What a joke this company is!!!!!!! I just called them and asked to speak to someone - to give them some context and ask what services can they provide and their costs. Essentially a sales call, from a prospective client who is willing to pay. The person I spoke to said I could not talk to anyone, but they could "book me in" to speak to someone next tueday (today is thursday)!!!!!! This is the most INSANE business model I have ever seen (and I've seen quite a lot - especially bad ones) but telling prospective customers to go away and come back in 5 days takes the cake!

Hi Kevin, unfortunately (depending how you look at it) we are in demand, so we do have a short waiting list to get an appointment.
In order to quote for services we need to understand a lot about you and your goals and needs, and we don't take every appointment to act so it's important for both parties that we spend this time.
Sorry we couldn't meet your timescales.

@@HeelanAssociates when a customer walks into your shop to ask sone questions, only an idiot would tell them to come back 5 days later, because "we are busy"

I own a building company and on my invoices I put the reference no. to the item on the quotation. Is this OK?

Yup! More detail and relevant references are always good.

If you charge your customers in installments, how should your first, second, third etc invoices look like?

A lot depends on how you sell and deliver your product/service, but most commonly you tend to see two options:
      1) 3 invoices with a description showing which instalment in relates to
      2) 1 big invoice, stating the instalment due dates

So if your providing a service, can you just use a standard invoice book purchased from local supply store?

You could if it has all the info you need on it. Still plenty of owners doing this.
Much will depend on if you are VAT registered, or a limited company as to how suitable the invoice 'pad' maybe.
