Six scientists. One BIG question.
For more than two centuries we’ve been anxious about the relationship between ourselves and the machines we build.
The industrial revolution changed our landscapes and destroyed settled ways of life.
The 20th century brought the computer and automation. This was supposed to free us from labour. It hasn’t, though it has done away with countless jobs.
Now we can build machines that are capable of making decisions and the pursuit of artificial intelligence is beginning to look like a new arms race.
Many movies have imagined the triumph of machines and loom large in the public imagination as great science fiction. But are they potential science fact?
That’s our Big Question...Will machines rule the world?
