I dont let it worry me. I kust record them. For some reason when you record amp4 file, it doesnt get. the ads. It only takes a few minutes more, and then u can watch it over.
Before Brando there was Montgomery. What a brilliant actor. John Payne always dapper...lovely Susan Hayward ...a wonderful actress and Audrey Totter, no one played a better "dame". Thank you for posting this long lost gem.
The best part of all these old movies is the acting talent everyone had. Most of them today should be flipping burgers with their egos rather than making millions with their so-called talents.
@@Dulcimertunes I think the worst overpaid "actor" was (is) Schwarzenegger. If his muscles were brains he's be another Lawrence Oliver. Dwayne Johnson has apparently picked up where Schwarzenegger left off. Nothing more than special effects and muscles while mumbling through his lines.
Well, this has a lot of witty barbs and clever lines. "You should have grabbed the hatchet and tried again" *Fuss-n-Feathers* Audrey Totter and Susan Hayward. Tough behind-the-scenes theater. Thanks, Chris Johnson!
@@wendyjones6077 I'm Barb Mulvaney, on a newer account. I hope I'm the right one though, as there are many of us with this name. I just found your comment to me purely by accident. I'm very sorry it took me 3 years to see it and reply, but I thank you very much for the info. I will go and look for that film right now. If I fail to find it, I'll save the name and search for it every now and then. That was very kind of you! All the best to you from Canada! 😉 ✌🏼 Edit: A different comment jogged my memory, and now I remember that film. It was one of the best suspense films ever, with fantastic performances by the whole cast, especially Montgomery, who is always so entertaining, and Rosalind Russell. I've looked for it before, without luck, so I will still look for it again, because I really loved that film! It's so creepy and suspenseful! I believe it was also remade, but I don't know by whom. In the nightclub scene, Audrey Trotter is dubbed by Martha Mears, one of the busiest dubbers in Hollywood. Her credits include dubbing Lucille Ball in DU BARRY WAS A LADY, Veronica Lake in THIS GUN FOR HIRE, Rita Hayworth in COVER GIRL, and Marjorie Reynolds in WHITE CHRISTMAS.
Thank you for the upload! My stomach was in knots trying to endure the Saxon character, and I almost gave up halfway through. Decided to continue, although I still don't know if it was worth it -- having to suffer this narcissistic, control-freak, bully (maybe because he reminded me too much of a couple real-life examples)! OMG. Nevertheless, I LOVE John Payne and thoroughly enjoyed all the other characters, especially Alma.
Same. I was going to turn it off but stuck it out because of the brilliant Susan Hayward. Glad I did because it's a great film. So grateful for the upload too!
Thoroughly enjoying these film noir movies, and no ads every 15 minutes? aaawwwessooommme! ✝️ God bless you for making getting through a pandemic just a little bit easier! All the time I was watching and listening to Matt Sxon, I kept thinking that he sounded like Jack Benny...even looked a little like how a younger Jack Benny looked. I really enjoyed this movie...Thanks..!!
So good to see Harry Morgan,, from Mash to Apple Dumpling Gang and so many others shows, he takes his role and makes it real. Love Susan Hayward. Thank you for posting.
Brilliant performance by Robert Montgomery as an egotistical passive-aggressive manipulator. Very well written script. Susan Hayward and Audrey Trotter are excellent as well. Very entertaining movie
Robert Montgomery is in top form playing a charming, narcissist. What a despicable character. Every other actor was in nice form, especially Chill Wills who was quite refreshing.
Cosette Copperfield Your comment is why I watched this movie. You nailed it.Despicable narcissist.Textbook. Montgomery was excellent as were the rest of the actors. Thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Thank you.
When Hayward was doing the USO circuit during WWII she'd get on the stage and the first thing she's say was "Is anyone here from Brooklyn?" Gotta love her. And, of course, we all know that Robt Montgomery was Bewitched's father.
I was going to ignore this film but was surprised how truly someone is more of a narcissist worse a "sociopath" which Robert Montgomery really played it to the hilt and never his character slip one little bit. A sociopath is a schemer and boy he was! What a horrible human being this man was. Too bad, Eric Busch didn't see right through Matt Saxon. Very good interpretation of how far a ruthless some people will go. Great film - a good ending!
Rita was one of the great faces of Hollywood. 61 films over 37 years. She married Prince Ali Khan and was the first movie star to become a Princess, not Grace Kelly,.
Montgomery’s was just as despicable as his character in “Night Must Fall”. But he was more scarier in Night Must Fall! Great movie for those who’ve never seen it. Rosalind Russell is his costar in that movie.
Absolutely love that movie. He and "Dame" May Whitty were both off the charts good in that. May was already knighted when she made that movie and I did a bit of math when I saw it - she was a young woman acting on stage in London's west end when Jack The Ripper was raging through the east end. Just an interesting thought. So much talent in that movie!

A great movie about the ingredients to go into production making. Robert Montgomery is great as always. I never watched a Robert Montgomery Movie and was let down by any of his work. That guy makes all of his roles very believable. Rita, Audrey & Payne are all great additions to Robert Montgomery brilliance and everyone else in all roles are great. The classic overtones of this movie is just splendidly divine satisfactorily up to my likings as a great classic movie & movie about entertainment being made. Okay, just awesome. I Am grateful the talent, studio & everyone involved in leaving this great gem for us to enjoy forever!!!
Good movie. What a nasty man, hardly worth committing suicide over! Elizabeth Montgomery certainly looked like her father. Thank you for uploading this gem!
This is a well-constructed Moralistic Drama clearly evidencing that _"What goes around, Comes Around"_ !! 👌 Good performances throughout from all in this nicely selected cast. Not a particularly great film, nor particularly "accurate" about the larger Theater Crowd portrayal, but definitely a worthwhile _'night at the movies'_ viewing, and peppered with a spicey 30 year old Susan Hayward.... 😛
This is Robert Montgomery's film. Totally. Without him and his fine skill as an actor, I would have ditched it regardless of the talents of the ensemble cast.
that must have been tough for montgomery to play such a stinker but then he called his own shots and didn't worry about getting typecast. after all, he even did this better than average movie for Universal.
I've always loved Susan Hayward such a fantastic talent and I liked John Payne, but Robert Montgomery always made me nauseous ~ he played a rat too well.
Love the cast, and the story wasn't bad. The only problem was that Robert Montgomery did such a great job of playing an obnoxious, self-absorbed ass that I felt that I'd been tricked into spending the better part of an hour and a half in the company of an obnoxious, self-absorbed ass.

It's a treat to see Robert Montgomery eating up the scenery as the world's most obnoxious person! A great cast makes this well worth watching.
@Barb Mulvaney Watch Night Must Fall. You won't believe how good it is. In it, he may or may not be a serial killer. There were rumors.... :-)
He plays obnoxious off a little too well!😂🤣😂
