Fun fact: The reason Myanmar has two names is that the word "Myanmar" in Burmese (မြန်မာ) morphed in sound changes and turned into "Burma" (ဗမာ).

သူမ is not a real word. Only people who haven't studied proper Burmese use it. It's an ugly word. Sounds very awful to the ears.
