I was reading about these because I was wondering what all these london buses were using. I here these very slow, high torque old motors, that sound very weak and I discovered low and behold, they are large, naturally aspirated diesels that were weak. I can't figure out why they never figured out turbocharging. The first turbocharged 4 stroke diesel was in 1924, the first 2 stroke was 1952. Turbocharging was very normal on cummins diesel from the 50's on but in the 70's these people were still putting out these extremely old fashion non turbo diesels. Fascinating motors, really very old school british.
These old engines never fail to amaze me
The best of the low rpm marine engines.
Have a 3lw and 5lw, Fantastic engine's
