Hermano, great post. What was really helpfull was your advice about taking out "as much as the atm will allow you when you arrive, and put it in a safe place and take money out from there" Dude I had never thought about that. It makes sense because the fee will be the same no matter how much you take out yeh? you did make one mistake though. You said that the 1000 peso coin was worth $1. That confused me cuz I thought i was following along until then. No worries bro everything else was spot on! Thanks. I'm planning to go to Medellin next saturday
All your videos are ready usefull. Only two colombian banks Atms don't have fees for Overseas bank cards. BBVA and Davivenda. There is a useful app atm hero. Tells you the amount you can withdraw and the atm fee.
Brilliant video I'm coming from uk I have to change my money to dollar first ,my question my friend how and where will I get the most for my dollar , thankyou
Thanks bro! Right now the exchange rate is pretty high so I would definitely take advantage of that! If I were you I would exchange some dollars at the airport and then the rest at an exchange store in town. The airport takes a lot more money so I would just exchange as much needed for transportation to your hotel. Hope this helps buddy!
TravelWithChristian thankyou you explained really good by dividing by three that's brilliant just one more question can you change English money to columbian pesos in airport ? Thank you Christian
so how much shuld i tip like at bell boy . resturant what shuld i give there whut , i will give them like 3000 each in tip haha. 3:29 i am but i dont know 1 word at all LOL. sometimes i even wonder if i can call myself that , i wonder as well how it will be to take my ex wht me to colombia on vacation . anyway , help a lot if you can give me advice on the two things i asked , thx
So if I take 500 in US dollars and get 1.8 million pesos am I essentially rich in Columbia? I see houses listed for 500k pesos which is almost nothing in US dollars is it that simple? Or is there more to it.
Nice video, good information but you're a bit mistaken as we colombians DO know and have had in our hands a 100.000 note once or more that once. Most of the places you visit here in Colombia are credit card-friendly. Actually, there are very few and small places where you're not able to pay by credit or debit card (small grocery stores, road markets or shops in towns you visit out of the cities)
Yeah but I’m Colombian and I wouldn’t personally use my card in every place that accepts cards in Colombia. So I would really suggest having both available cuz you never know. Thanks for the comment : )
So if going bogota for one month. I just need to bring an estimated S1000 to S2000 in USD? i'm from Canada. I'm not sure does it make sense to exchange from CAD to USD to COP. When I travelled to Peru, I always bring USD and rarely used ATMs.
I would maybe exchange my CAD to COP and just incase exchange some CAD to USD and take with you in case of an emergency. Also make sure to keep in safe spot in your room and don’t carry more than you need.
regarding money, the hardest part for me is actually knowing what number the vendor is saying 🤣 aka learning Spanish. One time the amount was like 76,700 and I didn’t understand so I had to give my friend my money to pay for me LOL
Yeah I wouldn’t really use it unless it’s a trusted spot! I personally used it at a doctors office and everything went great! They converted the peso amount in dollars on my card.
Uncle Chrstian you're the BEST! Thanks for sharing thIs highly informative and much needed video! Please keep up the great work! ASE!

Great video my friend👍 Just a quick question would Medellin be safe for a solo English traveller?
what's the difference between mil and thousand?
Mil is thousand in Spanish
@@jesusismyking4345 Okay, thanks for clarifying.
Where at Medellin Airport can get the best rate dollar to Colombian Peso! Name the stores. Thanks.
How'd you set up the situation with WellsFargo & Bancolombia? I think I'd like to get my account before traveling. I have a Colombian Cedula.

Will they take USD? I just left Medellin but didn’t think to pay in USD.
What is the max amount to take from ATM?
I know that for BanColombia it’s 600 thousand pesos which is around 200 dollars.
Watching this video is wild it’s unbelievable how the 100,000 peso bill is 21$ dollars and it was 31$ 4 years ago. I feel rich in Colombia
