i feel like the ones on the left looked more . . genuine. .more . .madness inducing and alien, while the ones on the right just took it as literally as possible. i.e. cthulhu just an octopus, migo just a literal crab, nightgaunt - the one on the left looked like a mknster Batman, while the right just looked like. .a literal bat. the Dagon, on the right was a literal fish. .
There were a few i thought came out better but overall, they all work just fine . I can't think that HP would have come close to imagining just how cool & scary his entities would become so long after his passing. We owe him much ...
I have to follow the original prompts or it wouldn't be a baseline experiment. Maybe, I'll try another time with altered prompts and see if we can get any closer. Thanks for the comment!
Only 4 or 5 were reimagined better, imo. The rest went to the OG. Although it is tough to say, as these are your prompts, based on your interpretations of HPL. I would say the biggest complaint about the newer versions is the scale. Dagon, for example, just looked like a goth bass. Small for a deity. Beautiful detail as far as a general image, but leaves so much to be desired in regards to actually following the prompts.
Some better. Some Not as good. Some were more believable with more realistic morphology, but although more real and less fantastical, i kinda liked the old ones (no canonical pun intended) 😂. I was most looking forward to Mi-go. As there is a direct an obvious link that places them in the same universe as Ripley's xenomorph's. But they were so boringly crab like 😭
A few of the new ones, especially ones that had cool cityscapes or other such backgrounds were better. But mostly the old ones win. They convey the scope and fantastic nature of the monsters better. It's almost as if the new engine is trying to produce more "realistic" results to the prompts and is failing to get to their essence.
2nd images were better quality but the 1st were more creative

H. P. Lovecraft was under appreciated. His works were far ahead of his time! The AI generated images seem to be a good balance. Thank you

I honestly preferred the first one in nearly every pairing.
Did you try typing in HPL's own descriptions (what little of them there are, at least)?

Elder Thing? Perhaps try reading the descriptions first?

Exactly, often the new ones just look like small animals.

Aside from the issue of plagarism, A.I. art always impresses me with a mundane, bland feeling.
I generally prefer the images on the left. Is that the older version, or the newer version?
Older version... thanks for the comment!
far too anthropomorphic in most cases
I mostly liked the original images better. More of a Lovecraftian feel.
Gotta say I like last years better overall
That seems to be the theme... thanks for commenting!
Please do Robert E Howard
Unfortunately I think they're worse. Sorry, but they're even further away from Lovecraft's original ideas than they were before.
