@@ramboog2654 Yeah it was a video of NetworkChucks's that got me to install Linux and give it another try it was titled "you need to learn Virtual Machines RIGHT NOW!!". You learn how to get a Linux VM up an running there and once I spun a Virtual Machine up myself I could mess around without risk of hurting other files on my pc. A big thing for me is if I look up how to do something like install a program Instead of just blindly putting the command in I want figure out what each component of the command is doing so for instance installing ffmpeg. "sudo apt install ffmpeg" sudo is elevating privilege, apt is calling the advanced package tool, install is telling apt what function to perform and ffmpeg is what program we are installing. For advanced Linux guys that is a no brainer but for me just two weeks ago I did not understand this. My biggest suggestion is to ask your self why anytime you type in the terminal ask why am I typing this and what is it doing. If you don't know what options are available for a command or application you are using I have found one of three ways generally gives you what you are looking for. A. either just type the command name with no argument ex. ffmpeg, B. ffmpeg --help, C. man ffmpeg generally one of those three will provide you with the information you are looking for about the options available for the command or application you are using. A bit long winded I wish you good luck on your journey and hopefully this helps! Edit: I should probably add that everything I have messed with has been Debian based so results may vary. Hey Chuck, like in all seriousness Abbeys little lesson on how to add a user was great, mostly just because it came from the perspective of someone who has NO experience with Linux. So the way she is explaining things is really good for other people around her knowledge level of linux. I actually think that creating some lessons, from the perspective of a brand new IT tech would be great. It doesn't necessarily need to be Abbey for this, but yknow. Anyways, great video as always!

My respect to Abbey! You really love your husband to do this hard coding stuff that you don't like ... although it seems like you had a lots of fun together😂 You are a wonderful family❤
I've tried teaching my wife basic file transfer with Filezilla. I will never try to teach her anything else about computers ...let alone Linux. If looks could kill after 20 min.
Once my wife asked what's so great about linux over Windows. First I was like, that's my chance! But where should I start... but then I told her, it runs faster than windows, even on older PC's. It's highly customizable in the way it looks and feels. And for example you can just write apt install followed by all the programs you want to use (as far as they are included in the package manager of course) and linux will install all of them without needing you to even open a browser or anything. And she was like, really? Ok, that's cool. That was a really romantic moment - at least for me. So I guess, we just need to figure out what parts of linux could add value to the way other people (e. g. our wifes) use their computer, than only talking about the parts WE like about linux.
I asked my wife if she would learn Linux.... she said "that's a computer, right?". I was like yeah but the OS not the "computer". She looked at me like I was a dumb a$$ and said "what's the difference?". Mine is WAY smart enough but this a "computer" and is just a tool not something to be built or tinkered with..... I'm here to "make it work"...
The closed captions XD I *think* I passed Linux+ quite comfortably (as in points, not as in "oh this is easy" because some of my knowledge was about outdated tools). Then again, my first Linux install was more like 24 *years* ago. :D
Abbey was awesome. Talk about sacrificing for the hubby. There aren't a lot of wives who'd do that and get a 404 (decent for starting at basically zero). Definitely have her on again and/or in more coffee spots.
Personally, I think she did quite well, coming from zero and after about 24h of uninterested learning scores 404, which was 300 points less than the pass score.
This was delightful! And really, from absolutely no knowledge to a 404 in that small time...that's actually decent!! Way to go!! Also her sarcasm is great. We'd love to see more of her on the channel (if she's willing, of course)
Great, fun, video LOL. Abbey, don't let that dude pressure you into doing anything else. With that said, it would be cool for you to demonstrate/teach some IT things you've learned, whatever that may be.
She did really well for never have tried learning linux and just trying for 24 hours. She’s Actually really smart for getting the score she did with only one day of work.
@@SIMULATAN For the first time, I installed Pop_OS, like many newbies do. Then I distro-hopped a couple of times and finally ended up on Arch Linux, and have never looked back.
I started with Linux back at Ubuntu 9.04 when i was about 16 and ordered a live disc, accidentally wiping my windows vista partition at the time.... the learning curve as a kid for such a simple system was real, but soon I had learned partitioning, installing multiboots and how to get/run certain software as well as use a terminal. Today, 12 years later I am an avid linux user whom utilizes debian based systems primarily; kali, parrot, ubuntuMate, mint etc... I only use windows for one program now- out of a virtualbox VM (bluebeam revu pdf drafting software). my daily is mint cinnamon for its ease of use and solid package content. I also run a Ryzen hackintosh opencore bootloader and its how i multiboot macOS for clout when I have people over lol. You dont need windows, most steam games run on Linux too with Proton. nice to see that the community has come this far where people are geniunely interested...

All of it was so well put and rightly recommended that I (I guess I can say on behalf of us) didn't skip almost nothing and it never lost the fun of watching. The platforms and coffee time were all cool to see and we didn't want to skip as we feel compelled to do in other channels. Great work you guys. Also, she's got a resting death threatening stare face and it's awesome to see beside you who look so friendly. It must be a handfull to keep up with server mantainance and that stare lol (on behalf of us) we loved you guys appearing together and it's fun as hell to see someone going through the command line
If we get 50k likes on this video....she'll try again!!!

@@DerTypOfficial please the typo x"D sorry i don't intend to be annoying but it's very impactful , our wives*
@@nana00037 think I got it, thx. I'm not a native speaker, so it wasn't that obvious to me :D
I loved this, definitely want to see more. Now I am going to have to get my wife to learn Linux! :-)
Uh oh! How's it been? Has she forced you not to watch RUclips anymore?
I asked my wife if she would learn Linux.... she said "that's a computer, right?". I was like yeah but the OS not the "computer". She looked at me like I was a dumb a$$ and said "what's the difference?". Mine is WAY smart enough but this a "computer" and is just a tool not something to be built or tinkered with..... I'm here to "make it work"...
This guys wife is a total gem!
You explain things in one of the most easiest ways. Whenever i find something difficult to do, i switch to your videos.
There we go, that's proof you can be a nerd and still have a good family
Was there any doubt???
@@Decimo10X *ahem*. Let's begin with...
we definitely need more content like this
The 404 joke was so funny 😂
So funny and instructive! You should make more vidoes with your wife like this.😇😇😇
that's awesome Chuck..get her into ur videos often
Can we appreciate the fact that Abby is so Spontaneous and they both Fit with each other so perfectly!❤❤
You do not need to force yourself to learn Linux, Linux will force you.
9:50 sorry, but it does make sense 🤣
That was pretty fun to watch. My wife would never even try, so Kudos to Abby!! Abby rocks!!
Time to force my imaginary girlfriend to learn 800 pages worth of penetration testing knowledge. Let's go!
Great, fun, video LOL. Abbey, don't let that dude pressure you into doing anything else. With that said, it would be cool for you to demonstrate/teach some IT things you've learned, whatever that may be.
Go Abbey you know you can do it, lets show these guys who rocks x
She did really well for never have tried learning linux and just trying for 24 hours. She’s Actually really smart for getting the score she did with only one day of work.
Damn this guy scored big
The magnificent beard helps.
@@portman8909 nah bro aint no way girls like beard?
@@saibadam Many do and it’s literally the only way to hide a weak chin / jaw without surgery.

this is like... the best video ever made Chuck and Abbey
Wow this is like a TV show. Production value is great
Linux mode: Activated ✅
Is switching to Linux as my main everyday OS enough?
Edit: Not even joking, that's the best decision I've made in my entire life.
Which distro? Cause it was one of the worst decisions in *my* life
@@SIMULATAN For the first time, I installed Pop_OS, like many newbies do. Then I distro-hopped a couple of times and finally ended up on Arch Linux, and have never looked back.
@@ducky1681 with what desktop environment? Because my Manjaro Gnome was absolutely unstable
@@SIMULATAN I use KDE Plasma on a day-to-day basis, the only desktop environment that suits my needs and is also really customizable
@@ducky1681 I use gnome because of the shell extensions but it seems like KDE can do that too so I might give it a shot
You've done a great job I guess lol
Bruh the vid just started
I already watched bout a 2by4 of it already lol
@@endlessparadox6989 oh ok
@@Arick_jr lol Yeah
Way to go Abbey! Although you didn't pass, you buckled down and tried. That's way more than most people even in IT will do. Great job!
Omg she is absolutely adorable! We need to see more of her knocking this stuff out. Give her more than 24 hours and im sure she will nail it!
this is so staged, she is way too beautiful to be the wife of a linux user.
i like the video , the flow was funny and the sarcasm i like it . i think you should upload more videos like this with title like linux for family .
Getting score 404 was a comedy cherry on a top. Loved this content ! :D
I did it in a month, but that test was rough. Abby is awesome.
Do it Abbey!!! Definitely want more Abbey videos :)
This was so fun to watch, big applause for her giving it a shot 💪
one of the few videos, under which likes bring A LOT of value.
You got to love this cyber geek family, all of them
😁✌️
bro ur my hero, n ur wife is sooooooo cool, my wife would disown me, lol, good job chuckswife ! just proved any one can do anything aslong as they try. n i doubt any person whos never used linux before could pass in 24 hours
How can you make this product placemente and sponsorship without it getting bad tho..
Great video and frickin adorable family!
