  • Grand Seiko makes stunning handcrafted watches, but often times with anything hand assembled they can be very expensive. Today I DIY assemble a budget homage to the Grand Seiko Elegance line of watches. How bad did i screw up? what was the result? Let's find out..

Excellent job David. You looked professional at assembling the beautiful looking finished watch. And wow an amazing job of capturing it on video and editing it perfectly! 💯👌👏

Thank you Dean! It was a test of steadiness and patience for sure! But I thoroughly enjoyed the process

Amazing video - not sure which was harder for you, building the piece or videoing it - both some brilliantly

Thank you for the kind words David. Definitely the most fun I’ve had in creating this watch content

I was in Türkiye recently and had an empriente multipurpose bag with me. They showed me a amzwatch pack and it looked like it

great watch but a shame that the crown has a ghost position, wouldn't it have been better to choose a dial with a date or a movement without a date and use the same dial? 🤔

Built the same with the cream dial. Lovely . The ar is incredible. The leather bracelet sucks. Replaced it by a Vario , one grey and one burgundy. Just fight with the crown stem, but quite easy to build ❤

Great video and courageous build. Sorry about the second hand 😢.

Thank you for the kind words. I later rectified it with a watchmaker who told me the hands were a smidge too small for the post and would prove difficult to get right- so I felt better in that sense 😅

The watch looks really good. How much did all the parts and the tools end up costing you? If the hands were too small for the post, as you were told by a watchmaker, did you contact the parts supplier and did they send you new hands? Thanks for your video.

    Great looking watch and size.

I have found that wiggling the dial feet gently back and forth with my finger breaks them off more cleanly than using a cutter. A little filing gets rid of the slight bump that is left.

Get a plier and twist the feet until it comes off. No pulling, no back and forth, no bending, no cutting. Just grip on and twist in the same direction over and over until it eventually comes off

I bought this popular video watch from nkuwan , which was originally priced at a few thousand dollars, but now it's only $380! It's really suitable to pick up feces!

That’s a lovely green SBGW from grand seiko.
    Where’s the modded watch?
Seriously though fantastic DIY product and steady assembly
Thank you, really enjoyed this video

Not really necessary. I never put any on the crown stems on my watches, and I have never had a crown unscrew from the stem.

You wish setting the stem to crown length was that easy.

Well, you were plenty convincing to get the tool kit, but I think I would need to take off about 20 years of my life to have the skills and patience to use it. Shaky hands run in the family.😅

Too many basic mistakes and missing tips - don't use this vid to build, there are many better ones on YT.
