Nobody ever mentions Tony Butler on this set of videos. He was the bass player for Big Country, Simon Townshend's early band, and a bunch of Pete's albums. He composed the classic bass line for the Pretenders' "My City Was Gone". He is one of the best and most tasteful bassists ever.

I turned 10 in 1980. My college aged brother and Mom got me my first high end stereo for my birthday. This album was on the turntable when they led me into my room. "Happy birthday" indeed.

I wrote to him back in the early 80s.....I didnt have his address but I knew he had a recording studio in a little town called Twickenham England. I figured small town and hes well known so I just addressed it "Pete Townshend Twickenham England". A year went by......I forgot all about writing to him and I get a letter from him.....he apologized for taking so long to write back to me and sent an autographed picture. I still have it in his "Scoops" solo album.
