Hi everyone! Let me know what you think about the new version of Fluent in the comments below! :)
Thanks for the video on new features. It's great to see the improvements to the addon.
Man you are SO GOOD! I watched the Dev's tutorial and doesn't even explain which key to use to even get it going. You always do such good tutorials and never miss anything out.
Outstanding Add on! Looking forward to buying and using it. Anything that makes my workflow easier and more creative makes me happy. It also makes my producer happy.
I also appreciate these UI/UX improvements - just last week I reinstalled/updated HOPs and was watching tuts to reacquaint, and get back to grips w/using it.
Just watching your explorations reminded me of how “more accessible” Fluent is - especially w/this update having the various “right on your cursor” feature exposure as you’re working; not so much as remembering key shortcuts - if you’re someone like me who isn’t modeling everyday (3D is a ‘weekend’ hobby that I wish I had more time for!)
So I def appreciate these UX improvements! I’ll be updating and reinstalling pronto!
Thanks for the heads up, and especially your channel - PROPS!
Loving Fluent 2.0! This intro was a great help for making the decision to jump in. Thank you!
i think Fluent is the best add on for hard surface modeling. easy and powerful comparing to box cutter HardOps or speedflow which are complicated i find.
what about Hardops? Im curious to add it to my glory hole of addons LOL
One thing I’m wondering about is whether I’ll be forced using that gizmo for things like rotation etc (I hate gizmos) in Fluent?
I like fluent, at times, I find it more intuitive than boxcutter! Great video! I didn't realize he updated his program! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
This is the BEST (though too short!) overview of Fluent 2.0. Maybe you could do a video where you create some sort of non-functional "thingie" that would showcase features in context.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention, it looks good.
I really like the effort the dev has put into the UI, with extensive use of icons and visual menus. I think that's actually really important, to make these things as easy to use as possible. Having loads of add ons is all very well, but if they all rely on unique and obscure keyboard combinations, it all begins to feel like hard work. Not fun at all.
I mention this, because I'm about to go back and have another go at getting Mesh Machine (by MACHIN3) to do what I want it to. My previous experiences with it were a bit frustrating, I didn't find it very intuitive to use. Useability is so important.
I agree on the UI and keybindings. I do try to find some use in addons I buy and for mesh machine I love his version of booleans w/ stashes and the "unf*ck" tool.
great tool, thanks :)
I just purchased this and it is really nice. A sci-fi robot tutorial would be nice.
I Purchased this Friday and just downloaded the update. The cloth function is also pretty amazing. (be sure to download Instant Mesh as directed and install it in the preferences path folder for it to work) Great tool overall.
For sure - thanks!
I have install the Instant mesh but still not working the cloth function.. i m using macbook please advise if you any solution
This can be easily an way to build house/hotel! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Question I’m curious about is if someone’s tried both Fluent 2 and HardOps/BoxCutter and would like to share their personal opinions about each.
Your tutorial shows the non-destructive cuts. I assume that these can be applied like a modifier to make them final/destructive meshes?
hello @The CG Essentials......how make viewport with clear object outline...its like sketchup view ..thanks
Can you enter in the distance via numpad for say offset or array
How does this compare with Hardops Boxcutter?
which one is better?
This looks like a neat tool! I was wondering if the tool supported keyboard input for all values, such as spacing an array of cuts exactly at 1.1m apart, etc?
So intuitive addon
:)
is it possible to keyframe the movements ??
I really enjoy your videos. I notice that you don't go into deep detail which is fine but are you able to maybe post a link in your videos with a tutorial that covers EVERYTHING. Then if we are interested and want to buy something we'll feel more comfortable doing so after knowing the full capabilities of the add on?
There's a ton of documentation on the Blender Market Page and on the developer's RUclips channel. I've done videos on Fluent before, but I'm not always going to be able to cover every single nook and cranny of an add-on, especially one that I didn't create
@@TheCGEssentials Alright that's fine. I was just hoping you could post links to videos that cover everything.
One example for me is the archipack addon. It's awesome and I love the free version but I'm hesitant to pay that much for an addon until I'm able to fully see it in use. I really am thinking about purchasing the addon but I haven't found any good videos that fully cover an in depth review/tutorial on it.
Nice ❤️👍👌
Thanks 🤗
Can you drive the design with diemnsions and constraints? Like a precision mechanical design? Or is this only for games, where precision and sizes do not realy matter? Thank you
from arrimus tutorial : "dont use blender to do CAD things. Use CAD software if you want precision." btw he used a new app called "plasticity" to do a more accurate dimension. it is not released yet as of today, and still in alpha or beta. i personally use rhino3d for it. blender is just for games and vfx.
I must have missed it but I'm trying to find Instant Mesh as I received an error on something. Where do I download? I purchased the Power version.
NM, I found it. thanks
hey, Justin! Do you think Fluent is easier to use than the KitOPs addons? Also, the Fluent Materializer is something I might want to get into a little later down the road.
I think that comparison is trying to compare apples and oranges. This is more of a hard surface modeling tool - KitOps is more for kitbashing and putting different kinds of models together
@@TheCGEssentials Maybe I was thinking of HardOps or Machine Tools... Could be I'm just plain ol' stupid, too! _lol_
I've been messing with plasticity lately. My thing is my pc is going out so this may be my last run with 3D modeling until I can bounce back from the train wreck of the last few years.
I have to admit it...I didn't like the new setup....but after watching your presentation, I will give it another try,
HUUUUUUU-WATSUP GUISE!!! ❤
:)
Looks like CAD modeling adaptation to the polygonal world.
Hello~ I am a hobby RUclipsr.
Is it possible to create a pipe that can be created on a different version of the pipe, but it could be the 2.1 version?
I solved it.~
Upgrading Blender to 3.3.1 works fine.
better than box cutter?
FLUENT IS SO HARD TO USE ON SMALL MONITORS UGH
Is this a one time purchase?
Yes
Why didn't you show any of the cloth sim?
No real reason - just didn't get it in there?
@@TheCGEssentials All is good, do you know how to get it to work? i keep getting an error that says "Instant Mesh path is empty" "Check the preferences"
@@rockstar745896 from @TonyG718 above " (be sure to download Instant Mesh as directed and install it in the preferences path folder for it to work)"
@@acadgatsu Where is Instant Mesh and what preferences path folder?
@@rockstar745896 If you scroll down the settings for fluent where you toggled it on after installing there is a button that links to download instant mesh - you have to download that, unzip it then paste the location of the .exe for that in the fluent settings.
this addon is good.however bolean modifier + edgesplit modifier give the same results.

This newer version does not work for me not happy with it. I use a Wacom tablet and it does not work great at all, not like the last one.😝 Going back sorry to say and sticking with Boxcutter Hardops.
Next time please go into slightly more detail with regard to pros, cons and alternatives to working in this way. Or the difference between this type of modifier v. others.
I can't help feel the new UI is a misstep, it certainly doesn't seem to be as friendly if you're using a touchpad, it switches panels way too easily and gets frustrating quickly.
Sorry to hear that, though I will say if you're working in 3D in general I think you're going to see a big productivity increase using an actual mouse instead
@@TheCGEssentials Yeah, I have a mouse but generally get on fine with the touchpad as the laptop is on the arm of the chair. I use a graphic tablet more than a mouse, barely even used a mouse for about twenty years now. I'll stick with Fluent, maybe the UI is just a bit too different to adjust to quickly. Thanks for the reply, great channel!
If your working in Blender you should work with a graphic tablet a mouse or touchpad is really limiting your work flow.
I bought Fluent a couple of weeks ago.
The first day, I fought it for 1 1/2 hours.
The second day, I fought it for 1 hour.
I haven't tried to use it since.
Hi Justin. I sent a message. Can you check your mails? I want to cooperate with you. Thanks
Damnit, I feel like I wasted money on boxcutter.........
Nah - it's a great tool too! You really can't go wrong on either one
I am getting an error "a problem has occurred. Probably due to the creation of a null object" -what can I do to fix this?
Hi:) 2.0 is a great UI improvement but still can't get cloth panel to work - M1 Mac Can you help? I have 'Instant Meshes' app in HD/Library/ApplicationContents. No matter what I do still get this message (below) when trying to launch the cloth panel. Where to put the 'instant-meshes-macos.zip' have unzipped to get 'Instant Meshes' app. Have tried the applications and preferences folders to.
I don't know - I don't have a Mac so I can't really help on this - I'd ask the developer
did you get it to work? I have the same issue
