Hi All - just a minor fix on pricing, as I swapped the two middle-priced models, it should be: - 41mm: $349 for WiFi, $449 for LTE edition - 45mm: $399 for WiFi, $499 for LTE edition
Curious - from your testing, have you noticed a big difference in GPS accuracy between the LTE vs. WiFi editions of the same watch? Does having LTE improve it at all? $100 feels like a big jump...
One of the best video "reviews" out there. Definitely the best about the PW3. Congrats and thanks. Commenting for the algorithm but hope you get the compliments! Peace
Love the improvements of the pixel watch. 3. Sadly, a lot of these improvements feel like software upgrades, so I'm hopeful that Google releases the same update towards the pixel watch. 2. There's no reason it shouldn't be able to do it considering it has the exact same hardware. Google software locking this would make them no better than apple
They eventually pushed many of the PW 2 features to the PW 1. And those had different hardware regarding health tracking. With the Watches this time being similar in that aspect, I highly think they'll give them to us.
Wholeheartedly agree with you especially since they promised these features as a test on pixel watch 2 so it they software lock it that would be pretty dumb
It's funny, I walked into the room and was like "Woah!". Apparently, someone on the team had gone to Home Depot the night before and actually build them!
Did you get to know from Google that how many years of software support they will be providing with this watch? Will be sad to see if it's the same like previous gens.
as long as they still use sd on the pixel watch, I think it will have the same 3 years updates... sucks but that's all we're gonna have to deal with until Google can make their own soc of the pixel watch... If PBP2 gets its own A1 tensor why not pixel watch???
I assume this Gemini info is correct: With the Strava app on your Pixel Watch and have the Strava Beacon running without a phone with Strava premium version. Thanks to the LTE connectivity on your Pixel Watch, you can: * Start and stop the Strava Beacon directly from your watch. * View the Beacon's status and battery level. * Send emergency contacts a link to your real-time location. This means you can enjoy the safety benefits of Strava Beacon even when you're not carrying your phone. Would like you to demo this Ray, if possible.
The prices at the online Google Store are different than what you showed at 0:45. For example the 45 mm model with wi-fi goes for $400. Maybe that price is good for the pre-order period only.
Yup, added a comment up time. I swapped the middle-two prices in my notes, and then somehow carried though from there. IT should be: - 41mm: $349 for WiFi, $449 for LTE edition - 45mm: $399 for WiFi, $499 for LTE edition
Are you able to transmit your location from the LTE watch without the BT connection to the phone? In other words, can I go for a walk without my phone, with my family getting an accurate measurement from the Google Maps “share real-time location” feature?
I really want to know this as well. Does anyone know? In the meantime, the sportwerks app for Pixel watch 2 is awesome. Best $5 I ever spent to avoid buying a different watch.
Ray, comparing to other self defining 'devices scientists' you continue to be the most serious and knowledgeable reviewer of health and sport devices. Anyway, I'm an happy FR255 owner and I was wondering if buy a newer Garmin watch such as FR 265. I'm also a Pixel 7 owner and I personally love the Google devices ecosystem, so your first insights convinced me to buy a Google Pixel Watch 3, because finally it seems that Big G steered toward a more serious sports watch. Anyway, Fitbit app is still really ugly, and for my training I will still use FR255 and Garmin coaching.
Ray you are a Strava user. It would be interesting for you to review the Strava App that runs on the Pixel Watch. It can send Strava Beacon from the LTE watch (with no phone present) so my family knows where I am running. Compared to my FR 945 LTE Live Track it does not seen as reliable or updated as often. I moved to a 965 so rely on Beacon. Even though I have to wear a 2nd watch the LTE allows calling and texting that cannot be done with the 945. I use a Pixel phone and Google Fi so the Pixel Watch is my best option.
I need a watch that can 1) Run the Strava app with auto-pause and audio feedback, and 2) Stream podcasts and You Tube Music over cellular with a very efficient UX and with no need to bring your phone. The Apple Watch's YT Music app can't stream, so I'm hoping this is the one.
Can you not sync the fitbit app with a third party app to bypass the fsct you cannot export the data via the app? Thst way you can compare the metrics with other devices?
Thanks for the great review. Do you know if the watch has a manual lap feature while running? Its the feature i use the most during track workouts (as i never lead in the session as a structured workout first). Thanks!
@@Dcrainmaker What is the reasoning for excluding ext hr support? Samsung did this too and it boggles my mind. Can't imagine it being too technically difficult. So why?
Thanks for the video! Quick question about the battery saver mode, you said in the video that the tilt-to-wake gesture still works in battery saver mode (i.e. the display activates when you raise your wrist)... Are you sure this is accurate? I'm just asking this because the Pixel Watch 2 also has a battery saver mode and this disables BOTH the always-on-display AND the tilt-to-wake gesture. Would be interesting to know if they actually changed this for the PW3.
Which WearOS watch would you recommend for a multi-sport endurance athlete? I'm leaning towards the Ticwatch Pro 5 Enduro because of the battery life, but the Pixel 3 and Galaxy 7 look pretty good too. I liked my Suunto 7 until the text messaging stopped working with the latest Android update and I have major screen burn making it tough to read.
Google store seems to be suggesting the structured workouts won't be coming to the older watches. Considering it's clearly just down to software that's very disappointing. Even Apple aren't that bad. If Garmin ever release a cellular forerunner/fenix watch I'd imagine it's going to completely decimate the Pixel and Apple watch sales.
@@sturdyvw The reality is, a lot more people are moving towards Apple Watches , and Wear OS watches, the full intergration with iOS and Android just makes them really tempting, the general consumer could care less about battery life, as Apple Watches dominate Smartwatch sales show.

If Garmin would implement this I would definitely go back to Garmin since as running watch Samsung is much worse.
