I agree about the parts being printed. as for the origin of the cars used, i'm not sure what they are modeled after. lego provides very little information on sets.

I liked the roadster so much so i built an all black version of it, i had mostly all the parts but the chasey was tricky as i did not have the exact one that comes in the set. But im happy with it. Its a nice set may get it when i find a good price on it next year.

Fun fact: The covers over the rear wheels of that classic roadster are called _wheel spats,_ or simply just _spats._
