I must say I thought the trip out to Donington was ok, A good place to go if you after a used bike. And maybe we may be ready for a weekend camping trip soon!!! That’s if its not to wet!! Ha . And maybe a little review of the new Arai - Tour X5 Helmet. All the best Dave.
Dave....Ive just bought the Arai Tour X5 to replace my X3, bought from Motocard in Spain, £60 cheaper than UK ! New larger visor is great for vision, peak however is set higher than the X3 so not as good deflecting the sun. Trip to Yorkshire it performed well, really comfortable, despite Pinlock, in heavy rain, inside still steamed up at low speeds ! Ride safe guys👍
@@richardthomson203 I settled on the Bumot Defender EVO, well made, decent price and if I ever change bikes the panniers can come with me as they make frames for many other bikes. Check some of my more recent videos and you'll see them on the bike.
For any one that wasn't aware the buildings that are now filled with motorcycle used to be the Donnington car collection which house formula 1 cars & was family owned , the building also had a good shop selling everything motor sport related.
If it helps Andy, over the last 4 years I've had 4 sets of panniers, BMW Vario, Touratech Zega, Bumot and SW Motech Trax Adv. The best made by far were the Bumots but they were the heaviest. I've dropped the bike stood still on the Touratech and the Bumots and accidentally dented the Sw Motech (well DPD did). The Touratech showed a big gouge, Sw Motech flexed easily, Bumots didn't even show a mark. Wish I still had them. Regards Jay
It might be just me but have the price of Bumot panniers significantly increased as they become almost as well known as Touratech panniers? Might be my age. Good to see the dynamic duo back on the road.
@@jeanjacques9980 I can’t comment cause they all were similar price. I bought the touratech and Bumot from The Adventure Bike Shop. The cost of them all you would think they come with inner bags, we end up using 30p bags for life inside.
@@JaySalvoUK Thank you for speedy reply, I thought when Bumot introduced to market they were priced well below competitors, now they all seem to be a muchness. It is amazing £2K+ for panniers and TB, then it’s more for the liner bags. It goes on internal nets on lids and covers on outside tops of panniers and TB plus the a tool box on the inside of frame. An addiction to heroin might be cheaper.
@@jeanjacques9980 I think I paid £1500 ish from where I mentioned and that included the additional top plate that every different Top Box appears to need.
@@JaySalvoUK Still rather a lot of money, plus inner bags and other accessories for panniers and TB. Probably cheaper than Touratech, Bumot better quality and locking system. Read that one chap spent 13K€ on extras for GSA.
Did have them a few years ago on a Triumph. Were pretty good, at the same price points as Bumot and Touratech now though so my choice is a bit wider as they used to be £200 cheaper.
Still torn, the Zega's have a totally removable lid and can be moved from bike to bike more easily as they are straightforward boxes rather than formed around the exhaust - the spreadsheet of benefits vs drawbacks is growing!
@@andybcole Exactly. I guess everyone has different requirements and choose what works for them. I don't have a top box, so I'm probably opening my panniers more while I'm on the road than some / most?
@@andybcole hahaha. I’m not allowed Mars bars😶, but we use the top box for all that stuff”. But yes, side opening isn’t great if you’re opening them throughout the day. Each to their own!

@@andrewtofts7884 Great to know, I'm teetering between them and the Zega Pro, the only thing stopping me currently is wanting to take the panniers with me to the next bike, just changing the frames hopefully so the cutaway pannier concerns me a little, the Zega Pro's being straightforward boxes.
Andy and Dave doesn’t have the right ring to it so your viewers / followers need to come up with something catchy. In my day, it was Bill and Ben, the flower pot men !! Any suggestions ??

Demonstrated to me just how well a GS holds its value :-)

Thanks Andy, as I'm thinking of upgrading to 1250 adventure and don't want Vario panniers, can I ask which ones did you buy ?

Super banter and chat ! “Good Eggs” 👍🏻
Dave's a true modern biker, keeping the motorcycle industry solvent! 😁
I'm no better to be honest - I just happen to be the one doing the filming!

Great banter
Glad you enjoyed it
I have the Bumot topbox and panniers and I'm very satisfied with them. Great quality.
Good to know! They seem to have a lot of fans whilst Zega Pro fans seem fairly quiet
Andy, I bought Bumot u honestly won't go wrong. Keep the vids coming 🐾
Useful feedback thanks

SW Motech traxadv is the one. The seals on them are 4 times bigger than the laughable bmw ones. Good bit of kit

I'm just trying to think who would think side opening panniers would be a good idea? 🤔
I can help you there. Couples who tour, and just remove the panniers and open them like a small suitcase in their unit. Perfect👌.
Grab the Mars Bars out of the pannier would you.....cue all the luggage on the floor at the side of the road - that's been my frustration!

I take advice but rely heavily on my own research, Dave just buys the most expensive one 😂
Can definitely recommend Bumot luggage, particularly as no additional racking is required for the panniers.
How are the hinges over time, do they loosen up or stay as they are when delivered, fairly well balanced so they stay open at any position?
@@andybcole I’ve had mine for 6 years and the hinges are working absolutely fine, and will stay in the different opening positions.

Try shad aluminum or black anodized, really and a lot less money 👍
Side opening not top opening, the worst design idea ever 😂
Nice to see you two back, noticed you're both wearing Klim gear, how would you rate them?
Very expensive but excellent is the simple review!
Dave needs a GS1300
He says not but then he's said that about his last five bikes.....
