- Winnie Madikizela-Mandela had dared to take on one of the most powerful and evil regimes, said her daughter as she paid tribute to the Mother of the Nation at her funeral. One of the most important measures of her life was the way in which she touched the lives of other.
I have been watching this remarkable speech made by Her Excellency Madam Zenani Mandela-Dlamini countless times now. I cannot stop shedding tears,as l,just as many fellow Malawians, and many other Africans from the entire continent, not forgetting the Caribbean islands, been mourning the passing on of our beautiful Mother of Africa,Mama Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.
Madam Zenani's speech makes me ponder the question of the level of psychological damage the whole ordeal of stinking and rotten apartheid regime caused Mama Winnie Mandela, and her beautiful girls, not forgetting many other unsung heroes and heroines of the struggle to free South Africa.
South Africa is undoubtedly a beautiful country, but it needs healing. The country was rushed to reconciliation and the so called rainbow nation, but the wounds were and are still unhealed under the skin.
I personally think the government should help a lot of people in South Africa, including the Mandela daughters, with some psychological( post traumatic) assessments and counselling, in addition to other necessities.
Post traumatic stress disorder can affect anyone, even many years after experiencing some atrocities. We are only human, and these things can happen to anyone. I cannot even begin to imagine what the Mandela daughters went though, just as many other South Africans, in order to attain the freedom.
It pains me,and is very sad that Mama Winnie Mandela, our Mother of Africa, was taken for granted,as she was considered ever strong, without paying attention to her human side, and any possible psychological effects she may have been silently suffering with.
To make things worse, after suffering in the hands of the cruel Afrikaans men,Mama Winnie went on to experience betrayal and rejection by her own people post aparthied, especially by those power- hungry men.Shame on us African men.
Rest in everlasting peace Mama Nonzamo Madikizela- Mandela. Africa will forever be grateful for your selflessness and all the things you have done to and for your children.
I cannot believe that she is 60🙊,such perfection. Beautiful speech Zeni.

Winnie surely did touch the lives of many, such as Stompie Seipei, Siboniso Shabalala, Lolo Sono, Katiza Cebekhulu, Abu Baker Asvat and quite a few others.
She was also fond of handing out gifts, necklaces being her favourite present.

Her own words condemn her.
