I just love how the white stripes didn't overlook their older songs, "I fought piranhas" was the last song in their first full album. But many pop artists look over songs they made 10 or so years ago. So the white stripes will always be my favorite band. They just have so many things that make them unique.
This was their 10th Anniversary show so they were going through the catalog - its why he said it was going to be longer than a normal show. He's also said the first two albums were their best to represent the raw Detroit garage band sound they were founded on.
Ricky Bear Yup. When I saw him in 2014, he opened with Fell In Love With A Girl, then went right into Cannon and Astro. My soul wasn’t ready for that much RAWK right out of the gate.
So funny to watch the invisable language theese two had on stage. Jacks just jams a solo in here and there and meg is like ”ok, I’ll wait here for a while” all of it with not as much as a glance. Saw them live once and I thank my lucky star I was wise enough to attend that show...
The loud-ass open chord after he tricks us into thinking he's gone back to the quiet part at 3.35 is Jack in a nutshell for me. He wants to make damn sure you're listening. When Meg starts laying down that out of the blue beat at 4.33 is also completely different to older versions of this, they were always switching shit up on you.
Its so cool seeing him do the guitar change and not just have some sweaty guitar tech dance onto stage desperate to do be as brief in the hand off as possible.
This is hands down one of the BEST performances that I have seen or heard them do! Blackpool Lights has been a reg favorite, but this is crazy, exciting PLUS so many songs!! He just keeps belting out more and more songs! It's great! They are both amazing people even to this day, I believe.
@@theNEWguy102 yeah tbh, as capable as they may be with just the two of them, The White Stripes are the goat of two person stages; the Led Zeppelin of duo bands.
One of my favourite concerts was June 2007. I just got out of a relationship, was heartbroken, but danced the whole 2 hours away at their local show. I went with a different ex and his brother and sister. Memories.
Cunard Ctr, an old 'converted' refurbished warehouse on the waterfront, next to Pier 21. Loud and proud, great concert and Jack is back w/ Boarding House Reach. Looking forward to their last Canadian stop Nov 14th.
@@MrGrateful1000he gets a lot of shit in the guitar world. I’m a guitar player and he had a huge part to play in shaping the way I play and write. So many think he’s just a bad guitar player. I’m of the opinion that they just don’t understand. They want technique and flawless runs through scales. If you ask me, that shit is boring and there’s a million people that can play shit like that. Not a lot can bring the unique flavor that Jack does. He’s one of those guitar players you instantly recognize the second you hear it. He’s a legend in my books.
Last song is my favorite song on the first album. This version is 💪. JW plays guitar as effortlessly as ice cream truck guy rings bell. JW's playing is way more rewarding than a vanila cone or anything else sold by guy driving truck. Even the between song small talk is intimate rather than annoying. And MEG is 💪 on the beat. The lyrics are biblical.
In his documentary, it might get loud, he talks about the first guitar in this video. He said he was walking around and found a hole in the wall music store and bought it for about a hundred dollars. It made out of plastic. Jack wants to prove you can make good music with anything. I agree. Give me a shoe box and a rubebr band and lets make real music.
This has to be my favorite live performance of any song ever. So much energy. Gives me chills every time.
check out Slowly Turning into You from this same show - every inch of it is brilliant.
Abso 100% lutely
Seven years later. Still get chills every time.
The things this band did, no one ever dared doing.
Blackpool Lights as a whole has to be Top 3 greatest documented concerts on film ever.
the others would be The Song Remains The Same and what?
BOTH OF YOU ARE SO CORRECT!))
Carson Lavallee the last waltz
+realtick lets expand it to 4 and say band of gypsies too. But all three of you are dead right :)
Although this (Nova Scotian Lights) has gotta be up there too...

Very much agree'd, regardless of 10th anniversary, Jack White still plays old songs from the White Stripes albums in his solo performances lol

jesus... they were just like right in the zone for this whole concert.
Sad part... three weeks later Meg walked away for good and the band never played another set.

5:23 that riff is such a tease.
Badass song to the extreme no more than that needed to be said

I am Irish American all I want for St Patrick's Day is this damn band back together 🇮🇪!!!

@Oscar August You are welcome :)

Roberts final wail at the end always gives me goosebumps
Geeze Jack, why do you have to be so amazing? My heart can't take it!! 😍
I like how he was "actually I'll use the other guitar"
When I first heard The White Stripes I thought they were a full 4 person band. Hearing this, I'm still not convinced.
Royal blood pulls off a similar effect with just 2 people
Nathan Anderson how dare you compare them to the white stripes 😂
@@theNEWguy102 yeah tbh, as capable as they may be with just the two of them, The White Stripes are the goat of two person stages; the Led Zeppelin of duo bands.
Two choices... seeing The Beatles at the Cavern Club in 1962 or front row for this show.
My answer: Nova Scotia is nice this time of year.
Very hard, I love both bands
I would probably choose depending what i feel
If you listen to this through your little phone speaker, you are missing out. This is awesome with a good over the ear headset.

One of my favourite concerts was June 2007. I just got out of a relationship, was heartbroken, but danced the whole 2 hours away at their local show. I went with a different ex and his brother and sister. Memories.
This performance is 100% raw blues!

I can't believe I'm saying this but Jack is up there with Jimi Hendrix on that distortion he is amazing 🤘
Oh my Jack
Can't get enough.
They're awesome I have all their albums:D:D:D:D:D
If there are any questions for 3:43, yes he did play it, he used a mix of hammer on's and pull offs.
I don't think anyone questions jack whites guitar skills
@MrStormshadow999 Naw man haha. Been around forever.

Unbelievable!
Man! They're takin̈g beyond the borders of Led Zeppelin! And just the two of them. Great!
That tone 😮😮😮
everytime I listen to this il repeat 3:42 to 3:59 a million times
I cried,,,

White stripes were the best blues players of the 00s
Sound like Black Sabbath live in one of their mid-show thrown together and unreleased songs and it sounds amazing
Tocan bien estos roñosos !!!
Hello, is there anybody out there who can tab the tiny part between 4:46-4:50
Happy Easter morning everyone!
Amazing (sob)
I fought piranha's here in detroit. I shredded guitar and it was all all right
Is anyone else seeing this magic right hand at the beginning of the song? Where the fuck does that pick come from and where does it go??
Jack my frend did you fought piranhas and f**** devils😊😅
chirrrrp...schon gecatcht. huhm...
Go meg go
1:58
I mean, if at 4.34 you haven’t wanted to play a guitar like that then really, you can’t be helped
this is awesome without it hands down give it up
Song starts at 1:58
(Music starts at 1:58)
what kind of guitar does he use for this song?
it's a 1970s Crestwood Astral II
Tuned in Open E

Carson Lavallee I thought he digged on Gretsch hollow-bodies.
martyboyyy that was after the White Stripes
Absurd
