Fantastic! Speaking as a MS Connections teacher, I can't tell you how many SpEd students come into my classroom throughout the year for a 9 week rotation. And while many of these kids do have a desire to learn, I just can't help them. With the demands of teaching my curriculum and managing student behavior that has become unmanageable since returning from virtual learning, all I can do for these kids is provide the accommodations put forth in their IEPs (i.e. extended time, reiterating directions, preferential seating, etc.) - it's ridiculous! Instead of dropping them into a connections class, they need academic support in mathematics and reading, along with providing focused help with their specific learning challenges and developing their organizational skills.
Unfortunately, not all parents can afford $100/hr. rates, but wishing you continued success in the coming year!

Thanks for sharing your experience! You are absolutely right that many parents cannot afford private tutoring which is why the school systems need to step up and start allocating resources to address the learning needs of these kiddos and supporting teachers like you who are doing their best, but need help. I appreciate you sharing your experience, Ron!

THIS WAS GREAT!! You gave me the push I needed to truly get started with something I decided I wanted to do so long ago. Fear and doubt are real. I need to have more faith and confidence in my abilities. THANK YOU!!!!

Hi Sean thank you for sharing your journey.
I am at the beginning of my journey to become a coach on FASD and Neurobehavioral conditions, I empower families to advocate for their loved ones with these challenges.
I coach parents to see through a different lens on parenting as normal parenting doesn’t work for our kids.

I can only speak from my experience, but no, that was not the driving reason for me. However, know the culture of having lockdowns in schools and the idea that teachers should be armed in some places makes the career less attractive to me.
