Hey how do you keep consistent with the hihat part at the start? I often start swinging and it hurts my wrist. I’ve tried tightening my grip
It’s all dependant on how fast you can play your single stroke roll. Staying loose and relaxed is key as well - in the grip and the wrist. I recommend practicing your single stroke, isolating wrist motion and then finger motion. Find the speed where you find any part of your body tightening and do sets of 60 second single stroke at slower speeds, building up to increase your maximum. Let the stick bounce and have patience with it - no point practicing tight. 🫡👍

I was a late bloomer to Tool, was never on my radar when growing up but I definitely want to get it on the channel soon! Lots of requests in the comments for them.
