Why Is the U.S. Sending Billions in Taxpayer Money to Egypt? | HasanAbi reacts

  • The Biden administration is sending Egypt its full $1.3 billion in military aid, despite congressional conditions over human rights concerns. Secretary of State Antony Blinken waived restrictions on $225 million of that aid, citing Egypt's crucial role as a mediator in the Israel-Hamas conflict and in promoting regional stability. Rights groups have criticized Egypt's record on arbitrary detentions, torture, and repression, while U.S. lawmakers argue that Egypt has not made sufficient progress on human rights. The State Department acknowledges Egypt’s limited reforms, but insists more action is needed.

    Im egyptian and this represents minor importance to our military now, which bothers the US.

    • @bebomahgoub
      @bebomahgoub 6 дней назад

      U can't really say that it represents minor importance to the army because u still have a good and vital portion of ur army that needs spare parts and maintenance and upgrading in many ways.plus there is a good business for the generals since this aid thing keeps some factories in the states running and jobs in the market and without the aid many jobs will be lost.so it's a win win and everyone will be happy and corruption is big on both sides and the whole thing is just disgusting

    where did you get that from lol how did Egypt get more aid than Israel it literally never happened the whole idea is to give Israel the technological supremecy over Egypt after the 1973 war. Israel takes about 4 billion a year while Egypt gets 1.3 Billion.

    • @AeaaaW
      @AeaaaW 12 дней назад +1

      the agreement post 1973 was that egypt would get just as much military aid as israel. Israel gets more non military and unconditional aid plus other benefits. i agree with you though i think israel always got the most total aid and im unsure if they stuck with the agreement on the military aid anyway

    Murphy used to boast about how the 2014 coup in Ukraine would’ve been impossible without u.s. He wasn’t yet seasoned enough to know not to say that out loud as he proudly shadowed John McCain meeting with neonazi militant leaders in Kiev. And when confronted by a random cspan caller on the danger and potential disaster of this move, Chris acknowledged the looming fall out and then quickly dismissed it.

      The previous regimes left breathing room that would allow for such a thing. They would allow some criticisms and debates to be shown on newspapers and tv. The current regime is way more repressive and brutal than the old ones, if you even make a post online that hints that you have anger towards the government you will find the secret police knocking on your door and they will take you under administrative detention where you will rot in a cell for years and probably tortured too. Their current media is completely controlled and wouldn’t even dare to even slightly criticise Sisi

      @@ayaabdelaziz4141that happened much later. The Arab Spring did in fact destroy the Egyptian Economy, why ? Literally all millionaires exported all their wealth outside Egypt and all foreign investors exited the country.
