Azul is my favourite abstract game. Another game I didnt think much of when i first looked at it, but heck this is a good game. Curious to play the sequel as well.

Azul has been on my wishlist in what seems like forever but I keep buying other games ahead of it as I dont know how I really feel about it. Need to play. But I have Santorini to tide me over til then ;)
Might be worth trying out at a club/cafe to see if it works for you.

Brilliant! Excellent explanation and covers everything! BTW there are a lot of knock-off versions of this game out there which are really poor quality in terms of build and playing pieces. Spend the money and get a genuine copy. I made that mistake...
Didn’t know there was player interaction here. Been holding off cause I thought there was no player interaction. Might just have to pick it up
A friend of my partners just shared a story of how he was manipulated into having to take 9 tiles he didn't want one turn. (negative points cap at -14), but that's still a good example of a group targeting a leader in the game
It's one of those games where you have to look at your opponent's board, even more than your own.

@@3MBG might be a long shot, but is Champions of hara on your radar?
I can honestly say that i had never heard of the game until you mentioned it. Art wise, it looks pretty unique. Game wise, looking at the KS campaign, it looks a little bit like Vindication, which some of my friends were playing over the weekend.
But yeah, very far off my radar.

I had no idea you couldn’t put the same colored tiles in the holding area as other rows already holding those colors. Played 50+ games of this and feel so silly

Misundestood. yep, only applies to tiles on the tiling area to the right. We done goofed. Good thing I'm not a rules channel. I do try to get things right, but invariably we stuff up. My bad.
No, jbuathier you haven't been playing wrong. He explained the rules wrong. On the top right of rulebook page 4, you can see that we can place the same color on different pattern lines. He must have mistaken pattern lines (left side) with wall (right side). Top left of Page 4 explain that once you complete the color on a horizontal, you cannot put the same color on the pattern lines whose corresponding line to the wall is holding that color. This is kind of a major misreading of rules since the situation at 2:00min in the video will not occur.

Have not played yet. I've played "roll player" which is apparently quite similar asides from the theme. Its definitely on the list of games to play

You are quite correct, lol. It's 7 in the actual play example at the front of the video with the player boards.
Still, that's just to show the mechanic of drafting. Not a big deal.
