Thank you for doing this great review. I have not been able to tell is the app completely free and just not a trial? Can you advise either way? Thank you again.
One more quick question if you remember. Do you have to physically remove the SD card to save the alerts or can you download the alerts from the card through the app?
How to use the intercom feature... When I ring the door bell the alert on the phone will say some at your door. I can hear the alert from the inside if I'm in the house with my phone, but I tried to respond from the phone but can't hear audio on the camera side. What am I doing wrong, do you know?
from the Home Screen of the CloudEdge app press the play icon in the center of the thumbnail of the XTU doorbell. you should be brought to the live screen from the doorbell. you will see the live image on the top and icons for action below.
Hi there, do you think its working on WiFi thru personal hotspot of mobile data? I have no WiFi base at home, only mobile phone data. Thank u very much, I hope you reply.
If you have your phones personal wifi hotspot on and you select that for this camera then I would think it will work. Though it will use lots of your data plan.
XTU J7. The description says that the viewing angle is 166 °, and in the instructions itself, 145 ° are written for the device. What is that supposed to mean? Where is the truth?
Interesting that they publish two numbers. You can get an idea of how much you see in the review. We do not have a way of measuring the angle though. Wonder if they are talking about diagonal or horizontal and vertical angles?
not sure you need to split your frequencies. have you checked the strength of the WiFi outside with the door shut. I find using the phones signal strength as a good indicator.
@@Appmyhome yes, I've tried all the different settings. I don't think it's possible to turn it off or change it. Maybe I'll log it with the manufacturer as a future enhancement.
Hi Edgar, all depends on how many recordings or viewings you make. We did a lot of testing, so that ran the battery down and if I recall it was around 2 months, but don't quote me. With less use likely a bit longer.
Hi Donato. We have ours installed on an Orbi dual band mesh router with no issues. Of course issues like yours are likely affected by which router you have, and particular settings. What is the model router you have? Have you tried reinstalling the doorbell to see if that works? Any chance you contacted the doorbell support and can they help?
@@Appmyhome Hi, Thanks so much... that's exactly what I had to do...reset the doorbell and reconfigure the new WiFi... it's working perfectly now...thanks again !
best way we’ve found is to put your phone we’re the doorbell is and check how many Wi-Fi bars. more bars are better. if you only see one it may not be a strong enough signal.
have you verified notifications are enabled in the app, on the main screen for the XTU check the gear icon it should show five items, one of which is notifications.
Hi Edgar, to get to settings from the main screen on the XTU select the gear icon in the lower right of the J7, then at the popup select settings. I am using the clouded app.
@@Appmyhome let me clarify someone rang the J7 doorbell and the chime went off but also a siren and then a notification popped up saying the demolish alarm was activated. I'm guessing that's like an anti theft alarm but an alarm if someone tries to demolish it.
there is a button on the back of the j7 that gets depressed when installed into the mount. If that button comes out, like if loose or someone tries to take the phone, and you have the theft alarm setting on, it will make a loud siren sound. You can turn that off in the settings. You should make sure the J7 is fully seated and secured in the mounting base.

No Video available for Hardwired, Or how you change the battery Thank you so much

the app is free. you can record to an sd card locally. there is also a paid cloud service.

some camera apps require you to hold down the mic button while talking.
Does the doorbell light up if your viewing the camera?
Hi Eggar, you know I don't know. Usually they do.
@@Appmyhome Thank You I checked it and it does
Can you pair two chimes to the doorbell and can it work with two phones?
hi. unfortunately we don’t have a second chime to test with. currently this unit is powered down so unable to see how two phones work.
@@Appmyhome Thanks for taking the time to reply 👍
How do you adjust the volume on the doorbell chime.
there is a button on it but I think lt only changes the sounds it makes. there might be a volume setting in the app under settings - chime setting.
@@Appmyhome ok thnx
What is the difference between xtu j7 and xtu j7 plus? Is there a significant technical difference? And is it worth changing xtu j7 to xtu j7 plus?
specs look very similar. But the Plus seems to be a newer design. seems like just a $10 difference in price for the newer model.
One is 2k and the other is 1080p
Why does a siren go off when I ring the doorbell? And I get a demolish notification?
you mean on the external chime box. If I recall you can press a button on it to change the chime sound.
Can 2 phones in the same home view the doorbell camera if it rings?
we haven’t tried that.
Can you use the camera to see outside without some kind of motion activating the camera
Yes, you can view the camera live.

Does xtu j7 support "Smart Life" and "Tuya Smart" apps?
We only used the CloudEdge app. Looking at the SmartLife app they appear to have a generic doorbell camera install, however we have not tried it.

great review! the j7 doorbell don't need to install the anti-theft bracket, because it will auto alarm if it is removed
True however with the screw set someone can’t easily take it off.
Can 2 phones with the same app receive notifications?
Hi Edgar, we never tried that.
Why can't I see a picture of the person ringing the doorbell it just says you have a visitor with no picture
if you open the app can you see anything?

have you checked under sound settings or chime settings. unfortunately we presently have the xtu powered off.

Why doesn't the doorbell symbol stay lit. It's supposed to be lit up in blue
likely to save battery and only lights for motion or door press. though I could be wrong.
