  • Wawel Dragon (Polish - Smok Wawelski) is a Fire Breathing Dragon statue located close to Krakow Castle. The Wawel Dragon in Polish mythology lived in a cave at the foot of Wawel Hill. The statue was designed to breathe fire and was modernised recently so that the fire can be triggered by a text message. It's a popular tourist attraction and was well worth checking out on our visit to Krakow in May 2019.

That seems needlessly dangerous... which is why I like it, cool statue. More statues need to be fire breathing.

You'd have to climb that statue to be even remotely burned. I bet that's why they designed it that way, they thought "Hmm, this thing's gonna breathe fire? Well, we should at least put it higher so it doesn't hurt anyone."

Wawel is Tamil for bat, particularly The Fruit Bat.
    Hope that helps.
