounds like when Christine returns to Darnell's after being on fire.
@cudafry1967 what i was thinking.
Point of the video is no matter what your car looks like. It's car show ready. Congrats on your car show. Your looks great. If there was an award for vest Father Daughter team you guys would win. Oh year I'm looking for a driverside door arm rest for a 64 belvedere.
Thank you very much. We also needed a driver door armrest for our 64 Fury, they must break off and get tossed away.
A tip a Speedometer repair man told me is to not use graphite lube on Speedometer cables, instead you wipe it down thoroughly, and blow air through it to remove any shmoo. after that get a spray can of lithium grease, and spray down the cable, reinstall, and it should stop chattering/making noise
I've heard to use graphite, I recall trying it once but do not recall in what. At this point, not sure if the noise is from the cable or the speedometer itself. I didn't want to damage the speedometer, as it's not easy to find a replacement.
@cudafry1967 Speedometer repair services out of Colorado Springs rebuilt mine. 110 bucks makes for a full service and you dont have to worry about it for years
You were thinking of the Dodge "La Femme" model with special accessory things such as a rain cape, rain bonnet, and umbrella - plus a pink, calf-skin leather purse which contained a powder compact, comb, lipstick case, a lighter, and cigarette case. It was only offered in 1955 and 1956 models. Two different exterior two-tone paint color combinations were available. See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge_La_Femme
Thank you, dropped for '57 I see.
I wonder how many more finds you will make roadworthy before I get started on my 67 🙂
I find little at a time, 30 ins here, an hour there, or when you have time, makes it not so overwhelming
In 1957 only the Imperial and convertibles of Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto and Chrysler had the compound curved windshields. In 1958 Chrysler Corp. made the decision to use this type windshield in more models (mostly hardtops) in order to get a price break from the glass manufacturer. It had to be one of the most expensive windshields in production during that era. Its a shame that someone broke this windshield. I believe that the straight glass windshields will work OK if you can get one. At least you will have a decent glass to look through.
Imperial continued to use the compound curved windshield all the way through 1963 models. After that the 1964-1966 models went to the straight glass wrap-around windshields. The rest of the Chrysler line went to a more simple windshield that no longer had the wrap-around design from 1963 and up.
I just looked up the interchange book, same info you described: Plymouth/Dodge/Desoto/Chrysler '57-59 Conv, Dodge/Desoto/Chrysler '58-59 2 & 4 Dr. H. T. (All other Plymouths and All other sedans and wagons used a different windshield)
