Sorry, the weakness chart numbers are correct but the formula below apparently is missing a -5 modifier for Fatalis. So you can trust the chart but ignore the calculation (it works like that for basic monsters though).

@@benturtl9076 Yes that's the normal formula, but for fatalis it's (100-75)*0.25=6.25 and to this number you substract 5 which means 6.25-5=1.25 and you take de decimals so for the head it increases from 75 to 76. so (100-x)*0.25-5 = extra HZ damage (fatalis only formula)

Another tip but was too weapon specific for me to include but sleep fatalis in front of the Dragonator (just fatcaster and grab it and put on temporal mantle) for double damage on one of the dragonators. Do rotary on the fallen beast and it dies right there usually lol.
I used to try doing this but RNG would work against me and Fatalis would never approach the dragonator. He just winds up killing me with long distance giant blasts. The time investment of farcastering, changing build, and then coming back seems worth it unless he does BS like this.
While I didn't really talk about it, armor skill that can help is Partbreaker LV3, Divine Blessing LV5, Heath Boost, Clutch Claw Boost, Fire Resistance (if your def isn't that high, if it is, i dont run it myself), Free Meal LV3, Fortify are great choices that might help you out. @gaijin hunter Does the Tool Specialist lvl 5 really that matter for either Solo or Online for Fatalis? I mean I already beat him with Switch Axe. By using Lunastra armor and Safi switch axe and also Gold Rathian?
What helped me more (without fata set) is evade extender, its similar to behemoth solo in that the longer roll distance helps a lot distancing away from the massive hitboxes vs trying to i-frame it
The go to is def tool specialist 5 with fire/temporal mantles, so you have 100% up time. I run with -7 fire res but the fire mantle is like 40 extra res. Also evade extender is a must if you r using HBG.
I'm surprised no one is recommending mushroomancer 3 seriously 14 max potions (2 Mex potions + 2 Ez max potions + 10 manglelords) and 15 dash juses ( 5 dash juses + 10 devil's blight) is good for this fight.
I finally just beat him earlier today. Evade extender actually helped quite a bit with it too, really makes it easier to dodge some of his larger explosive attacks.
Biggest tip: The Gattling Ballista does D A M A G E Seriously, if you tenderize the head beforehand you can get really easy headbreaks later in the hunt
This tutorial is amazing! I love how you talked about the psychological approach too. I feel like I’m better at the game because of this video, and suddenly challenges that seemed impossible like solo alatreon or fatalis seem entirely doable. I’ve never beat fatalis before but I’m sure that I’ve got this now. Thanks a lot
as a rule of thumb most of his flamethrower attack is safe if you want to clutch the head, while the fireball attacks are not. and also when he does the nova its wise to run a bit to the side instead of straight under the fatalis because its cone shaped, you have less distance traveled to safety if you run slightly to the left/right.
Thanks for this video! This is the first Fatalis fight video I have seen on the internet where the youtuber didn't tell me about how "easy" the first section of Fatalis is. Like, this really made me feel like if I keep trying then I will be able to do it instead of me feeling like I could never accomplish it because it is isn't easy for me...
Yeah the ingame elemntal weakness isnt accirate even if its the "same" it may be not. If ypu wanna know whats the real weakness you should always look it up on kiranico or other forums.
ACTUALLY helped me to understand what should i be knowing when running Fatalis phase 1. I'm new and im currently having hard time to clear Fatalis and i've been searching vids of tips and guides but i dont see any BUT thanks to you sir i know what i should do and have things set up for my next attempt on fatalis! Thank you
3:25 Heavy Artillery only has two levels max Also another useful tip is, that you can pretty much interrupt every attack of Fatalis by throwing two dragon pods at him
There's a limit to how many times you can dragon pod him. If you do it too much in a short period of time, you'll have to wait a bit again bc he ignores it
If you are using dual blades, Using the slinger bust to cancel out of a combo is extra safe. it will even interrupt him during its counter attack. used correctly, its amazing for crowd controlling him in a team fight. Evade extender and latent Power, crisis keeps you alive lol.
Used the tips on this video yesterday to finally beat Fatalis with a friend. I can’t express how excited I am to play a new monster hunter game after jumping on the series after world and rise had both had their expansions completed. Got hooked back on to the series by my said friend and we completed sunbreak a couple months back and we planned to finish world before wilds come out. I can’t wait to jump into a new game from the start good luck to you Gaijin in the new year.
i have some a bit of tip too so if you feel like you can't outrun the flame try Assassin's Creed Mantle it make you run faster than normal so you never miss the run part ^ ^ have a great hunt
Another tip is that when you try to flinch shot him into a wall, you don’t have to spin him around to ensure the enrage because if he hits the wall it’s a guaranteed enrage
That 360 fire breath tips is rrreeeeaaalllyyy helpful, gonna try it the next time I fight fatalis, I always cart because of it since I'm not really sure where is the safe spot when he does that move!
That tip 11 actually can be predicted where he will be flying to. I noticed a pattern that Fatalis will fly toward the farthermost side from where he is. It's not random, so I use that to predetermined where I should run towards to.
I hope people can appreciate that to get these very useful tips, you have to fight him and "suffer" for hours upon hours. I know coz i did it myself and it took a couple of days before all of it came together. Such a great fight. Also pro tip: if you're solo don't get on the ballista unless he's in the air or very close to it. Mantle or not the cone breath (especially in phase 3) will destroy you before you can get off.
tip for longsword: during the fire cone, you can do a helmsplitter, hold the control stick/movement key towards where fatalis is going to stand up (if he's on his hind legs mode), and you'll get a guaranteed full helmsplitter on the head.
Worth mentioning in a pinch the flame cone can be blocked with any shield , with minor hp and stamina chip dmg. Even the sns can easily survive. Good vid :)
I have never, ever used GS in World or Iceborne, but I made the Ruiner Nerg GS to get the second horn break and it works very well. Baiting him to do the cone breath is a great way to learn his moves, and you can get evil eyes, too. I think I'll give GS a real chance now, it's oddly rewarding to see big damage numbers. I'm not used to that, lol
Yeah me and my friend we are having a really hard time trying to beat Fatalis. I was able to reach it for the 3rd breath attack but I panic and I end up failing the quest. I didnt know I just had to position myself below Fatalis so thanks so much for your tip and the info. Ive following your channel ever since MH4U got release in America and you are my best source of info in Monster Hunter. Happy Hunting!
Thanks for the tips I’ve personally beat him but you have very good information and bet it will help many people I think this is a good wrap up for fatalis to
I beat him the day before you posted this video without any guide, I love monster hunter, and I’m so glad this fight was super hard, this was an amazing experience.
My tip would be to work on your item loadouts, you can autocraft 5 max potions and 10 ancient potions without needing to go back to camp. Dust of life for multiplay too and you'll be golden. Add some smoke bombs and whetfish scale pluses, now that's a stew.
Never seen so much content about how to beat a monster. I remember in the old Freedom/PsP times, it was an absolute surprise, when fatalis suddenly was there and nobody expected it.
Great video. I would like to add something that I observed about Fatalis' head. It seems that it will only break when he is in his "normal state". AKA, he is not going for his ultimate attack, not binded, and not knocked on the ground. If you meet the damage threshold to break his head when he is, for example, knocked on the ground, you can just throw a slinger pod in his face and it should break. I think the devs put it in to guarantee that you get those extra knockdowns when you break his head both times. Hope that helps.
I’ve seen people survive the second burst of his super fire IF they’re close to full health when it lands. So if you think your teammates aren’t going to make it in time, you might just save their lives if you pop a lifepowder.
Yes, in phase 3 and beyond, the super fires that you are expected to run toward him to survive, they are survivable if you're at full health when they "power up". If you're not going to make it to the edge, you can consume a max potion after a handful of seconds, just before it hits, to survive.
The observe point is just how old school games used to be - think Beat Em Ups: very hard until you know the answer to each "question" that an enemy throws at you! Excellent combat design
Good luck hunters, I've been dropping in random rooms to help, got two kills out of 10+ fights tips: -canon missed or didn't make fatalis fall? go to the balista and fire at the chest -max potions are key to rescue your butt out off bad situations, most of the time -don't be afraid of going back to camp with farcaster -(superman jump? dive jump) jump away continuously from the normal cone fire attack if you're caught deep in the attack zone, this attack will usually trigger if someone is about medium distance from the front of fatalis -load the third canon if you have the chance, not mandatory but it helps for part breaks when fatalis is around there -see someone flinch shot a standing fatalis? get ready to clutch claw and add another flinch shot for a wall bang, you have like a 5 second window to clutch onto fatalis -if you can, gem in fire resistance -other skills that are nice to have on the quest is evade extender if you can fit it on, saved my butt countless time
Balista dmg gets to a topple, so has to be done anyway imho. I also do not get how I can join to that big amount of cannonballs misses or ppl using them with no heavy artillery. Just play it safe, the big topples and dmg from cannons are too good to miss on them D:
Just a random heads up, you probs already know this tbf. The GL drop rates for great spiritvein gems is really low. I spent a couple hours grinding Temp.Teo and Temp.ruiner (with geoligist on!!) and i only got 1... But the halloween festival starts end of this week and the event for the great spiritvein gems will be back along with it. Im personally waiting for this so i can augment my armour a bit easier :)
You can spam Superman dives to take minimal damage from his cone breath. Also you can survive his nukes after he destroys the gate, but only if your Devine blessing procs
Beat him quite a few times with my weapons of choice (IG) I then decided to pick up a SA for the first time in my life and just face-roll ZSD spam him now. I now have converted to the House of SA.
Recommended tip (as I’ve killed this thing 6 times already) : Ready elemental res (L) with felyne moxie & roll for a felyne insurance After 10 mins into the fight: Eat for safeguard, you have total of 5 faints (special event) & 7 faints (special assignment)
I really didn’t find ele res to help at all in my solo hunts, I farmed for the armor by myself and it seems most of the damage is raw so I wouldn’t replace eating attack up large imo
I come in with Ele Res every time cause I'm running Alatreon armor, but honestly...I start with 70 Fire Res and those attacks still torch HARD, not sure the Ele Res meal is a really a deal breaker unless it keeps you from blighting. And unless you're cycling fast quests in between each run to change your rolls, getting Insurance to roll is a rare outcome for me, not something I could expect to come in with.
@@aetherwise2159 Surprisingly His attacks damage are mostly from physical and not elemental unlike lunastra. so 0 or - 5 ve fire resistance is okay. FIRE RESISTANCE wont save you except for moxie. if not eating for moxie go for attack L.
@@ram3377 Good to know, I was surprised to find that after they HYPER stressed how crazy Fatalis' fire was, Fire Res ultimately didn't feel that helpful. I guess that's why they made it mostly raw, so it follows the theme of "woah, Fatalis has SPECIAL extra strong fire! You can't escape it even with logical game mechanics!"
Casual tip for 2 players hunts: Equip your palicos with paralysis weapons, it will at the very least proc the status once and its a very big opening to get 👌🏼 hope this helps
I've killed him like 10 times, my tips: get fire resistance until you have 20 points, it prevents you from being on fire if you are hunting with friends, one person should be using the cannons/ballista every time they respawn, you can knock him down like 3-4 times per hunt depending on how much you miss. With that me (HH w/ heavy artillery) and my friend (GS) broke his head the second time before his chest turned red
@@angelomendoza6666 I never failed because I was missing time, I failed because someone died. I was also eating for felyne moxie and fire plage will make it useless
for tip 12 i've found that when the attack starts avoid his neck/chest areas at 12:45 you see his head kick up, then he sweeps it to his side when he starts the sweep as 12:47 his chest and neck are safe whilst he does the 360 so you can get some hits in on the chest for 4 seconds or so.
The attack that most of the time cart me is the one where Fatalis puts a line of fire on his side. A tip that I would like to share is to use 2 dragon pods to stagger Fatalis when a hunter is pinned down.
There is also a safe spot from the 360 breath attack in Fatalis' belly on the opposite side of where he starts the flame. If the head isn't broken the flames are too large to do this, but one head break means you can nuzzzle up in his armpit and be totally clear if he does it while your close. It makes a great opening for ez damage. Also, Gaijin, not trying to backseat game, but I would recommend you use the second strong charge on GS when you bait out the cone breath attack. You'll get more damage out than if you just full charge the initial draw. My set usually hits for high 200-ish on first hit, then anywhere from low 700 to high 800 depending on how much I charge the strong charge. If you can be swinging your sword as the attack starts you will 100% be able to get the full charge strong slam. every little bit counts!
Thanks for this 3 years old vid. Honestly Alatreon and Fatalist mission made me realize how bad and reckless i am playing this game. I got carried in Alatreon and carried even harder in Fatalis mission and just stayed at the camp after I spent 4 carts by myself. I'll definitely properly beat this big ass dragon one day
One thing I noticed using GS is using the 2 dragon pods to flinch Fatalis out of whatever he's doing also gives you an opening for head snipes. So if you get frustrated that he never seems to want to do the cone and keeps throwing fireballs at you, flinch and snipe. Also flinching is good to stop him running away to the other side of the map when you want to keep him near the dragonator (for wall bangs, easy access to barricade, etc).
14:45 had me cracking up 🤣 good stuff! I’ve killed him 3 times but I’m still not super comfortable with the fight. This is JUST what I needed! Thank you! 😊
-tip number #4 Sometimes fatalis does 4 fireballs (or more!) instead of three just to troll you, goddamn you king XD! instead of counting to three just wait until he's done with the animation. -tip number #11 try to keep you and your teammates health full while running (wide-range/lifepowder) the second more powerful fire breath won't cart you if your health is full/almost full (i think it's a pure damage? cmiiw) thanks for the tips GH!, that cone breath bait is really useful
I really suggest tenderizing the head and chest before you roaming balista and if you want to use it to break the head binder if you miss the head alittle it will just hit the chest nothing lost You should bring 20 fire res so you dont burn but if you dont bring felyne groomer to get rid of fire faster
One cannot kill Fatalis without knowing its attacks and how to avoid/exploit them. There will be a good amount of failures at first which is expected from a super powerful final boss. You just have to keep plugging away at him until you get the fight down in your head. As I always say, you cant have high DPS if you're carting. And if there's any motivation to defeating him despite all the failures, the armor and weapons. 90% of sets after beating Fatalis will be using Fatalis pieces if not the full set outright and most will be using his weapons because of their insane power (except the light bowgun which has extremely low raw compared to the other weapons)
Hello dear gaijin hunter - thanks for the video it really helped me to understand Fatalis moves and so I stoped dying instantly - I always need someone to tell me what to look for and this video was key. Thanks again for this really good video
Great set of general tips. I'd add the general bring max potion and combines for them, and have use max potion on radial, if you have the combines you can auto craft. Same for ancient potions if you can. 1 more kill needed to get all titles from him and ill be done I think.
I've found something bizarre in sos, ppl actually taking advantage of special assignment quest, join the quest and intentionally disconnect themselves so they can solo with 5 carts. Happened to me when trying to help sos assignment, making our hunts trio which is VERY difficult.
It was somewhat mentioned, but when Fatalis is doing the fire breath attacks where you have to run underneath him, ALWAYS run at an angle towards the edges. One time, I got staggered by his wind pressure right in front of the dragonator, and I STILL was able to make it (though just barely).
Some tips from me.. if you can't deplete your roaming balista in time just move it to one corner.. if later he does a big fire ulti from that near direction the balista will be in a safe spot so you can empty the rest onto its face whilst he won't move untill he finished the big ulti. Also if you're weapon has a shield. Take guard up.. it saved me on my solo run I had it block his full spin breath whilst he was on his last hit of health. These 2 things is pretty much what allowed be to solo him.. (that and Heavy artillery on my build) EDIT: ooh yeah always have Dragonpods on you. 2 shots stagers Fatalis and it will safe your life aspecially when you get squished against the floor from all his belly flops.
1 thing for the tip 6: if you have a GS or a Lance you can block the cone and create a safe zone behind you so if you and another hunter are at cone range you can actualy take less dmg and the other one doesn't take any
When Fatalis first came out i tried many times and failed over and over. I gave thinking i'm just mediocre at the game and i had fun up until this point. With MH Rise quickly approaching i decided to give Fatalis another many tries, i didn't feel like i had really "beaten" MHW iceborne. This video was the most helpful in the fight and because of it I finally got my 1st kill this past weekend! Thanks gaijin hunter! Now I'm ready for Rise!
Just want to throw some of my strats into the ring: 1) For solo and duo farming don't get the cannon flinch. With 6-7 heavy artillery shots or 8 without you put him at the threshold for the flinch. As far as I can tell it doesn't decay. The moment you have access to the roaming Ballista pop off small bursts into the chest(preferably when grounded). With ten or fifteen shots you will get the flinch then. With a softened head the Ballista with heavy artillery does 63 on the head. I've yet to have a hunt where in doing this I don't get a head break in phase 2. 2) If you plan on farming him for weapons( or for all 30 cortexes need for layered), don't complete the special assignment. Go in with a para plunderblade cat. Break the head twice and the chest, use the dragonair to break the wings if you can, and return from quest. By the time I "killed" Fatalis 3 times I already had fully armor and 8 weapons made and upgraded. 3) Save all CC for phase 3 if you can. That's crunch time and keeping him still to get the last breaks or just do damage is the hardest. 4) Two dragon pods get a flinch. Get for saving someone, but for the love of God use sparingly. I personally save them for it's "Slip n' Slip" and "Comin fo dat ass" movement attack to try and keep it from moving across the whole map and by a wall for easy bangs. Hope this helps someone, and happy hunting!
Great video! Definitely gave me some new things to try. You're awesome! One tiny detail: Heavy Artillery only goes up to level 2, not 3. You say 2 at one point in the video but the screen text says 3, might be a typo.
I dont know...I had a S.A. answer my SoS who kept killing himself trying to cheese the head. He just spammed the head bursts even when he was getting burned alive during the attack. He carted us out despite my wide-range/speed eating efforts to keep him alive. Gracious me...>.
@@timsar4809 haha don't worry, I've still got enough dps to carry my weight, I just use a Friendship charm so that my potions are everyone's potions >.
@@timsar4809 lol just remember I don't equip WR for me, I use it because of the merry bleach-drinkers who build for ful DPS but then can't stay alive past the first section. I'll stop using WR when ya'll stop carting :P My full set of Fatalis gear says I'm doing something right ;)
Surprised no mention here of Tool Specialist, temp/rock mantles and ZSD. You can plunder-blade TS Secret from him (two armour pieces), then take a Saffi shatter axe with a health regen augment and drill it into his head until he dies. The biggest flaw in Fatalis is that he lacks a good way to keep you off of his head. His fireballs will knock you but the damage is low, so you can just mantle through them (rocksteady or tempo) and try to avoid clutching him when he does his forward charge attacks (more damaging). With switchaxe, the fight becomes mainly just about maintaining your uptimes for ZSD and the mantles, plus some of these general survival tips. Maybe one other thing to mention here is spacial awareness during phase transitions in the fight. For example don't be in the far south of the map when Fatalis is nearing the end of phase 2, or you won't have time to get to safety.
The fireball attack, especially for gs users, is actually an opening. Notice how the third one he keeps his head down a bit lower? Run towards his face and charge while you wait to fire the ball, then swing when he brings his head down!
With his cone breath attack, i would also recommend blocking it if you have a weapon with that option. Even Great Sword and SnS can help you survive it if you don't have time to put your weapon away and super dive. Doesn't drain as much health or stamina as you'd expect, even without guard up/constitution.
When it is down on all fours and you flinch it with two dragon pods, it will do a recovery animation that you can use to do a level 2/3 GS charge with proper positioning (just remember where his was before the flinch).
Personal Tip: Evade Window 5 did absolute wonders for me, being able to i-frame breath and tail sweeps can open some great punishes, don't get greedy though.
The tip I'll put in the hat is that the Assassin's Hood Mantle is really good if you're having a hard time with the 3rd phase's ultimate attacks. The movement speed buff is a literal life saver. You could be across the map and still dart out of the cone fast enough.
Another way to "avoid" the cone is with a shield/weapon that can guard, you can guard the whole thing without guard up and the tick damage shouldnt kill you before he finishes
Another tip: you can clutch to any fire breath attack for a easy tenderize on the head. WATCH OUT for fireballs, those are no safe. Sweaping breath, vertical breath, cone breath, and the one where he sort of crawls while doing it. All those attacks are safe to clutch claw.
Not really a tip for say but for those that may not have gear up to par for fatalis. Fun Fright festival is just around the corner it'll be a good opportunity to grind for decos, great spirt vain gems, armor spheres, zenny, etc ^_^
Final tip: *Prepare to die.* I know the Dark Souls comparisons with that line are inevitable but seriously, I haven't wiped against any monster as much as Fatalis, even back in my Tri days where I had _zero_ clue what I was doing. Even other ultrahard monsters like AT Nergi/Xeno did not make me wipe as many times as Fatalis. Even the top 0.01% of players will expect to wipe against Fatalis on their first attempt minimum. Just make sure that with every wipe, you learn something and hopefully get a little further than last wipe. As long as you keep up that process, Fatalis is going to die just like everything else. It took me 7 wipes personally before I finally got his moveset down enough to kill it.

Also tenderize the chest and aim for it, if done properly with a smokebomb it almost always causes a knockdown which means free damage to the head.
even more if hes get agitated and trigger agitator skills
thanks for all the MH content over the years! :D
Incredible!
This is so in-depth & well organized, if I hadn't already beaten Fatalis before I saw this vid I'm certain I would have afterwards!
14:43 I died, so perfect in the middle of a calm guide xD
Thanks for this video! This is the first Fatalis fight video I have seen on the internet where the youtuber didn't tell me about how "easy" the first section of Fatalis is. Like, this really made me feel like if I keep trying then I will be able to do it instead of me feeling like I could never accomplish it because it is isn't easy for me...
I was watching for the knowledge, almost choked from the random scream! 😆 Man I needed that laugh!
Huh. I didn't realise Ice was that much better than the other "1 star" elements shown on the in game guide for Fatalis.
Yeah the ingame elemntal weakness isnt accirate even if its the "same" it may be not. If ypu wanna know whats the real weakness you should always look it up on kiranico or other forums.
The physcological advice at the end is actually pretty good. Half the battle is the Dragon, the other half is the mind..
*He terrifies me*
ACTUALLY helped me to understand what should i be knowing when running Fatalis phase 1. I'm new and im currently having hard time to clear Fatalis and i've been searching vids of tips and guides but i dont see any BUT thanks to you sir i know what i should do and have things set up for my next attempt on fatalis! Thank you
Wow, the way you broke everything down really encourages me to solo it. I’ll be watching this video a few times until i beat it.
3:25 Heavy Artillery only has two levels max
Also another useful tip is, that you can pretty much interrupt every attack of Fatalis by throwing two dragon pods at him
Red Hellgar I’m surprised that it wasn’t mentioned. That’s VERY important
There's a limit to how many times you can dragon pod him. If you do it too much in a short period of time, you'll have to wait a bit again bc he ignores it
@@robertyoung406 Ah this happened to me a few times and I wondered if I just missed him
If you are using dual blades, Using the slinger bust to cancel out of a combo is extra safe. it will even interrupt him during its counter attack. used correctly, its amazing for crowd controlling him in a team fight.
I can’t wait to jump into a new game from the start good luck to you Gaijin in the new year.
i have some a bit of tip too
so if you feel like you can't outrun the flame try Assassin's Creed Mantle it make you run faster than normal so you never miss the run part ^ ^ have a great hunt
Agreed! But I prefer the superman dive.
Sadly this technique won't work as the mantle is no longer obtainable as of 2022
@@ChaosContrl but it still works tho
Another tip is that when you try to flinch shot him into a wall, you don’t have to spin him around to ensure the enrage because if he hits the wall it’s a guaranteed enrage
Learned this really quickly while trying to solo.
Big timesaver!
Remember guy’s, everything is weak to death.
Not Vaal hazak
Been waiting for this. I have watched plenty of tips from other RUclipsrs but I still like watching yours.
Kjarr Decay GS is better if you have it. In fact, IIRC Xeno jiva MR GS is better than Nerg GS.
I feel like my confidence is renewed having watched this. So good.
This is by far the best guide I found for MHW's fatalis hunt
Thanks for the tips
I’ve personally beat him but you have very good information and bet it will help many people
I think this is a good wrap up for fatalis to
Papa gainjin back at it again with today lesson~ fatalis! yay. Thank you for the useful information btw.
I beat him the day before you posted this video without any guide, I love monster hunter, and I’m so glad this fight was super hard, this was an amazing experience.
This looks to be super helpfull, I'll give this a try later today. Havn't got past the solo stage yet so I hope this will help!
My tip would be to work on your item loadouts, you can autocraft 5 max potions and 10 ancient potions without needing to go back to camp. Dust of life for multiplay too and you'll be golden. Add some smoke bombs and whetfish scale pluses, now that's a stew.
If you have some great sushi fish scales, now is a good time to bring them for the hunt.
the cannon and barrel opening helped me beat him finally thank you so much
I've always liked your videos but this is the best Fatalis guide I've watched on RUclips
Yeah with over 1000 defense and a head break or two the move isn’t a one shot
Yes, in phase 3 and beyond, the super fires that you are expected to run toward him to survive, they are survivable if you're at full health when they "power up". If you're not going to make it to the edge, you can consume a max potion after a handful of seconds, just before it hits, to survive.
@@Corrodias I survived it myself last night with full health and a rocksteady mantle
I beat my 6th fatalis today and tbh your guide helped me a ton on my first time, so thanks!
Thanks! Your tips on Alatreon helped me best the monster so this is amazing ❤️
Thanks for the tipps, with preperations and patience I was able to beat him
The observe point is just how old school games used to be - think Beat Em Ups: very hard until you know the answer to each "question" that an enemy throws at you! Excellent combat design
Good luck hunters, I've been dropping in random rooms to help, got two kills out of 10+ fights
tips:
-canon missed or didn't make fatalis fall? go to the balista and fire at the chest
-max potions are key to rescue your butt out off bad situations, most of the time
-don't be afraid of going back to camp with farcaster
-(superman jump? dive jump) jump away continuously from the normal cone fire attack if you're caught deep in the attack zone, this attack will usually trigger if someone is about medium distance from the front of fatalis
-load the third canon if you have the chance, not mandatory but it helps for part breaks when fatalis is around there
-see someone flinch shot a standing fatalis? get ready to clutch claw and add another flinch shot for a wall bang, you have like a 5 second window to clutch onto fatalis
-if you can, gem in fire resistance
-other skills that are nice to have on the quest is evade extender if you can fit it on, saved my butt countless time
Balista dmg gets to a topple, so has to be done anyway imho. I also do not get how I can join to that big amount of cannonballs misses or ppl using them with no heavy artillery. Just play it safe, the big topples and dmg from cannons are too good to miss on them D:
Yeah, Fatalis really does makes me want to finally augment my armor set, time to grind GL, have been skipping it for the longest time.

Recommended tip (as I’ve killed this thing 6 times already) :
Ready elemental res (L) with felyne moxie & roll for a felyne insurance
After 10 mins into the fight:
Eat for safeguard, you have total of 5 faints (special event) & 7 faints (special assignment)
@@ram3377 fire blight can kill you at the worst time though. And negate some of your life saving skills. 1hp +fire blight=death.
Casual tip for 2 players hunts:
Equip your palicos with paralysis weapons, it will at the very least proc the status once and its a very big opening to get 👌🏼 hope this helps
I've killed him like 10 times, my tips:
get fire resistance until you have 20 points, it prevents you from being on fire
if you are hunting with friends, one person should be using the cannons/ballista every time they respawn, you can knock him down like 3-4 times per hunt depending on how much you miss. With that me (HH w/ heavy artillery) and my friend (GS) broke his head the second time before his chest turned red
Fire resistance is for wimps, coalescence is how a real man deals with fire.
I’m gonna have to agree with Zimmy, fire blight isn’t much of an issue, and coalesecence will help up your dps to race the clock’s 30 minutes.
@@angelomendoza6666 I never failed because I was missing time, I failed because someone died. I was also eating for felyne moxie and fire plage will make it useless
Enrique P. R. There’s real frustration in watching your character at 1 hp lay on the ground burning until you stand up and die lmao
@@SubjectE57 under normal circumstances I'd agree because I use this skill. But in this hunt sounds like famous last words🤣🤣🤣.
for tip 12 i've found that when the attack starts avoid his neck/chest areas at 12:45 you see his head kick up, then he sweeps it to his side
when he starts the sweep as 12:47 his chest and neck are safe whilst he does the 360 so you can get some hits in on the chest for 4 seconds or so.
Those screams got me xD great video, these tips are very helpful.
Best Fatalis guide I've seen. Thumbs up
Thanks for compiling all this helpful info!
I'll definitely properly beat this big ass dragon one day
It's 1 AM I was not expecting that goat scream and got scared.
Even if i already killed fatalis a dozen already, I still learned a lot from this video. Thank you ♥️
One thing I noticed using GS is using the 2 dragon pods to flinch Fatalis out of whatever he's doing also gives you an opening for head snipes.
Thank you! 😊
-tip number #4
Sometimes fatalis does 4 fireballs (or more!) instead of three just to troll you, goddamn you king XD! instead of counting to three just wait until he's done with the animation.
-tip number #11
try to keep you and your teammates health full while running (wide-range/lifepowder) the second more powerful fire breath won't cart you if your health is full/almost full (i think it's a pure damage? cmiiw)
thanks for the tips GH!, that cone breath bait is really useful
I really suggest tenderizing the head and chest before you roaming balista and if you want to use it to break the head binder if you miss the head alittle it will just hit the chest nothing lost
You should bring 20 fire res so you dont burn but if you dont bring felyne groomer to get rid of fire faster
You can also block the cone breathe. No guard up needed
Thank you for this video! - New Hunter here
Thanks for the opener bomb trick! It's not a true game changer, but every little bit of damage helps!
Great set of general tips. I'd add the general bring max potion and combines for them, and have use max potion on radial, if you have the combines you can auto craft. Same for ancient potions if you can.
1 more kill needed to get all titles from him and ill be done I think.
Best Fatalis vid I've seen so far
I've found something bizarre in sos, ppl actually taking advantage of special assignment quest, join the quest and intentionally disconnect themselves so they can solo with 5 carts. Happened to me when trying to help sos assignment, making our hunts trio which is VERY difficult.
wow that is RUDE!
@@gaijinhunter yeah i know, its one hell of a fight, we failed sadly but managed to break head twice. So atleast he got one eyes which is nice.
You’re the best man. Very clear instructions.
(that and Heavy artillery on my build)
EDIT: ooh yeah always have Dragonpods on you. 2 shots stagers Fatalis and it will safe your life aspecially when you get squished against the floor from all his belly flops.
14:42 Actually screamed when he does that sweeping flame and then a monkey screamed with me as well, lmao XD
Good stuff
Just want to throw some of my strats into the ring:
1) For solo and duo farming don't get the cannon flinch.
You say 2 at one point in the video but the screen text says 3, might be a typo.
based on my experience on helping on SOS fatalis its always the long sword users who dies first then abandons mid hunt. always.
I dont know...I had a S.A. answer my SoS who kept killing himself trying to cheese the head. He just spammed the head bursts even when he was getting burned alive during the attack. He carted us out despite my wide-range/speed eating efforts to keep him alive. Gracious me...>.

Heavy Artillery goes to LV2, not LV3. Just a little detail in case someone was asking how to get LV3.
I was searching, lol thanks
When it is down on all fours and you flinch it with two dragon pods, it will do a recovery animation that you can use to do a level 2/3 GS charge with proper positioning (just remember where his was before the flinch).
Personal Tip: Evade Window 5 did absolute wonders for me, being able to i-frame breath and tail sweeps can open some great punishes, don't get greedy though.
It's tempting to try that.
Final tip: *Prepare to die.*
I know the Dark Souls comparisons with that line are inevitable but seriously, I haven't wiped against any monster as much as Fatalis, even back in my Tri days where I had _zero_ clue what I was doing.
My tip: you can block the cone breath attack, the damage is reduced by a lot
Just defeated sooo happy I wish everyone else luck to beat him
Thanks gaijin this is the only monster aside from at velkhana i have not yet beaten
