  • The only way to get better on the bike is to ride and ride some more. I recently took some time to ride the most gnarly sections of trail in Rockville and try to improve my skills.

    Great video Brian! I never really session sections because I hate stopping the flow and hike a bike back up, I love finding trails that we can shuttle and session over and over get all the DH without the climbs.
    One of my favorite quotes; "I fear not the man who practiced 10,000 kicks once, I fear the man who practiced one kick 10,000 times" -Bruce Lee

      I'm sure most of us are in the same boat, but the trails closest to me are the trails I ride 80% of the time. If I don't clean something, I always think "I'll get it next time". And while that works out sometimes, other times it doesn't and those features become your nemeses. The ones you never get or are too afraid to try. Gotta just suck it up and session those until you get them!

    • @mtbboy1993
      @mtbboy1993 6 лет назад

      nice thing where I live is I can ride the trails over and over again, so where I live accessioning whole trail at once is easier than some other places like on a mountain, but I don't mind going up and trying again, I have done it a lot on technical climbs and descents, but I do it less on decent these days, I got pretty good at reading the lines, and ride differently if I need to,
      mostly on tricky climbs, but I know my bike is holding me back, need longer wheelbase, I have to be very precise and shift my body perfectly which can be tricky.

    I like this kind of video. It covers a lot of the parts of mountain biking that you need to constantly think about when you are out doing this yourself. the other thing I like about this kind of format is that we get to see you riding. It is helpful to see how you attack obstacles and your position on the bike.

    Excelente Bryan. You are an awesome ambassador of the sport but mostly for me your a great inspiration on not just dreaming but pursuing your dream and work your way thru enjoying every step. Not every rider is a jumper, and not all at the same level of risk willingness but the epicness of your adventures and your unique style of sharing it is what makes it special. Keep doing it and enjoying what you love, the rest are just personal opinions and one can never please everybody.

      Different experience. I ride both quite well. I can ride the nasties w clips and feel more connected to the bike. Espeically on steep techy ascents, its a different pedal stroke. flats are easier to bail out of when the going gets tough.

    Sessioning is rad. Really makes you figure out how to connect different parts of the trail together. One thing that helps a lot as you get faster is jumping obstacles. Once you land, jump the next thing because the energy is going to off the suspension, so you might as well use it.

    I really enjoyed this vid Brian, I won’t be disappointed if you do more in this style. I wish I had more rocks where I live so I could practice more, but you are looking super slick bruv. 👍🏻👍🏻

    Rockville truly is an amazing riding spot. I am lucky enough to live close and am able to ride here on a regular basis. So many technical skills to be learned at Rockville that really come in handy while riding other destinations. Usually when I ride here I look at my Strava when I’m finished and think, that’s all I rode for distance and elevation? This place is grueling on the ups and downs! And nice riding, it’s always cool to see the progression when you session something.

    • @bkxc
      @bkxc  6 лет назад

      Hahaha YES, it's always a lot less mileage in that place!

    I swear I've seen you blitz stuff like this at about 80mph. Seriously, I really liked it. I can relate and maybe see myself doing stuff like this.

      Haha, nope this stuff is way steeper and harder than most of the stuff in my videos!

    Love how you are always trying new things, i.e. Call-in livestream, session videos, etc. instead of just resting on your laurels and doing what has always worked for you. Why you have my sole support on Patreon Brian. Enjoyed this format btw. Rockville looks completely different all lush and green (especially the latest Patreon vid with your brother's new Canyon); reminds me of your Spain videos in a way.
