    Oh how I wish you could have been my Attorney. You would not believe my story. But finding an attorney that's trustworthy and competent is difficult these days. You make so much sense, you make the attorney's out here look really ignorant. Just being honest, my exp. with attorneys has been horrible!! Love your knowledge and how you explain you keep it so simple.

    Dividends versus Distributions!
    Section C or S?
    Pro-Rata or Amateur-Rata?
    Royalties or Passive Income?
    It's all here in less than a few minutes. Audits take so long to learn, and create such a demoralizing learning atmosphere.
    Spectacular substance.

    I started my first business 6 years ago and considering my first acquisition. I have recently realized that all of my write-offs will lead to an undervaluing of my current business potentially limiting the amount I can leverage in this upcoming acquisition. Do you think this is true Lee or will the lender be primarily interested in the acquired companies financials? I think it might be wise to pull back the expenses when implementing an exit strategy. New to the channel and love your work so far Lee. Thanks.

    Thank you for the information. Curious to know if someone who is in the entertainment business or an industry where the focus is on physical appearance can write off cosmetic procedures as a business expense?

    • @Legaleescorp
      @Legaleescorp  6 лет назад +1

      I suppose you could write it off. My guess isn’t going to hold any weight with the IRS. Is it “ordinary” and “necessary” for your profession? It may be for the entertainment industry. If it extends your ability to keep going longer, I would say it was necessary. It is ordinary for entertainment folks to get plastic surgery and stuff, so go ahead and deduct it. The most an auditor can do is disallow the deduction, and you pay the back tax. You only go to jail for a “substantial under reporting of income.” Report every dime and deduct every possible expense. My Advanced Tax Tactics will help you cut your tax bill substantially, and explain what the IRS wants to see. (legalees.com/advancedtaxtactics/)

      I buy all my dress clothes on the company dime. Slacks watches what have you and log then as either a sales expense or uniforms... not sure if that's okay but I'll find out if I ever get audited. Thoughts Lee?

      We have been doing them online during COVID (there is a Tax Summit this summer and a Virtual Boot Camp in the fall), but hope to resume Boot Camps in person soon. Usually they have been held in Salt Lake City, Utah or Orlando, Florida. See legalees.com/product/tax-summit/ and legalees.com/product/boot-camp/

    If you have a schedule c company I’d be way more careful going crazy with the expenses, they get audited far more often, like 60x more than S corps

    • @Legaleescorp
      @Legaleescorp  2 года назад

      You are correct a Schedule C can be audited a lot more often than a partnership or a Subchapter S entity (LLC or corporation).

    I thought you couldn’t write off much on a single member llc

    • @Legaleescorp
      @Legaleescorp  3 года назад +1

      A single member LLC can be taxed as a disregarded entity using a Schedule C or Schedule E attached to your 1040 or it can be taxed under Subchapter S or Chapter C of the IRS Code. The tax write offs are applicable to the code section that the tax is calculated using. In all cases you get a fair number of write offs compared to an individual with a W2 income only.

    can you do both a salary and a distribution?

    • @Legaleescorp
      @Legaleescorp  6 лет назад +1

      That depends upon how the company is taxed. Assuming a Subchapter S taxation applied to a corporation or LLC, the owner has to take a “reasonable salary” and the rest of the “profit” can be paid out as a distribution. If the company is taxed as a partnership or sole proprietorship, then all of the money must be paid or at least recognized as personal earned income (salary).
