- We’re welcoming our new, ok, it’s not so new, Guest Trike. I bought this 12 year old HP Velotechnik Scorpion FX bare bones trike last summer. I added a few new upgrades and our niece Jenny and her husband Brian are our test riders out at Turtle Bay Resort.
Mahalo nui loa for riding along with us as we trike all throughout the Hawaiian islands.

Gear Note: I maintain a simple gear footprint. Accompanied by iphone, gopro max and Skydio drone, I do all my own filming including drone footage. Audio is captured on my phone and then married to the video footage in iMovie where I do all my own editing.

I like the surfing tunes but you need a few triking ditties.
So true. That’s the only thing I haven’t fully recovered from after the surgeries, guitar playing. I’m working on it but man, it’s hard to get those finger muscles back in shape..
Guest trike sounds like an outstanding idea! If you opt for a hub drive, let me know and I will assist as needed. LiGO batteries ship about anywhere and are very dependable from my experience.
Thanks for your thoughts and offer. I do think I’m going with the tongsheng mid drive and the LIGo are suppose to work but they’re out of stocked right now. Concerns are being able to manage battery levels while riding as I don’t believe the drive display talks to the battery. I. Such a newbie in this area
@@hawaiiantrike-surfkayak I have found one battery is easily good for 12-15 miles with my setup. Guess if you get a few or have someone coming to the island fly a few in then simply go test one with normal riding. Thinking a mid drive or hub motor should be close.
@@PedalPushinAK yeah, I was thinking 3, maybe 4 of them. Optimum would be 40 miles, the same I get in my shimano steps. I have one friend who would want to ride all the way out to Haleiwa and back with me.
@@PedalPushinAK When did you get your LiGos? I’m trying to figure out how long they’ll be out of stock. Also, they have 5 pc bundle that goes for 350, but if I order individual units it’s at 125 ea if I buy 4. Another page says 190 ea. A bit confusing. ebikes.ca/shop/electric-bicycle-parts/batteries/ligo-bundle-order.html. Do you know what the dangerous good shipping fee was. Thanks.
@@hawaiiantrike-surfkayak no dangerous fee as I bought a kit from them. I know I paid about $125 each. I’ve had mine since last summer. 2nd set we’re out of stock as well but I just checked daily and hit send as soon as I saw them. Guessing spring/summer rush might be part of the problem.
