I'm turning 50 in a few weeks. So I remember vividly hearing my parents playing The Bee-Gee's in the 70's. But I also remember hearing Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin too. I'm an old school metal head and grew up on Kiss, Quiet Riot, Metallica, Slayer, Pantera and every Death metal band and Numetal band you can think of. I love them all. And I'm just now hearing DSO for the first time and I feel like I've been hiding under a rock! This is fresh new metal to my ears. Music. Art. I've been stuck in a self quarantine since the pandemic hit and I wish that I could have found you earlier. DSO, I am your newest fan. I'm adding this to my record collection mixed in with Mr. Bungle, Rivers Of Nihil, Poppy, Sumo Psycho, Killer Be Killed and Gojira.
Amazing! The reason I keep coming back to DSO is because they never stay the same they never give an album where every track feels like the same gimmick. The new vocalists is a necessity but I love it for adding more variety to an already eclectic library of Music. Bring on the new album. I cannot wait.
I'm gonna miss AnnLouice and what she brought to DSO and I have a strong disdain for disco. That being said, I love this! Its extremely adventurous for them to take this path and that's what I love about them. As for people saying it's not "metal" enough, it's one song and I can point to many of their great songs that had less "metal" in them. Kristin has a fantastic voice!
I'm glad to know DSO has such good fans! :D I've read here a lot of people are "disappointed", on the other hand, I'm so happy they did the disco style. C'mon, they play everything, AND NOW DISCO TOO? Hell yeah!! Making us prouds fans every day!
Awesome song, and I think the new singer is really talented. I don't think DSO will stick to what they've been doing before, but the new singer allows for some interesting new possible directions musically. The thing is, I don't see why this is such a shock. I mean, the band is pretty out there musically if you listen to their past material. They've already fused so many genres so well that I'm past the stage of being surprised because I already know what I'm in for with DSO: a crazy, varied and awesome ride. To be honest, aside from this having some disco in it, this doesn't stray too far from previous DSO work. Yet there is still enough new to feel fresh. I feel like with a new singer, they can really spice things up from before. Can't wait to hear the album. EDIT: Holy hell, this song is addictive.
I totally agree to this. And I'm happy to see DSO take any direction, I believe anything they do will simply become magical as long as it contains the bass, the bows and the trumpet. Also, the new singer is just sweetness to mah' ears! Lastly, yeah this song is so goddamn addictive, listened to it 20 times to day already! xD
Things changes, bands evolve creatively and this is totally DSO. All the elements are there, just with a few changes, other new things and it's fucking crazy, like it should!
I know that this album is (beautifully) all over the place genre-wise, but I think it’s pretty funny that they decided to throw in an extremely effective disco tune in there. Incredible track!
I am a Metal Head and I Love this. It really shows the new singer off very well. She is very good. Sure not many people could replace AnnLouice but then very few people in the world sing as well as she. This pure DSO for sure.
Thats what i love of this band they are very different from the rest of bands, they can play well symphonic, metal, swing, in one song dubstep and now disco metal, ahhhh who expect the same from this band you can forget that, they change and i love that kind of change. DSO Rocks!!!!
Keep in mind that the flow of disco is NOT swung, y'all. That's the biggest difference here musically, and it may throw you off. Don't say DSO is dead just because they're playing a straight meter. Wait for the next album. Myself, I like it. I can see Kristen's style pushing the band even further into Muse's vocal territory, with the long bends. She moves her voice a lot like Daniel does, really hope he's got good presence on tracks this time around like Pandora's. And so heavy! Drop A is hot.
This song is amazing. Only DSO could take on this amalgamation of musical styles while still producing something cohesive and well-written, and while still retaining their own distinct sound. This still sounds like DSO, idgaf if the singer is different, she's great in this and she fits the band great
OK... I know there are only a few crappy comments on this video, but I have to generally ask... What is it with metal fans in particular not accepting change! People change, artists change. Not only is it a always some huge betrayal when say a power metal band dare to stop making every album in the exact same style as their first one, now people are complaining about an experimental metal band experimenting in a way they don't personally like? It's experimental metal! It's all about chopping and changing, mixing different genres... Why do you all feel you have the right to decide what limits should and shouldn't be applied to music? If you don't like the song that is of course your right but the comments I see on metal albums go way beyond that. Sonata Arctica are a good example; when Unia came out it was torn apart for being different... People accused them of treating their fans like crap because they tried something new. "It's different from the last thing I heard, how DARE they!"... This attitude forces a lot of bands to constantly repeat the music they made 10 / 20 years ago just so they don't get torn apart by a bunch of self-important dicks who think they have some kind of right to demand the same kind of music from the same people forever. Art depends on change... More than that, as an artist, keeping some interest in what you do depends on you having the freedom to follow the whims of creativity from time to time. If you don't like the new direction that's fine but geez... I see way too many butthurt and aggressive comments every single time any metal band change even a little bit. :/
***** Diversity is what makes music desirable.I have been a metalhead since it's inception and there have been many come and go but one thing is always a constant...change.People who are fixated on a certain way music should be in their minds are close-minded and have no idea when good changes occur.I have followed this band for 3+ years now, since their Jamendo days ,and they have gotten nothing but better and more dynamic! Embracing change is what keeps me young and I love it!Peace to you :)
I listen to metal and virtually any genre under the sun, and this song just kinda seems inferior to their entire repertoir, alongside the rather large musical leap. It doesn't have as much originality, the entire composition is a little barren, the vocals are not terribly interesting and the song itself lacks internal progress. I like the song, but it just doesn't really work all that well. I have rarely seen people be terribly negative when a band changed and it was not for the worse, especially in metal. And there is a trend of bands degenerating into mediocrity, so being worried comes naturaly.
Well done (said?) sir. As humans, we've always like to discover something and keep it in his "normal" form. Are you kidding me!? These changes, these colors, these sounds, mash-ups, lyrics... all of it is what makes DSO, DSO. That's why I came, that's why I stay. Sit, relax and enjoy the ride! Go away boring humans, you don't deserve this glorious and excited way of life.
I just watched an interview with Muse on Radio X. Matt makes an amusing comment, saying, that their fans are those kind of people who hate all the new stuff they make. The funny thing is, that it's the same people, who 5-10 years later grow to really love it. Their bitching has no real meaning.
I don't know what's with all the negative comments, if there's one thing DSO is known for is for not sticking to just one genre of music and for experimenting with sounds and mixing them, THAT'S what makes DSO so appealing this is an Awesome song and sure the singer is different from the previous one it would be a mistake to try and make her sing the same, I for one love the song and I'm looking forward to the whole album
I’ve came here years later after I heard this song for the first time and not liking it at all to say I was wrong. THIS SONG IS FUCKING AMAZING!!! I’m loving the new style, still has all the DSO perfection combined with a new fresh and unique touch which adds new depths to the band. The new album is as outstanding as the previous ones. Can’t wait for more!!! Love you with all my soul DSO!!! 🥰🥰🥰
I'm happy for one reason: When I tell my friends about my favorite band, I can now say that they also play Disco. Why do you guys just keep getting more amusing to my ears? :D Love you! Old, new, present and future members, we love you all!
Jackie ChávezHita Ok, now we've gotten the question too many times... Yes, there will be swing music on the next album! As well as house, black metal, kletzmer, country etc etc. In other words - not only disco no. from DSO Facebook, prepare your fucking ears homie.
Please guys in the name of all that's holy, please let this upcoming album be a good one. Because even though I can live with this disco experiment knowing how diverse your albums usually are, the new vocals get me crazy worried. Pretty please.
i really hope the new album aims to be a little more than this song. It lacks the energy and passion of the previous ones. Still. You guys are a great band, my favourite since the last 6 years, please dont let that spark die. Bring back the energy. Liked the new voice even when its not the same. Greetings from Argentina
This track is disco based so it;s built around that. Disco has a lot of energy, but it's quite different and at times slightly more subtle. Don't worry though, DSO tends to have a large variety of influences on their albums so I'm sure you'll find some that have what you're looking for.
Martín Loguancio Ok, now we've gotten the question too many times... Yes, there will be swing music on the next album! As well as house, black metal, kletzmer, country etc etc. In other words - not only disco no. From the DSO FB Page.
I don't how this band always manages to re-invent itself almost flawlessly. It might not be as energetic as previous DSO songs, but I guess this is more on the emotional side. BEAUTIFUL!
This song just slowly became one of my favorites. At first I just thought it was charming and niche but god damn, its arrangement and lyrics and mood is so damn good.
Yeah I heard people in Japan weren't big fans of anime. They're supposed to be kid shows, right? And anime fans are to them what bronies are to us Americans, right?
This exact intro feels like an intro to a boss fight which forever scars the players mentally and makes them question every single choice they made up to the fight in the game. Irreversibly shifting their view on life and what it means to be a good person.
I missed the weight that heard on previous songs, however, liked the vocal and daring to turn almost in radical form your sound. I did not like much but I'm a fan and musician. Respect and admiration, always!
music is totally great, I can almost hear the "why not" working with disco music, it comes from that, the eclectic spirit that expresses DSO...Now, the singer ... her voice makes this song sounds exactly like any one can hear on the local radio, no innovative contribution I am quite sure that working with her is fantastic, a great person, but from my point of view his voice considerably detract the work of other musicians ... this is not the melancholy voice that longs for the departure of Annlouice, is a sincere interest in a great project that everyone really enjoy... congrats on the new work, continue to take the risk on behalf of true creativity
A very fun song to listen to. Not my favourite one from them, but still a great one. This band make true use of the music as an art. It is truly a bliss to listen to you and I hope I'll be able to see you live one day.
Love ALL your songs. All are unique, deep, creative, surprising and always on a top level. Understanding the full meaning of your lyrics can be a challenge but there are messages on different levels for everyone. Very cool artwork by the way. Where can I get a Shirt with the „Dios de las Geishas“ motive? Just great!
It's literally no less metal than any of their previous songs! I would understand if people weren't into the disco vibe as opposed to the vibes behind the previous songs, but aside from the "theme" of this track, the exact same thing is still going on musicially, functionally. Some heavy guitar riffs, orchestration, pretty singing, catchy chorus, jazzy pizzazz, swing influence. If you think this is significantly less metal than previous DSO, you haven't heard enough of their catalog to know this song is heavier and more metal-inspired than MANY of their older songs.
Im not a big fan of DSO, neither of opera singers like Ann or Tarja, but this band knows how to manage each instrument (including vocals). I trust in DSO creative work and listening the new singer and arrangements, it reminds me ABBA.
took me awhile to like this song fully... but i do now.... ill always love their first 3 albums.... but im lookin forward to their new one... ^__^ this band is always great!!
The more I listen to this song and the new album, the more I like it. It was a little shocking at the begining, but it's growing on me. Hats off, fellas. And yes, I like the new singer.
DSO!
Wow! We are witness of a totally new era for DSO. I love the new song and the riffs are just great. The trumpets assemble it's incredible and as usuall the drums are just... Amazing
Same as always, i have listen to this song for a week, until i realize how good it actually is. Keep up the good work d.s.o. Just because their style is different, it doesn't mean it's not good.
Listening to this again, the only thing I can say is that because it starts in a very regular disco sound, it offsets the expected DSO sound. Once the distorted guitars come in, it's all we know and love (if you listen up to 0:17 and then skip to 0:41 you get this effect). And hey, if Kristin was operatic, y'all would be saying "she's nothing on Annlouice!" Y'all just don't like change.
Bravo! This is an amazing return DSO! And what an excellent job by the new singer! Took a few listens to adjust, but this is such a fantastic track. Looking forward to hearing more soon!
If there's one thing DSO is not known for, it's keeping a consistent sound. And that's a good thing. They're one of the most experimental groups around. I'm certainly going to check out the new album when it comes out.
You are one of my favorite bands of all time... Since the first song I hear from this group (New World Windows) and now this one, I never get tired of hear your always fresh and variable style... You are not monotonous and I love that! :D
On one hand, I am very sadden to hear the change of the female vocalist... On the other, I do wish the new vocalist the best. This song did scare me at the beginning... yet after listening the song to the end, I am quite excited for the new album and more to come :) Diablo Swing Orchestra, please don't stop writing music.
Another DSO song, another genre and this time it's a branch into pop music! Well done, folks, I still haven't heard a song from you that I've disliked (and I've listened to every song ;D) Although you have changed and tweaked your style over the years, you can still hear some signature DSO sound in the bass, guitars and cello throughout and it's great to have those still present throughout this song. Hopefully the rest of the album picks up the energy from Pandora's Pinata. :)
I know others will be saying the bands dead, or something, but I love it. It's completely nothing I expected and I wait on the edge of my seat for further releases and the albums. Is this tailored to the strengths of a new singer, or an experiment? I don't know, but I like what it is. If the opera style is gone because that was the last I actually appreciate the change. Vocals are like instruments and if the vocals like the instruments cannot harmonize and they don't try to it's bad. You all play well, I can still hear you all there with my headsets, the instruments, your personality. You all live on, just with a new voice.
I like it. The song sounds like it's from the Bee Gees with Madonna as singer and makes curious for the rest of the album. I miss the operatic part of the sound, but I'm in cheerful spirits that this will work out as a kind of replacement for me. And the top thing I like at DSO is still there: It's unique!
When you are metal at heart but still party on rollers at the dancefloor
i guess it is quite off topic but does anybody know a good website to stream new series online?
@Yusuf Brecken ehh I'd suggest flixportal. you can find it if you google:D -devin
@Devin Kobe thank you, signed up and it seems to work :D I appreciate it !!
@Yusuf Brecken You are welcome :D

This band has proven that metal goes well with any genre. This is nothing but talent and freaking awesomeness.
The exception that proves the rule?
Disco Metal... the most glorious of musical transmutations... Leave it to DSO to come up with it. Masterful.
+Shea Layton Didnt Theatre of tragady, Atrocity, and Turisas do it long before? :)
+Michael Nielsen Don't forget Ensiferum.
+Kendra Dehnert Two of Spades!
+Michael Nielsen They did but not in such harmonic way, this sounds fit just perfectly, there is never an overlap between the genres.

I think this band is so underrated. To meld these themes so well and fluidly is a real testament to their skill and passion. I need MORE!!!!
I really need more disco-metal. This is the only song I've found that does it from what I've found.
This ABBA metal pleases me. DSO never disappoints.

music is totally great, I can almost hear the "why not" working with disco music, it comes from that, the eclectic spirit that expresses DSO...Now, the singer ... her voice makes this song sounds exactly like any one can hear on the local radio, no innovative contribution
I am quite sure that working with her is fantastic, a great person, but from my point of view his voice considerably detract the work of other musicians ... this is not the melancholy voice that longs for the departure of Annlouice, is a sincere interest in a great project that everyone really enjoy...
congrats on the new work, continue to take the risk on behalf of true creativity
DSO...

We love you guys!
i still waiting your next album!!!!!!
wtf !!! love it !!!! i have the three first records but this is simply amazing yeahhh
A very fun song to listen to. Not my favourite one from them, but still a great one. This band make true use of the music as an art. It is truly a bliss to listen to you and I hope I'll be able to see you live one day.
I love it. It has a kind of disco/70's swing to it.
Just great!
Please come to New Zealand!
The first couple DSO albums owned. This song owns, differently. The important part is that this OWNS.
Love this song! And when you played it this saturday i wass so happy!!! You guys are awesome!
CAN'T. STOP. LISTENING.
I absolutely love the change of pace and the new style. Completely ready for this album.
Two years later :( Waiting for the album...
+TheatreofSymphony DSO is missing in action it seems. no news of any kind for so long...
+TheatreofSymphony there will be a new album in 2016, you can check their FB page
+TheatreofSymphony Let's see who wins the race: Tool or DSO (?
+Matias Dos Santos Uh, so much great stuff coming out this year. Gojira soon as well.
+Nuclear Disco Donkey Ikr, Gojira
took me awhile to like this song fully... but i do now.... ill always love their first 3 albums.... but im lookin forward to their new one... ^__^ this band is always great!!
The more I listen to this song and the new album, the more I like it. It was a little shocking at the begining, but it's growing on me. Hats off, fellas. And yes, I like the new singer.
This album is a masterpice of art
god you are so amazing! i love all of your songs... :D
DSO!
cool, a great video. Thanks for the effort you put into it! Keep it up :) :)
Wow! We are witness of a totally new era for DSO. I love the new song and the riffs are just great. The trumpets assemble it's incredible and as usuall the drums are just... Amazing
LOVE IT, DANCING IT!
+Like
Same as always, i have listen to this song for a week, until i realize how good it actually is. Keep up the good work d.s.o. Just because their style is different, it doesn't mean it's not good.
This. I want an album of this, NOW.
Listening to this again, the only thing I can say is that because it starts in a very regular disco sound, it offsets the expected DSO sound. Once the distorted guitars come in, it's all we know and love (if you listen up to 0:17 and then skip to 0:41 you get this effect).
And hey, if Kristin was operatic, y'all would be saying "she's nothing on Annlouice!"
Y'all just don't like change.
it was about time they went disco :)
Los amoooo!! Oficialmente son mi banda favorita!
I can dig this new groove!
Greate song. Such... disco :D
But i will miss the old singer T.T
Diablo Swingin Disco?... i think i like it?... should i keep listening?... oh my.
so diffrent, but so amazing
Indeed.
I like the singing here way more than on the previous albums.
When do you come to Brazil? Please, come to Rio!!!
Please come to DC sometime
Was a bit anxious about the new singer but it turned out pretty damn well :o
yea maybe less opera than the old one but still very good
EN DEFINITIVA DSO EVOLUCIONO, YA ESCUCHAREMOS EL RESTO DEL DISCO...
Excited to hear the full album, hope it's varied as always.
On one hand, I am very sadden to hear the change of the female vocalist...
On the other, I do wish the new vocalist the best. This song did scare me at the beginning... yet after listening the song to the end, I am quite excited for the new album and more to come :)
Diablo Swing Orchestra, please don't stop writing music.
IS the vocalist only one replaced? Are all the instrumentalists still with the band?
MrRetrogamingBard Yeah
JesseJohnWilsonMusic I tthoughtthe first one to leave was the drummer, and I was surprised that the singer did too.
Just, wow.
I was getting sick of the soprano style myself, so I'm actually happy for the new singer.
Agreed.
Can't wait for the new album! Yes, this isn't their best work but it's still awesome!
Another DSO song, another genre and this time it's a branch into pop music!
Well done, folks, I still haven't heard a song from you that I've disliked (and I've listened to every song ;D)
Although you have changed and tweaked your style over the years, you can still hear some signature DSO sound in the bass, guitars and cello throughout and it's great to have those still present throughout this song.
Oh hey, they FINALLY named the next album! Now watch as it'll still take another year for it to come out.
i love it
