    bought my '94 626 new and still have it (5-spd manual). it has been a GREAT car and it's still fun to drive. 185k miles with original clutch, tranny and motor.

    This is the first car I drove. It was my grandmother's car. Literally 15 minutes after I got my beginners she pulled over and said "I don't feel like driving anymore. You drive". I was scared shitless but surprisingly didn't hit anything haha. Hers was a 97 DX in purple

    The automatic transmission used in the 2.0L I-4 626's was the Ford CD4E which was notorious for issues and failures. Which is probably the cause of that rpm shutter. This transmission was also used in the 2nd gen Ford Probe/Mazda MX-6 and the Ford Contour/Mercury Mystiques (and maybe a few other models that I'm missing) and I think the most common cause for the problems was inaqeduate cooling due to a design flaw where the transmission would often run hot which over time would cause issues and ultimately failures. If you do have a car with the Ford CD4E the best thing you can do to prevent problems is to make sure you change the ATF every 20k-30k miles, and most importantly get a transmission cooler to help counteract the excessive heat. Those 2 things alone can help a lot.

      @divineoracle4809 3 месяца назад

      Ohh yes, I'm quite familiar 😂 some cars with this transmission include the first gen Escape/Tribute/Mariner triplets, 90s Mercury Cougar, Contour/Mystique twins, Probe, MX-6 and the 5th-6th gen 626's. With maintenance, you could get maybe 120k out of these transmissions.
      I had a 2002 Tribute, loved the car, the transmission sucked and was the demise of an otherwise decent vehicle. Rough shifts, bogged down often, failed even with proper maintenance. What could you expect from this era of the Ford/Mazda venture? Thank God Mazda escaped Ford before the Ecoboost problems came in 😂

    What I remember from these cars is that they had awesome factory speakers, 6x8's in the doors and in the rear shelf.

    I drive through major traffic all of the time in a manual. It's second nature and isn't an annoying at all. I absolutely hate automatics but then again I am personally not lazy enough to resort to an auto.

    I had a 1993 2.0 automatic 4-cylinder. I loved the ergonomics and the comfort. HOWEVER, I got rid of this car in a year. I HATED the 114hp engine combined with the automatic tranny! CONSTANT gear hunting.

  • @dragasoni
    @dragasoni 14 лет назад +1

    @celsovera91 I noticed that too. When Kyle drove it, the thing needed 4000 rpms to go. Dude, if you want a 4 cylinder with great power, get a Nissan Altima with the 2.4L. Mine lasted almost 300,000 with no problems,

    This ist a 1991cm³ n/a inline 4 zylinder. The motorcode is FS, when it has about 115hp. Nice to drive, very comfortable. i got the mazda 626 gf, the last 626 generation. it's a great reliable car. just rust makes it difficult to hold this longer than 20 years.

    This lamb used to have a 1995 626 V6 with the 5 manual. It was a blast to drive, but then it needed a couple repairs that exceeded the trade value, and I wanted a new truck so I let it go at 175k.

    • @djkenny1202
      @djkenny1202 8 лет назад +1

      +Upeedina Lamb Why does the trade in value make any difference? Wouldnt the repairs still cost less than having to pay for a new truck?

    • @upeedinalamb5297
      @upeedinalamb5297 8 лет назад

      I just sold my 87 Chevrolet Sprint Turbo I owned since 92. 187k, it had a long life ahead. But I have already owned a 1992 VW GTI 16v since 2000, and will likely never sell it. Easy to get parts, cheaper to repair than many newer cars as well.

Their was a little dent on the front driver side and the engine looked clean the seller was selling it for 2350. It also had black sole on the exhaust but the smoke was clean do you think that was a good buy?

    The 626 was a good little car as was the 929. The 323....not so much. Worse still, a smaller Mazda called the 121 was available in Europe and it was nothing but a piece of crap. Mazda's made some great cars over the years, but it seems they've also made some flops too

      +Joseph Althaus That is the Festiva, Right? The 121? I heard of lots of people going over 300k with those. VERY reliable and excellent gas mielage. The 323 was a reliable little car as well. Drove decent too.
