Thank you for showing us this very fine tutorial on Schottky diodes. I already know how to test this one but kept watching your video till the end because I expected you to drop helpful tips. It was worth the time. I learnt important information about peak reverse voltage and how this particular series of diodes are named. I'm sure your explanation on how to use ohms range to test it in the absence of diode mode on the multimeter would be helpful for a lot people. What makes this tutorial special is that you put some effort to show us where each pin of the diode is connected in a real circuit board. I don't mean to criticize anyone but I find this important aspect neglected on many tutorials. It's easy to learn how to test something when it stands alone. But when it's inside the network, things become dark and cloudy. I hope you'll keep us entertained with more tutorials like this one. Thank you!

Thank you kindly, I'm working on an smps from a power speakers, some of the diodes get about .5v one way and 2.5v the other way , they are US1D and RS1D, I have some spare PCB's and I found some ES1D on it, same voltage and amperage and Vf , can I harvest them? also, all the caps on the low side that are rated 470µf, are reading 430 to 440µf, is that close enough or do they need to be replaced? thank you again. The original problem was I was getting power to the primary, but nothing after that. I accidentally shorted the rectifier while testing and waiting on replacements, but that was I got before the magic smoke. thank you again.

if you have ohm mode in your dvm then it is ok to verify the diode in forward and reverse direction.
the same in ohm mode you may check the function same as in diode mode

I have a Dr Meter PS 3010-F 30v 10a bench power supply. It won't produce any output. Every once in awhile it will come on but the LEDs for the current and voltage flash off and on and there is an surface mount LED on the board that is on but it pulses from bright to dim. I've checked these and I think they are good. What could be the issue. Can't find anything on repair. Please help I can't afford a new one and need it asap.

      check tl431 circuit
might be some over voltage or over current protection is interrupting the circuit
