I'm very sorry it took me 3 years to see it and reply, but I thank you very much for the info. I will go and look for that film right now. If I fail to find it, I'll save the name and search for it every now and then. That was very kind of you! All the best to you from Canada! 😉 ✌🏼
Edit: A different comment jogged my memory, and now I remember that film. It was one of the best suspense films ever, with fantastic performances by the whole cast, especially Montgomery, who is always so entertaining, and Rosalind Russell. I've looked for it before, without luck, so I will still look for it again, because I really loved that film! It's so creepy and suspenseful! I believe it was also remade, but I don't know by whom. Thanks very much again. Your comment is much appreciated!

I was going to ignore this film but was surprised how truly someone is more of a narcissist worse a "sociopath" which Robert Montgomery really played it to the hilt and never his character slip one little bit. A sociopath is a schemer and boy he was! What a horrible human being this man was. Too bad, Eric Busch didn't see right through Matt Saxon. Very good interpretation of how far a ruthless some people will go. Great film - a good ending!

May was already knighted when she made that movie and I did a bit of math when I saw it - she was a young woman acting on stage in London's west end when Jack The Ripper was raging through the east end. Just an interesting thought. So much talent in that movie!

t4705mb6 - I guess that accounts for why he's so manipulative, but he's good at it, not all narcs are such smooth talkers, so they go ballistic.

She could have said that she is not interested to have one

The ship's captain was muy guy. That's my personality. I respect you, but I won't let you run me over. I may say yes and I may say no, on my terms.

I was so sickened by Saxon, I don't think I could have gone on if the captain hadn't put him firmly in his place! It was such a RELIEF!

Love the cast, and the story wasn't bad. The only problem was that Robert Montgomery did such a great job of playing an obnoxious, self-absorbed ass that I felt that I'd been tricked into spending the better part of an hour and a half in the company of an obnoxious, self-absorbed ass.
