after 10 or more years working with steadicam i got weebill s, it was horrible for pans and orbital shots, until i researched settings for pan, tilt, deaband, motor strenght, smooth settings for pan tilt and all that. After setting everything up it's so smooth i might get another, it's all in the settings.
I had the weebill and sent it back and got the Ronin SC. The SC is way smoother hands down no comparison. Forget about the gimmicks the first job of a gimbal is to be smooth.
I am in a same situation. Bought the weebill lab for $230 on sale. I tried to love it because it was a great price and it is not smooth at all. I would rather pay $70 extra and get Ronin SC if that is better. This one going back.

Maan i love your review but you are definitely misleading people. Weebill S performance is way better than what is shown in this video. It looks like you did not set up weebill correctly and your shots are really rough. Did you know you could change the settings on the weebill and make it smoother? Your review is just misleading people period...
Full Stack Creative im with you on that and yes they are both great gimbals and both got theirs pro’s and con’s not bashing your video at all after all it is a great video i just felt misled in a way because i know how good and smooth weebill performance is once motors within menu are adjusted. The Weebil-S also has auto-tune...and a ton of custom motor movement adjustments, and calibration adjustments. I find this gimbal much better than your comparison shots. This is the fastest and easiest gimbal I've ever setup and used. And I'm very happy with its smoothness and ease of getting excellent shots quickly. I bought it as an open-box special for only $260 so I don't believe there is any gimbal that can compete at that value. But the size and fast setup makes it still the choice for me (even at the new price of $399)...especially at events like weddings when I might want to change lenses and be balanced within a few seconds.
portability is so important to me-I've really wanted to go with the Weebill S over any larger gimbals due to my traveling. I found your review to be outstanding even though it resulted in a negative for the Weebill S.
Based on your test I bought Ronin-sc and returned it after two weeks, Ronin-sc takes too loge to set up, it's frustrating to get the camera balanced. I can't use long lenses, and the focus doesn't work for every camera. there the battery takes forever to charge. and the app is not really user friendly, I try to use the app to rotate the camera is not accurate. basically, it's not as it is advertised.
Hmm, maybe I'll wait for either product to address their shortcomings. Wait for DJI to improve the hardware design with more powerful motor and accommodate heavier set-up like what Zhiyun did, or for Zhiyun to make their app up to par with DJI.
Could be waiting forever. No such thing as perfect as there is always room for improvement. Get it when you need it and it can do the job you want it to do.

I know your worried about focus but for vloggers and auto focus quick shots im still liking this weebill with the quick focus of a m50. I definitely want to get a extension for the handle. I got the Ronin SC. Both Weebills are also quite good as well, but for me it the overall quality was less than the Ronin. But it also comes down to own preference.
The ronin sc doesn't work with the GH5 I found. As soon as you pop a filter on, it won't balance. I use a variable ND filter often filming outside. The ronin sc has lots of good features but have to say it did not work well at all with my gh5 and gh5s with lots of standard lenses. I'd go as far as saying it doesn't work at all with GH5. Worked with small prime lenses. I bought the weebill-s and sold the sc. The weebill-s actually works with all my lenses with gh5 or 5s:) I'm much happier now:)
@@musicmarketing I don't get how you got it to work. It would work with my tiny prime lenses but any other normal lens I had to put bits of lead on the plate to get it to balance. I use a variable nd filter all the time outside. so it adds a little but I'd imagine a mass of filmmakers use these to get the F-stop they want as we can't change our shutter. I tried lots of different things and bought a plate with weights. back of camera hitting bits etc. I was using focus wheel too. So basically I came to the conclusion it does not work with GH5, because it should work with the standard lenses, nd filter and focus wheel. The weebill-s does :)

@@thr6453 I only had the RSC, it was pretty good. When you use more of the weight capacity , it makes the gimbal work more making it more stable. I personally didn’t have micro jitters using a Sony a6600 with a sigma 16mm lens
Great video. I wish you had reviewed the Weebil S with video transmission module and focus servo. I've been debating which gimbal to get to replace my Feiyu-tech G6 Plus for my Sony a6400 set up. Even though you gave the edge to DJI-Ronin, I'm probably still going to go with Weebil S ... let me know if you feel like giving away that lovely little tool to a broke indie film maker trying to make some entertainment during COVID. *peace*
What I am really wondering is why the Ronin-SC fell that dramatically in price. It can be had for 150-200€ used whereas the Weebill S usually costs upwards of 300€. I am currently considering selling my Weebil S for a Ronin-SC as the Zhiyun ecosystem doesn't have many of the things I want. There's no dual handle, the phone holder is flimsy at best, ....
I'm currently using Ronin SC and I want to get rid of it. Micro jitters (!), cant get full movement with Sigma 18-35, weak motors makes it almost unusable with heavy lenses... will go to zhyiun weebill s and hope it would be better...

Better stabilization (no jitters as in Ronin SC with ninja walk), it handles sigma A without a problem and with full range of movement. Param managment from gimbal is something I didn't know i need so much... now i need to buy image transmitter to use "activetrack", I would definetely recommend Weebil S over RoninSC. ONE advantage of Ronin SC over Weebil are materials. Ronin - good quality of plastic, rubber, metal; weebil - only plastic. Buttons with not precise buttons. As a solo creator I need the tracking capability so I bought the Weebill... such a disappointment! The image would freeze after just a few seconds of following me. Totally unreliable! As with any tool and this case, the gimbal will only be as good as its operator given that DJI, Moza, Zhiyun (in this price range) are all more or less the same in terms of capability. As someone here pointed out, there are gimmicks but these are just academic in making a choice between these gimbals. Personally, I'd go for the WeeBill, its smaller, more ergonomic (underslung) and has faster setup times which mean everything when you're a one man show! To make clear my earlier point: I was trained back in the days of real Steadicams.. the training I believe will pay off using any of these gimbals.
I dunno guy, Zhiyun Tech's documentation, app, support, and product fidelity is quite clearly worse than DJI's. They are not equal. We just got thr Crane 3s in the office for review and its pretty shocking how underdeveloped this product is on release - it does not work with 2 out of 3 cameras we tested it with, there is no follow focus option despite there being an unremovable focus wheel... I know you wanna have the infinite wisdom signal of saying "Its not the tool its the craftsman", but its just patently false that Zhiyun Tech and DJI are equivalents. All gimbal manufacturers are terrible at product design in the final third of development. Documentation, compatibility, finishing touches, ease of use - theres very rarely any consideration for the end user. Its rad that you learned on Steadicam and obviously have more experience with these tools, but try to recognize: A Steadicam is a B2B offering. It has a limited client base, extensive seller to user training options, and a consultative sales and implementation product. It doesnt need a great user manual - its not for the average consumer. These gimbals are consumer products treated as a more enterprise level tool. Its not fair to price, market, and sell a product for consumer use that simply hasnt been taken the whole 9 yards.
Also, the Weebill totally sucks. All travel gimbals kind of suck - theyre not smooth. But the Autotune feature people are touting in the comments is not at all equivalent to DJI's. An experienced hand with time can get what they need out of either gimbal, but thats a settled fact before this review even comes into the discussion. Were talking about the consumer experience here.
Full Stack Creative app support is the least of all the issues.. the webill pretty much can be controlled directly from its hardware. I’m not interested in the gimmicks! And how often are you going to use the documentation?!

I own the Ronin SC with the focus motor and the whole focus motor thing feels like an last minute addition. The motor can only be controlled via the focus wheel and the focus wheel can only controll the focus motor. I want to be able to control roll with the wheel. Also the Ronin SC is missing a setting for smoothing. It has max speed and deatband (how quickly it starts to follow). Smoothing is essential to set the acceleration of the yaw/roll/tilt follow. My previous cheapo china gimbal had that setting. Also the fact that the "follow waypoint" function is buggy af. It can only move 90° up and 45° down. in underslung mode thats a dealbreaker because only 1/3 or the range is usable. The fact that i have to unscrew 3 screws to get the camera off of the plate with the followfocus is also pretty bad and they used 12mm rods instead of 15 like everyone else. Long non 90° angle plugs on the cables are also always in danger to get bend or damaged. For stabilization alone its fine but everything else its just not finished/polished
Hey man, cant argue Im reviewing the Crane 3s right now (video coming soon) and its been pretty frustrating. I feel like the second a company comes out with an easy to understand gimbal, quick iterating product team, and actual functional out-the-box features with legible documentation... Yeah, that company would crush DJI and Zhiyun Tech. Both companies feel like they just went out of business or havent started yet when it comes to product documentation and instruction

The key words “out of the box” comparison negates your entire review. If you care enough to watch a comparison of these units you probably will care enough to adjust the settings to fit your needs. The best comparison would be unit to unit dialed in.

Very unfair review. You penalized the Ronin for having more options. You even had the upgraded Ronin with the focus which most people wont get. The weebill is garbage and if you compare apples to apples it would be apparent. I dont evenlike dji but this review was misguided.

You did not auto tune the weebill s. Its on the gimbal menu. To me that's even more convenient since you dont need an app to access gimbal settings.
I would not recommend eating the silica gel.... without cooking it. I like the “camera movement” during the unboxing intro..nice man

They definitely each have their own pros and cons. TBH, if Zhiyun Tech would make a better app the Weebill would have probably taken the edge

Do you need the focus motor for the GH5 on the Weebil-S? I thought that you could USB directly into the gimbal and use the focus wheel.
You can but its electronic focus which is a bit wonky

I own the Ronin SC with the focus motor and the whole focus motor thing feels like an last minute addition. The motor can only be controlled via the focus wheel and the focus wheel can only controll the focus motor. I want to be able to control roll with the wheel. Also the Ronin SC is missing a setting for smoothing. It has max speed and deatband (how quickly it starts to follow). Smoothing is essential to set the acceleration of the yaw/roll/tilt follow. My previous cheapo china gimbal had that setting. Also the fact that the "follow waypoint" function is buggy af. It can only move 90° up and 45° down. in underslung mode thats a dealbreaker because only 1/3 or the range is usable. The fact that i have to unscrew 3 screws to get the camera off of the plate with the followfocus is also pretty bad and they used 12mm rods instead of 15 like everyone else. Long non 90° angle plugs on the cables are also always in danger to get bend or damaged. For stabilization alone its fine but everything else its just not finished/polished

Yeah, that company would crush DJI and Zhiyun Tech. Both companies feel like they just went out of business or havent started yet when it comes to product documentation and instruction

The key words “out of the box” comparison negates your entire review.
If you care enough to watch a comparison of these units you probably will care enough to adjust the settings to fit your needs. The best comparison would be unit to unit dialed in.
I auto calibrated both of them tubs. The average prosumer is not making deadpan and smoothing adjustments before shooting.
So, for sure chill out.

Very unfair review. You penalized the Ronin for having more options. You even had the upgraded Ronin with the focus which most people wont get. The weebill is garbage and if you compare apples to apples it would be apparent. I dont evenlike dji but this review was misguided.
