I think a good backstory for why Tut's soul is trapped in the mortal world and why his heart hadn't been weighed when he died was because of the sins of his father Akhenaten, also known as the "Heretic Pharaoh". He was the real life father of Tutankhamen who attempted to upend thousands of years of Egyptian mythology by abandoning the worship of the Egyptian pantheon for worship of the sun disk also known as Aten. Bottom line, it didn't go well and Tutankhamen was left holding the bag after his father died and he had to fix all the political and social problems his father created with his attempt at religious reformation. I would have loved it if the movie was about Tut's father challenging the gods of Egypt, leading to his demise and Tut having to pick up the pieces while also explaining his predicament in becoming an undead mummy and not given a place in the afterlife for what his father did, or something like that.

Thanks for reminding me. I had vague memories about it (mainly from the episode where the hero, under the influence of a spell he chewed, grows faster) that I can now recall.

Most of your videos are really really good, but this was so niche and even a pain to find as a child, I really appreciate this video.

I remember asking Google about a "cartoon ancient egypt with mummy kid that dies in the opening" to find it.
Sometimes I feel like I've dreamed this show. Nobody in my country seems to have memories or simply heard about it yet I know I saw it on TV as a child! Tutenstein was amazing and got me strongly into Tutankhamun's life and egyptian mythology. Thank you for talking about this gem!

Thank you for covering this show! I have only the barest of memories regarding this, mainly that I enjoyed it. The most concrete memories though are 1. the episode shown at 3:31 and 2. that I surprised one of my teachers by recognizing a sphinx at the age of 7, all thanks to this cartoon.

I love vids like these! Before this vid, I watched the "WAIT remember Edgar and Ellen" vid and it immediately made me subscribe hoping to find more forgotten gems from my childhood. Though Tutenstein wasn't forgotten by me others shows definitely were. Thank you for unlocking parts of my memory this way.
My gratitude is genuine but here I want to talk a bit about my pet peeve with cartoons.
I love remembering shows from my childhood through vids like these. The thing that always irks me a bit is that the samples shown that have sound are never truly part of my childhood. (And I know that is a me problem) Kid shows are almost always dubbed in my country so the voices of the original cast are never the voices of the cast that are part of my childhood. For some reason, kids in cartoons from the USA are also really high-pitched.
So the pitch and the lack of nostalgia makes it for me no fun to rewatch as an adult, it also isn't always easy to find the complete series in Dutch either. (For the record, I did manage to rewatch part of Tutenstein in Dutch because all the seasons were on youtube. But this was before youtube got a lot stricter with everything. I haven't tried searching again but I don't have high hopes)

Funny now that you mentioned it. Just like you I was also in love with this show and with history and a mythology about Egypt. It left mark on me like when me and parents watched the Mummy, I was explaining what I know from show, they were so baffled by my knowledge of Egypt mythology. As result I got book called Egyptology as my christmas presents and I still have it ever since. It definitely made my day😁
