I feel like pink is more the color. I mean DeSantis got his landslide the second time around but the first he barely slipped in and that to me showed if we have the right person running against a DeSantis type next go around then we stand a better chance of winning.
Can't gerrymander statewide races. Last time Dems won the state was 2012.
They are always changing the subject or goal because they don't really know what the subject/goal should be, except to keep themselves in power, in my opinion.
The fact Rep. Frost was elected gives credence to that. As does Jasmine Crockett of Texas. Both intelligent, well spoken individuals, the future belongs to them. 💙🗳️

Maxwell Frost is a bright light in Florida. Seven decade native Floridian here and he’s spot on while being diplomatic. He’s been organizing since he was 15, starting with the Obama campaign and worked with Newtown Action Alliance after Sandy Hook. He was the national organizing director for March for our Lives. Fascinating man with his eye on the future. Jen Psaki does a great interview with him at a vinyl records shop. He and his adoptive dad are musicians. Just an incredibly hopeful and inspiring person.
He is definitely being diplomatic, and it cost him big-time here. He should've just said that when 60% of Floridians support something and 60% of the legislature undoes it, the only possible way that can be happening IS GERRYMANDERING, and that that whole legislature is illegitimate because of it.
I have so much respect for this young man. He gives me hope for our future and our present. Thank you, representative Frost.

The Floridaman meme was actually born from a good feature of Florida: transparency. There the press has access to police reports and, since they find some of them fascinating, they make them public to draw audience. That's not possible in most other states and as a results people keep hearing about Floridamen but not about crazies from other states.
Yup. I remember reading about how a mundane "Woman arrested for assaulting sister" in another state becomes "Manatee [County] woman arrested for [some insanity over assaulting her sister with a sandwich over sex toys or something, I can't remember]".
His underorganized line is on point. I used to live in FL and i remember having to hold my nose and vote for Andrew Gillum because he was the nominee for gov in 2018. There are clearly better quality candidates in the state, but they're not being found and cultivated because the DNCC has abandoned the state.

Giving me hope about being in Florida. Working for the mouse in Florida is weird in the political sense since I see so many liberal progressive values all around me even though I work and live in FL.
Great to bring Maxwell Frost in. I knew him allready and was already impressed But there are more like him for example Garcia and a young firebrand woman whose name I keep forgetting. Please bring them also in.
But next to these people congress needs also people like Goldman, Porter, Raskin. Goldman is older than Frost but has very valuable real life experience as prosecutor. And then there is Raskin, older than Goldman but he is obviously very valuable with his knowledge and personality. But next to that he also coaches the less experienced members in his committee. He also combines youthfull dedication with his experience.
His distinction between policy and politics was a really interesting point. You can do it Florida!

The Florida Democratic Party wasnt even on life support in 2022, it was dead. Thankfully, they now have a new, energetic chair woman, who is getting it revived and organized, hopefully in time for 2024, but its a long haul!

For all the weirdness, "Florida Person" jokes and wingnut weirdness one hears about, Florida is, population-wise, a fairly Progressive Purple State and it would still be a big swing state if it wasn't for all that gerrymandering, voter suppression schemes and Democratic disorganization.
However, since much of the population isn't wingnutty and is very diverse, there's still hope. With some good strategizing those hurdles can be jumped (heck, Democrats could probably still win offices from bottom up in local elections... and build their way up).

Rep Maxwell Frost. Damn! Sounds exactly like an actual congress person, not like a disrupter or a free ridder. He's interested in making things better. Also sounds far better than at least I/2 of the rest of the members. I'm nearly 3 times his age and he's exactly the kind of representative we ALL need.

Amazing guy, really gives me hope for the future. I loved how he interrogated the Twitter employee about a comment Mangolini tried to have removed. Chrissy Teigen called him "P.A.B." and the employee said you want me to read that out loud? And he said "OK, free speech!" Very smart and very funny, because now there will be this profane but funny word in the history of congress and he will be remembered forever.
